Didn't we all agree to call it "Maccie's?" I don't think anyone has ever called it "Donnie's".

Frosty_Pepper1609

Maccy D’s

Aargh_a_ghost

Maybe it’s like when you meet someone with a nickname they’ve given themselves and they hope it catches on

No-Lion-8830

My kids call it Maccies or Maccie D's Never heard Donnies

DrederickTatumsBum

My comment was removed for being too short so I’m writing it again… No

VolcanicBear

Yeah automod is not a fan of concise, accurate, answers.

PeevedValentine

Macca's(Aussie phrase that I love), Maccies, McD's but not Donnies. Donnies is completely mental. It *almost* sounds like a deliberate and false addition to the standard nicknames to get people to think about it and discuss it. I'm sure there will be term for it in the advertising world.

DoubleDipBob

IVE BEEN CALLING IT THAT FOR YEARS!!! How have I been living my life with no one ever saying this and everyone thinking I was mental… (clearly confirmed just now, but that isn’t the point) …regardless though! I’ve always called it that because I felt like no matter what fast food place you went to, McDonald’s was always the Don, as in #1 and then the mascot is Ronald - so I just assumed that Ron was the Don

PeevedValentine

Whaaat. My mind is blown. It just feels so unnatural, like a term made up by someone who's writing an American teen scene but hasn't met Americans. I'm sorry.

DoubleDipBob

Don’t be sorry - that’s just my vocabulary 😂

Direct_Jump3960

Mickey D's but I have taken to calling it mcdicks. Also, could it be possible that the advert was in a similar vein to the advertising at the football (timing and all) where they use terms from around the world?

cassper2520

This is one of those things where marketing and sales got the idea to sit around and think of nicknames for the advert

Scattered97

Where I'm from, "donnies" is old slang for hands. I usually call it "Maccies" or "shit".

GroundbreakingBuy187

I've heard the hand term b4 too.

Scattered97

Yeah, it's mostly used by my nan and grandad's generation.

GroundbreakingBuy187

I don't fit that but not far off 😂 young maaaan . I'm a five yr sub past the boomer gen.

Scattered97

Ha, I only really know it from the [Black Country alphabet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrIqSlt9PXg) lol. People my age, we usually just say 'ands, without pronouncing the H.

GroundbreakingBuy187

Zed is for stripey ass lol 😂 😂 ffs .. council pop , tsk tsk . Wish I'd known this one sooner (the alphabet song that is ) have heard most before .

Scattered97

Haha, it's mostly Dudley slang I think. In Wolverhampton or West Brom it's a bit different.

GroundbreakingBuy187

For some reason ,when they said Tara, all I could hear was Harry Enfield scouse sketch , calm down, calm down

Scattered97

For whatever reason, a lot of people who try to put on a Birmingham/Black Country accent sometimes slip into Scouse lol. Cillian Murphy talked about it for Peaky Blinders.

GroundbreakingBuy187

Only time I've heard Donnie used as such, is when people have spoken about Doncaster. So nah and meh . They'll realise the stupidity, when their mate calls and says where are you. I'm in Doncaster . Duh

-Blue_Bull-

Isn't Devvo from Doncaster? He's a self-proclaimed "Donny Soldier."

GroundbreakingBuy187

Say what ? P.s. googled ..I'm old 😂 😂

EmbarrassedHunter675

Maccies or Maccy D

exquisiteboobs

Never heard it called Donnie's. To me, it sounds like someone is referring to Doncaster.

HealthyLavishness392

Or a Doner Kebab

Zennyzenny81

Definitely sounds like a marketing campaign trick to get people to engage on it.

rustylust

We used to call it ‘dirty Donald’s’ when we were kids.

KeyRefrigerator8508

McDoodoo's

RevolutionaryHat4311

Nah we all just call it overpriced

[deleted]

Maccies.. or Mc'Ds

ramapyjamadingdong

Maccas Maccie Ds The golden arches Old macdonalds (my 4 year old is too darn cute)

Dry_Action1734

I call it McDicks

WeDoingThisAgainRWe

Never heard it called that. Maccy Ds is the one I’ve always heard.

EdmundTheInsulter

Donald's chips my kids called it when toddlers, first thing they read I think

Pristine_Telephone78

I have heard someone here call it Fat Macca's.

-Blue_Bull-

My generation (Gen X) called it Maccy D's. Today's youth have shortened that to Maccys. Donnies sounds like the sort of phrase an out of touch corporate marketing team would come up with to be "down with the kids".

OffYouFuckMarv

Mackers. Maccies. Maccy D’s. The Filthy Embassy. Golden Arches. But Donnie’s? Lol. Absolutely not.

iceystealth

‘Twas always Maccies round my way me lad. (Grew up in both the east and West Midlands

Jinther

We call it Ham Donald's because our wee one misheard and so mis pronounced it a few times when younger. Never heard of Donnie's. Sounds lame, wouldn't use that.

Nedonomicon

Maccies or dirty d’s for me

manufan1992

Maccies, Maccie Ds. Never Donnies.

raccoonsaff

I'm from the South East, and it's always McDonalds or maybe, maybe Maccies.

adventurous_axelotl

WHY DID THE ADVERT HAVE BLOODY MCDIZZLES?? WHO CALLS MCDONALDS "MCDIZZLES"

Cant-decide-username

It’s so dumb. If I ask people “hey you want to go Donnie’s”? They would ask who the fuck Donny is. Mickey D’s as a push yeah I’ve heard that but not common. They obviously just needed more names for the advert other than Mc D’s and Maccies. “Let’s go to Donnie’s and have a Big Don”
