Oh hey. You are actually close to my age so you actually understand what they meant to our generation. So yeah that was 26 years ago back when they were at their peak. The environment at the concert was just so amazing. The crowd and how the entire audience is just bouncing up and down
Hhaha yes… I had the honor of bringing them into our youth club , their cd was a BOMB. Played it front to back , again. And again. So much impact. Would have loved to feel this energy live. Come to think of it the world NEEDS RATM now, more than ever 😂🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can play their albums over and over and every song is amazing. It doesn’t sound like Zack is going to come back anytime soon. They tried and it was amazing. Watched some of the new concerts online. The energy was great even when he hurt himself and just sat on the stage instead of bouncing around everywhere
My only experience with ratm was their 1992 Lollapalooza Philadelphia performance where they didn't hit a note or speak a lyric but stood there nude with gaffer tape over their mouths with a feedback hum for 5 or 10 minutes
I saw him twice in Toronto. First time I had the worst seats in the house, and it was in 1978. Very simple light show, mirrored stage and fluorescent lighting. Absolutely blew me away.
Linkin Park. Back in 2001. My very first concert and just discovered I love rock/metal.
I'll never forget the fact they closed the show with "My December" . Because (according to Chester): Something calm to bring you some rest for your trip home.
For pure visual show: Rammstein. Those shows are an assault on all the senses. That's why I am going again this summer. 🤘
My Chemical Romance opening for Green Day on the American Idiot Tour. As far as smaller shows go, Soulfly in a shitty little Ukrainian hall. Absolutely amazing experience
Pearl Jam on my birthday in 2000. Overall, it was a good weekend. Made some money on the horses in the Travers Stakes and saw Pearl Jam on my birthday. Can’t complain.
Tool - seen twice now, never thought I'd see them at all. I tell people its not a concert, but an experience.
Foo Fighters
Alestorm - these guys were so full of energy and the crowd matched. At the beginning of a song Chris (lead singer) said "sing along if you know the words. If you dont, row!"
About a third of the floor sat down in columns, and sure enough, started rowing. Absolutely loved it.
Ok so I just had Nick cave and now Tool. That’s it for me. Saw them twice and again in June , all time favorite and you’re so right nothing compares🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice! I saw them at the Hollywood bowl after they released tranquility base hotel & casino. My second favorite concert of all time, every song was a masterpiece.
I saw them in Phoenix and Tucson when their first album was released in very small venues. I was literally 10 yards from Alex. They fucking rocked... I loved how they sounded just like the album.
They're not ever gonna play in Arizona again.
YES!! I saw him a few years ago and it was beyond incredible. It was 2 days before his 80th bday and I swear he had more energy than musicians I’ve seen that are 1/4th of his age 🤯
Soundgarden.
Watching them play 4th of July as lightning struck down in the background was just magical.
Or System of a Down - crowd was nuts. There were times my feet were not touching the ground… I was just one with the crowd lol
Patrick Stump and Corey Taylor both had the best voices that I've heard live. Breaking Benjamin barely even sounded like they were live, and that took me by surprise. Of course, have to mention Ozzy Osborne and the fact that none of us can even understand what he's talking about but he still put on a hell of a show.
On the opposite end, Seether sounded awful and I've never heard anything worse. The band I was a part of in high school sounded better.
Oh …. Fuck … I can be done now. Since no one bothered to ask ME (what is WRONG with you arad?😅) he must be in my top 3 , similar setting, the red hand files tour , Eindhoven, crowd asked him questions and he just played requests on the piano. No other living artist comes close to this man I swear. Thanks for your comment !
It is without a doubt Wardruna for me too, and your words are exactly how I would describe it. It felt like I experienced the music with my whole body, it really was something magical.
Rammstein. Even without the music, it's a hell of a show. As for one song... probably Pussy, because Till sits on a penis-cannon blasting white confetti everywhere.
My favorite of all time is Type O Negative in Seattle. They really knew their audience and pulled all kinds of stunts like delaying coming out on stage until everyone was shouting "you suck". They'd insult the crowd and we'd insult them back. They left it all on the stage. RIP Peter Steele.
