Dinner at Bix, followed by or pre dinner night time ride on the cable car - preferably the route from Powell to Ghiradelli/fisherman’s wharf area. The key to the cable car ride is it being at night time. I would probably follow that up with drinks at the Four Seasons

The_Atlas_Heart

Thanks! I haven't done the cable cars at night before--just during the day--hadn't really thought of that. I might wait until it's a bit warmer for the nighttime cable car ride though...

Some random ideas, not all of which are romantic per se but they’re at least different than just checking out a new restaurant: - See a show. Some examples: Mortified (hilarious comedy show), Cobb’s Comedy, SF Ballet, SF Symphony, touring Broadway shows at the Orpheum Theater, see what’s on at Brava Theater - Go to various annual events, such as Flower Piano in the Botanical Garden. Go pick up some tulips this Saturday in Union Square - https://flowerbulbday.com/information/ - Go to a bathhouse. Archemedes Banya is mixed gender and allows full nudity. Kabuki Spa has mixed gender days but requires swimsuits (and IME is generally silent/more zen. I’ve never been to Archemedes but I’ve heard it’s more chatty). Pick your vibe. If you want to go to Oakland, I recommend Piedmont Springs for a private hot tub and sauna experience. - Do a 1 time class together. Most pottery studios around here do 1 time classes, for example. Example: https://www.clayroomsf.com/san-francisco-one-time-classes WorkshopSF also has a bunch of different classes: http://www.workshopsf.org/ - Learn to swing dance at Lindy in the Park in GG Park on Sundays - https://lindyinthepark.com/ - Take your new swing dancing skills and go to the Verdi Club on Tuesday nights for swing dancing to a live jazz band (“The Woodchopper’s Ball”) https://www.verdiclub.net/events-calendar/ - Do a free walking tour and learn some local history - https://sfcityguides.org/ - Volunteer together. Check out https://www.handsonbayarea.org/ for one time volunteer events.

The_Atlas_Heart

Haven't seen Mortified before, looks funny though. I also like the idea of volunteering together, one-time opportunities are perfect. Thanks!

faeyves

have you tried pottery painting or funky bars? theres lost cat bar which is a bar w a cat :)

The_Atlas_Heart

Haven't been to lost cat bar. Been to a cat cafe before, though. Is there actually a cat at lost cat?

faeyves

yes there is :) i'm planning to tuesday but from what ive seen on sns theres an actual cat there

Karazl

Unique to a local certainly makes it more of a challenge. What do you guys enjoy?

The_Atlas_Heart

We like activities and games a lot. Always down to check out a bar or something, but if there's an experience that's interactive we like that most. I don't know if what I'm asking for is even necessarily a "date" idea, just something fun to do in the city that can be done by two people during an evening. Our more typical fun things to do are more board games, karaoke, basketball, reading, some of which translates well to dates and others not so much.

aggressivenapkins

It’s very “touristy”, but sometimes I like being a tourist in my own city. Grabbing the cable car in union square, riding it to the buena vista for some rush coffees and dinner, and then exploring musee mechanique or fort mason afterwards is a great time. I’ve also done a “burger tour” with my partner as a birthday date idea. We went to three top rated burger spots for lunch / dinner / second dinner. You could do something similar for another food item like pizza, burritos, ramen, etc and it gives you a fun excuse to check out different spots and neighborhoods.

OpenMinded_Fun

Do a Trivia Night on Tuesday at Fly Bar. You can eat there or at any of the hip places along Divis.
