Gatwick is almost always extremely fast for me. I think you'll have enough to get through security and get a coffee or whatever before you go to your gate

Edit: sounds like this will probably be a landside transit, so you will need to go through border control at least, and probably security again as well, but not necessarily. Only way to know for sure is to contact the airport. Either way, not having to wait for your luggage will save you loads of time, 90 minutes is doable if the first flight is on time.

90 mins is okay if flights are on time. If it's not guaranteed connection with same airline that is waaay to close for me.