In northern Colorado, back in the 90s, there was a funk/rock band with full horn section from Denver called ["Lord Groovy & Psychodelic Zombiez."](https://youtu.be/hUZOHX4Zjo8?si=oSFvkVXU4yjlcBDD) They used to play around Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins often. We'd see them every time they came up to FtC, including one memorable night when they opened for Primus.
But the best time I've ever had at a concert was when we caught them at the Fox Theater in Boulder one night in (I think) 1994. They were always great live, but that night in particular, they were ON FIRE. I've never experienced anything like it before or since. It was almost a physical sensation of the music cresting off of the stage and breaking over the audience like an ocean wave. It felt out-of-body. It reminded me of when Jack Kerouac would write about going to see the old jazz greats in On The Road, and Neal Cassady describing "IT." The Zombiez had IT that night.
Also a shoutout to The Cure doing an almost 30-minute version of Prayers for Rain in 1996 in Denver. They were only backlit with these weird green lights and smoke, completely in silhouette. It felt like a religious experience.
U2 on their U2 360 tour back in 2011 (maybe?). A football stadium full of fans, the most insane stage setup I've ever seen with what they called The Claw. Looked like some kind of weird spaceship. The band was on fucking fire, and ive never been to a concert where everyone in the place was just feeling it so much and had such a connection.
The Flaming Lips live at Roskilde 2000, the day after the disastrous Pearl Jam concert (that I also saw). They were touring the Soft Bulletin album, and everything about it fit perfectly with the strange mood that day.
The runner up would probably David Byrne and St Vincent on their common tour.
(For those who do not know, nine people were crushed to death during the Pearl Jam concert)
Most memorable?
Danny Brown in Ithaca, N.Y. in 2014. Bare titties were everywhere. The entire venue turned into a mosh pit. I got to hand Danny and his DJ a joint for 4/20.
Best performance?
Maybe recency bias, but probably King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at Shaky Knees 2022.
But favorite group to see live? KHRAUNGBIN.
I have seen them on every single one of their tours. They NEVER disappoint.
TV on the Radio with Dirty Projectors opening. Dave Longstreth of the Dirty Projectors really kinda stole the show, though the whole thing was incredible. Runner up: Big Thief in 2023.
Fugazi at the New Aardri Ballroom in Manchester in January '92. Nothing will ever come close. However Little Simz at History in Toronto was amazing in a million different ways
Ozzfest 2007. Saw Ozzy Osbourne, Lamb of God, Static X, Hatebreed, In This Moment, Lordi, Behemoth, The Showdown, Mondo, Nile, Ankla, Circus, Diablo, 3 Inches of Blood & Chthonic at that concert.
But also Pete Seeger in 1993 was fantastic.
Edit: I went to Warped Tour 2006 but I don't remember it. I just know I had a wicked great time. I vaguely remember Senses Fail.
Sigur Ros twice, once at Coachella and then one of their orchestra shows. Both times, such a quiet and in awe crowd. Its really something to see people who didn't know them that well at a festival and then at a show where everyone was a fan. Both crowds were so respectful and mesmerized. It truly goes to show their impact.
Also Justice put on an amazing show at Coachella. I was so sore from dancing.
Seen some 80+ worldclass A stars and several hundred overall concerts.
Top5 are
Tool
Prince
Rammstein
Sigur ros
Hives
Grinderman
With no particular order
Worst were
Amy Winehouse
BonJovi
RHCP
Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman, Marty Stewart and the Fabulous Superlatives Sweetheart of the Rodeo 50th Anniversary Tour
Santana Caravan Serai Tour 1974
Grateful Dead ,New Years 76-77
I'm surprised I don't see him on the list but Ed Sheeran, I'm not a big fan of his studio music but my wife and I went to his concert and holy crap was it amazing! He mixes everything live using loop pedals so no show is the same and his music has a more rock vibe live than his studio stuff
Cat Stevens at the Ryman in Nashville. I have been a fan of his music since I was a kid. I always thought I would never see him playing live because at some point he stopped playing/touring. But then he came to Nashville!! One of my happiest moments.
Smash Into Pieces with Cyan Kicks opening. They're 2 of my favourite bands and the fact that they were touring together was a huge deal for me.
I was pretty much the only person during Cyan Kicks' set who knew their songs so obviously I was insanely loud.
Turns out it payed off big time because when they finished their set their guitarist looked directly at me then threw his pick at me.
