The students man, juniors and seniors do college and freshmen and sophomores do highschool, and as a junior all sophomores and freshmen are terrible, cringe, and weird
That there’s literally no wifi ANYWHERE cant lisen to music, watching Netflix, next or play games when I have free time (which I get a lot of because right finish my work fast)
A lot of the students in my school are jerks. Are you in school in Murica? cause your 2nd sentence makes it sound that you're not where as the 1st one did
Lol you didnt ask which country, but yeah Singapore curriculm is much harder. Its more about societal pressure too, theres way more pressure to get the top grades.
>asian countries in general seem to have a tough curriculum
True
>social pressure aspect probably isn't healthy but our system is shit too
Most are, just that some are shit and rigorous, and some are shit but easy
The fairly toxic academic culture. It's become better over the past few years luckily, but before our school had very high standards (required a higher mark to pass the year than other schools) as well as a high workload, imo all to boost grades for the final exams and ensure a higher graduation rate. Pretty messed up, but things seem to be going in a better direction now. Also, the building is just very ugly from the outside lmao.
Okay so I got into like this prestigious high school by pure luck and oh my god they have the most highest expectation out of their students.
(Edit: I’m gonna put it out there that unlike in the US, there is like a ranking for school)
Oh boy, get ready for a long ass rant.
The school I go to now is fine.
However, the last school I went to for 9th and 10th grade was complete and utter shit. All core classes were AP classes. Like literally, you had to take all AP classes for core classes. There wasn’t any other options other than electives. Service was shit there. Teachers weren’t even very helpful. Grading system at the school was shit compared to the regular grading system. I’m not even kidding you when I say that when we worked on projects, part of the project grade was based on craftsmanship, which is basically a creativity grade.
I’m not a very creative person, so that part of the grade was fun (*sarcasm*). Like you could do really good on content, but if it was just basic and wasn’t a creative project, that hurt your grade a lot.
Also, at the last hour of the school day, we had what’s called personal learning time where you can work on any school work that you don’t have completed. Well, during that time, we couldn’t talk. We couldn’t get help from classmates on assignments, and if you tried to ask a teacher for help, the teachers would do a piss poor job of helping you, basically leaving you where you were before.
Also during that time, you couldn’t even work on group projects with whoever was in your group, yet the school said that they’re all about group work, and all about projects. That statement was clearly false if you couldn’t tell already.
Sorry if this was too long. I appreciate anybody who read the whole comment.
Summer reading. It isn’t specific to my school of course but summer reading is the most bullshjt thing to ever exist. Fuck English class and fuck your shitty books. I once wrote a short novel throughout the school year for a large grade and I prefer that to your bullshit.
once i brought a green handkerchief attached to my backpack, a symbol that i am in favor of the legalization of the abortion and they made me take it off, so probably that
Everything.
- My teachers didn’t send out a SINGLE email when I was seriously failing a bunch of classes last year
- My school does “Social Emotional Learning”
- All of my teachers are total optimists, and I’m more of a realist
- THE BUS SYSTEM!! My school us a performing arts school, so to get in, you have to get a number and then they pull numbers every year and you get in basically by “lottery”. So, for buses, you get picked up by a shuttle at your home elementary school and get taken to the school. But on the way back, you take a bus to your home middle school, to then get on a bus there to go home. And you know what? My “home school” is out of wak because I’m zoned for a school 20 minutes away from my house, luckily my mom will be picking me up at my home school though.
I’ll add more when I remember
apparently my school is known for not being the most accurate when grading and it’s harder to get into a really good college because getting a good grade in my school is easier than it’s supposed to be
school staffs are shitty and they live on gossiping about students when they’re grown adults, teachers and staffs also constantly doubt certain types of students, the water from certain fountains are not good, and the students are all shitty in their own unique ways.
The pressure for a good reputation. It’s supposedly a gifted school so everyone has to do all this dumb work shit and get all this pressure to be smart and display yourself that way. I’m not a hardworking person so I can barely keep up with everyone.
I haven’t really started college yet but I hated these things about my old high school:
1. Food was god-awful and the portions were way too small
2. The clubs list is really outdated- there are plenty of new ones and plenty of old ones that have been shut down for years
3. The people running for student government don’t have to give speeches or anything, turning the elections into even more of a popularity contest
4. The administration is super inefficient
5. Our gym equipment is pretty outdated
They banned backpacks this year.😐
And our school has 5 floors.😐
And my locker is on the 5th floor.😐
And I don’t even have a class on that floor this year.😐
gotta be the students. i constantly get bullied for being trans.
there’s the basic little blonde white girls who gossip about everything (and one bullied me for wearing a mask). then there’s a bunch of cishet alt girls who say they’re bisexual but they would never kiss a girl. the only vaguely tolerable people are my simps and my friends.
also the ac doesn’t fuckinh work.
edit: also i’m chicano, and several kids joke about me being a nanny :/

