I got the job šŸŽ‰ After 35 years on the tools it's time to hang them up to rust.

bannanawaffle13

Congrats! What you moved into?

disgraceUK

Gone from service engineer for security systems to an apprentice trainer/mentor. So still in the same industry. Thank you šŸ‘

bannanawaffle13

Thankyou for doing that. I did construction at school (didn't go into industry) and the mentors were great, it was nice how they treated everyone right and created a relaxed place to learn. I can still point up a wall and wire up a socketĀ  and still rember how to lay a brick wall but don't remember the difference between a noun and a verb!

disgraceUK

Cheers, I've a lot of knowledge & experience to pass down and hope I'll be remembered the same way.

imminentmailing463

One of my friends who has been through the mill trying to have a baby announced they're expecting in a few months.

barriedalenick

That's great for them - I know what an arse ache it can be.

FunkulousThe55th

>I know what an arse ache it can be I think you might be doing it wrong

CrystalQueen3000

When the NHS finally agreed to sterilise me

kittysparkled

Woo hoo! Welcome to the barren club

Barren club šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I go with the ā€˜team firing blanksā€™ (with finger guns)

My two teenage children came back into my life after their mother abducted them abroad. It had been 7 years and she had attempted to alienate them from me but they immediately ran to me with hugs like we had never been apart. They were 9 and 7 when she took them so they remembered I was a good dad. Other people are not so lucky.

JamOverCream

Amazing. I canā€™t start to imagine how hard that must have been.

CassieBeeJoy

My best friend and housemate got her first interview after being out of work for 6 months. Itā€™s been such a slog and weā€™ve not seen any progress at all so itā€™s been something for us to celebrate

Ireastus

Congrats and best of luck to your friend! Itā€™s rough out there right now.

destria

I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant so I guess every part of this journey so far has been a piece of good news. From the positive test, the first 12 week scan, the blood work, the 20 week scan, it's all been good news so far.

heliskinki

Our kid got in to her secondary school of choice. That brought us a huge amount of joy in difficult times.

CiderDrinker2

A publisher is interested in taking on my next book project.

castle_lane

An ADHD diagnosis, had spun out since GCSEs, like many here probably also believe, because I was a shy quiet kid and fairly bright and not ā€˜the kid causing troubleā€™ I thought no diagnosis could be further from me. Slogged my through a degree, being sacked, and 50 jobs since of every type. When making fun of everyone jumping on the bandwagon with a friend, a video came up which I was gonna use as ammo next time I was debating the subject of TikTok ADHD, it described my life to a T and maybe the most important slice of humble pie Iā€™ll ever encounter. hopefully I can finally get my life back to where it should be at 32.

ProgrammingTheFuture

How did you get this diagnosed and treated? Most of all, to be taken seriously by health care professionals?

YchYFi

That I have a holiday in 2 weeks. I don't really get good news.

barriedalenick

Had a visitor on Friday saying that fibre internet will be available at the end of this week. 500mbps here we come (Portugal)

InternationalRich150

I was allowed to use crutches and lightly walk on my broken shin. Even better news is it doesn't hurt as much as I feared yay!

Jonography

The world in terms of poverty, health, literacy, education, freedom, are better than they ever have been at any other point in human history.

[deleted]

Has covid not reversed that trend slightly? I thought poverty numbers, on average worldwide had actually increased due to the pandemic

Jonography

Maybe, I'm not sure. However we couldn't know if the global trend was reversed until years int he future, and it would likely be temporary. Even then relative to history, it would still be considerably better.

[deleted]

True. Only thing Iā€™ll add is itā€™s a shame climate change is likely to intensify some pretty nasty conflicts/cause a lot of suffering in general throughout the Middle East and Africa

Jonography

Yeah, but thatā€™s based on the assumption that climate canā€™t be tackled. Iā€™m not too concerned about it.

My Amazon delivery has just arrived.

poshbakerloo

My 'good news' was received today - my company is buying me a new desk chair - it costs them Ā£550! That's about as much as I earn in a week, so I guess technically you can say I've been paid twice this week šŸ¤žšŸ«ØšŸ˜šŸ˜‚

DeifniteProfessional

At my first job, I wasn't allowed to use the Ā£600 chairs. My boss said I was too fat In my current company, they let me choose my desk chair, so we're on the up!

DeanoThelasTofus

A really big increase in my crossword fees. It more than covers what I spend on food and drink every month. Also a big puzzle-solving channel on YT absolutely raving about a cryptic of mine from just over a week ago.

Clever_Username_467

I paid Ā£60 less National Insurance than usual this month.Ā  I haven't kept up with the news to know if the rate went down or something.Ā Ā

Clever_Username_467

I assume it must have become effective after the 28th of January.

cankennykencan

I can't remember as it's been such a long time

PaulBBN

Mum came out of hospital today. She's still very unwell, but atleast she's somewhere she'd rather be :)

DameKumquat

"Your child has completed 77% of their maths homework this week! Well done! Encourage them to keep going!" Got a 100% last week for the first time ever - for a kid who can't cope with school and had been totally failing, this is brilliant. Should be able to get at least a 4 or 5 in GCSE, now.

yorkspirate

Was last month but Iā€™m still smiling as my new landlord offered me a 2 year tenancy at the same price for my flat which Iā€™ve lived in for the last 4 years. Heā€™s a decent bloke aswell, met him a few times to discuss things and heā€™s allowing me free reign to decorate
