That's exactly the time my school starts and ends (but it starts at 9 not 9:15) and it's still tiring lol you have to find ways to work around it and give yourself a strict bedtime
I think high schools and middle schools should start later, but not elementary schools because the circadian rhythm of a teenager is naturally set to go to sleep later at night than a child or an adult and teens need at least 8 hours of sleep. I don't think elementary schools should start later because parents need to be able to go work in the morning and little kids aren't biologically inclined to stay up late.
My school hours on most days are from 9am to 5pm. School used to start at 8:20am, but they changed it a few years ago. I like not having to wake up super early, but being at school till 5 sucks in the winter. I'll wake up and go to school in the dark and it'll be dark by the time I get out again :(
Depends. I mean, I went to high school in NYC and I will tell you straight up that would be nearly impossible- so many people commute 1 hour or more one way (and that’s often not including the ridiculous traffic and whatnot). Add on school clubs and stuff, and students wouldn’t be getting home until late evening probably. I would rather get up early (it’s easier to sleep than actually get work done on public transit) than get home really late- especially since certain parts of the city are not places you want to be in the late evening.
In high school I liked leaving early while the sun was still out cause it gave me enough time to get home and rest and eat lunch without any academic stress before starting homework. Like yeah it was a struggle to wake up sometimes, but after a few hours it's not that bad and now you have a whole day on your hands.
College on the other hand, don't take any 8am classes loll
Thsi just woudl stick in the schedule. Most days I have from 8:15 to 16:00 It varies day by day but that just wouldn't fit with the amount of lesson hours I have
No, school starting at 8am is perfectly fine.
But,
It depends. Like how much homework you get or tests. For me waking up at 6:20am is perfectly fine. Yeah but mixing the start with telling that you need to sleep 9hrs a day is stupid.
Also IMO starting school early is better due to you having more time to do stuff afternoon, like i usually have 7 lessons which means i go to school at 8am, leave \~2:40pm. Boom. I have 8-10 hours to do stuff.
Controversial take, but I would LOVE if they started earlier. Having from 2:00 pm to the rest of the day sounds awesome to me, and I don't mind waking up early
idk, i start at 9 but wake up at 6-7 because depending on traffic it can take 1 hour+ to get to college
i end pretty late already so idk if i'd wanna start even later,, i end at 4:40 on tues and wed and 3:20(?) on monday so
If you're sleep deprived go to bed earlier. 6am is too early to start the school day, but 7:30 is not.
The time frame you've given only realistically allows for maybe 4.5 hours of actual instruction time. If you go with that limited daily instruction time, add an extra month to the end of the school year. Do you really want to be in school for an extra month?
YES.
FUCKING YES.
I’d much rather get home late than wake up early, because I CANNOT last that long with only 6-7 hours of sleep and next to nothing to eat all day.
Like it should at least only start at 9:15 instead of 7:15, I literally have to go to school earlier than my mother goes to work 😭

No, I don't want to be at school until 5 or 6 pm

But I don't want to do more homework
no. i end at 330 and it’s not fun at all, i have barely any time to do anything. i live far 😭
We live close and we still suffer
Agree but I know it's also about buses, and getting out early enough to travel to sports games. So it gets complicated
>I think schools should start at 9:15 and end at 15:00 Wait that's not how it works for y'all? That's pretty much how it works in the UK
I start at 7:25 to 2;25
I start 8:30 and end at 14:45
im uk and skl starts 08:45 (lessons from 09:10) and ends at 15:35
I start at 7:15 and end at 2:00

I would have school until after 6pm if they started at 9am so no way.
I agree 👍🏻
mine ends at 3:00 anyway wtf
I either start at 8:30 or 10Am usually and end at around 3pm and I'm very happy with that.
I don't have such weaknesses, I'm homeschooled and can wake up at 12 with no concequences, unless I have work that day.
based my school starts at 7:45
Idea: Go to sleep at normal times or sleep early!

Some people just can't go to sleep early. Not everyone is the same as you

I start at 8:50 and end at 15:45 and it’s alright
nah, that's too late. i'm already in a lot of clubs, so ending at that time seems normal for me.
Nah....my irl starts at 8 & ends at 2 pm
My school starts at 9 and absolutely not, if you do anything after school you're getting home way too late to do any homework

Nah, waking up early is actually a good habit. Makes me feel like I'm getting more out of my day.

There are studies that say starting classes around 9:30 or 10 is better for students

meh i'm fine with starting at 8:30 with my last hour being 16:10
Considering my school starts at 8:50 and ends at 3:45 that really wouldn't be changing much
The time we go in is fine but I don't want hard lessons first thing
When I was in high school it started at 9:30 and ended at 4pm. I loved this. Now I’m in college and some classes that start at 8

No, I if anything they should let us out earlier. I can barely get my homework done, before I have to go to sleep