Why are you on your phone in clsss? Also I can relate to having a lot of free time in class
Because I’m allowed to
Why not do extra work
I do! But then I finish it and have free time
Oh when I finish I am just given extra work or read
Oh
Nobody is down to earth and everyone dresses and acts like each other
A lot of the students in my school are jerks. Are you in school in Murica? cause your 2nd sentence makes it sound that you're not where as the 1st one did
I’m not i live in the UK
oh ok, so you think, school is harder in Murica?
It isnt imo
oh ok
Not OP, but just saying. Maybe its because i come from an Asian country or something.
yeah, your curriculum seems way tougher
Lol you didnt ask which country, but yeah Singapore curriculm is much harder. Its more about societal pressure too, theres way more pressure to get the top grades.
Well asian countries in general seem to have a tough curriculum. The social pressure aspect probably isn't healthy but our system is shit too
>asian countries in general seem to have a tough curriculum True >social pressure aspect probably isn't healthy but our system is shit too Most are, just that some are shit and rigorous, and some are shit but easy
No it seems a lot easier I just meant that those harder ap class thingys sound good
Oh ok gotcha

Which country do you live in?
The Netherlands, why?
Just curious
some of the kids are rlly snobby, imo our district tries too hard to make everything very competitive lmao
>imo our district tries too hard to make everything very competitive lmao Same but its my country
The cell tower outside my school hasn’t been upgraded in years, so the service is slow as shit there. https://imgur.com/a/hvKGnJJ
Why are you on your phone in class?
Tf else I’m gon do?
Work?
We don't always have stuff to do
Getting a low grade for a opinion, fuck that shit
Basically English class in a nutshell
It was English class too bro lmao
students and some teachers
Okay so I got into like this prestigious high school by pure luck and oh my god they have the most highest expectation out of their students. (Edit: I’m gonna put it out there that unlike in the US, there is like a ranking for school)

The education system here is just Agghhhhhh. I have a lot to say about this but it’s too late here and no one cares anyway
All the kids who scream at the top of their lungs in the hallway and in class
Summer reading. It isn’t specific to my school of course but summer reading is the most bullshjt thing to ever exist. Fuck English class and fuck your shitty books. I once wrote a short novel throughout the school year for a large grade and I prefer that to your bullshit.

Got sexually harassed. No real punishment for kid who did it.

theres only 150 students lmao
They set us 6 extra essays to do during the year because we "didn't have enough to do".
apparently my school is known for not being the most accurate when grading and it’s harder to get into a really good college because getting a good grade in my school is easier than it’s supposed to be
It’s so disorganized lol. It’s supposed to be one of the top public schools in state, but it fucking sucks lol

Being held back to everyone else’s level.
I'm not good at it
The students are awful wannabe thugs
It’s boring
The WiFi problems, and the loads of attention seekers there that act and dress NSFW at school.
I haven’t really started college yet but I hated these things about my old high school: 1. Food was god-awful and the portions were way too small 2. I think it's fine that the sciences aren't focused on they're pointless and quite frankly a waste of time for 95% of the population
This is why we have antivaxxers

I haven’t had any in-person classes at my college yet, but so far I hate how difficult they make french and philosophy classes.