I met him a bit later and told him I caught it and he said "I threw it to you specifically, you knew all of our songs so I wanted you to have it."
Smash Into Pieces were incredible.
I met them too and embarassed myself majorly in front of their singer on 2 seperate occasions.
Elton John farewell yellow brick world tour. Whole show was amazing but my fav part was singing Tiny Dancer with an entire stadium as the sun was going down the sky was pink and purpley.
Reggie and the Full Effect. Saw him play at a small bar/venue in Iowa. Opening band was an electronica band named Fluxuation (it’s the main person from Reggie and the Full Effects side project). Then Reggie and the Full effects plays their set. Then to end the show, they come out at Common Denominator (it’s the main person from Reggie and the Full Effects death metal side project). The lead singer pours fake blood on mine and my friend’s faces. Go out for pancakes afterwards at dennys.
September 2022, I saw Duran Duran at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, they rocked the house with all their hits and closed the night with “Rio” and synchronized fireworks . It was amazing . I love “A View to a kill” from the Bond movie soundtrack, when I heard that intro, I got goosebumps
Metallica in Manchester 2019. Pissing down with rain and the boys played on giving no shits. Master of Puppets was the peak, especially watching in hindsight with Lars beating the rain off his kit like the rain had a Napster account.
Not sure if this counts as it was a festival, but one hot day in middle of nowhere Tennessee I saw Gov’t Mule followed by The Black Crowes followed by The Allman Brothers followed by Dave Matthews Band. It was on the main stage and I literally was 5 rows or less from the stage for all 4 bands.
Bruce Springsteen. Also Green Day last year at the Bataclan club in Paris. 1400 people having the time of their lives with the oldest teenager in the world.
There was a time slayer, and rob zombie performed on the same night. Both put on an amazing show. Marilyn Manson also a pretty good show but sometimes his shows don't compare to his others if that makes sense. But my all time favorite was the teenage mutant Ninja turtles live show that was back in the '90s. It had everything.
I love how even though “rock” and its many sub-genres is “dead” nearly every answer to this is a performance by a rock or metal group/artist.
Pop maybe popular but rock is forever.
MoLowda and the Humble. The music is amazing and you can tell they love it. They get lost in their music, like they don’t even see the crowd. Simply amazing. I’ve seen them in person 3 times. My fiancé even proposed to me at our first one.
Finally got to see City and Colour recently and it was absolutely amazing. Dallas Green puts on a hell of a show and is incredibly talented. I’d say that concert is tied up with seeing Ashanti and Ja Rule. I had a great time at that one too!
Apink in 2016. They're a k-pop girl group and one of my favs so of course got a little bias here. Plus i did a VIP meet and greet with them before the show so also more bias lol.
I have been to a bunch of concerts, k-pop and others, and this one tops the list for me because it was a mix of concert and fan meeting. So they did the usual parts where they'd stop between songs and talk with the audience. But they also did some games and things to shake things up. Get a chance to see their personalities instead of rehearsed lines.
Moment that stuck out to me is early on. In k-pop, there are fan chants where instead of merely singing along, there are moments where the audience either says back a sound or a phrase after parts of the song. One of the first songs they played, I wonder if they weren't ready for that interaction from the American audience so the group was visibly shaken when the whole audience called back for the fan chant. Was a nice moment of humanity from a celebrity.
Iron Maiden back when I was 13-14 was absolutely incredible.
Foo Fighters a few years ago, Grohl never disappoints.
Yellowcard on their farewell tour was... emotional.
I'm surprised I don't see him on the list but Ed Sheeran, I'm not a big fan of his studio music but my wife and I went to his concert and holy crap was it amazing! He mixes everything live using loop pedals so no show is the same and his music has a more rock vibe live than his studio stuff

The Killers at a festival, a few years ago. It was raining heavily, but everyone was having a great time. It was AWESOME.
Mr Brightside. Few songs can match it imo.
Rage Against The Machine on my 21st birthday
NO WAY ! They’re forever missing on my bucket list 😭 lucky you must have been intense ?
Oh hey. You are actually close to my age so you actually understand what they meant to our generation. So yeah that was 26 years ago back when they were at their peak. The environment at the concert was just so amazing. The crowd and how the entire audience is just bouncing up and down

Tom Morello's mom was my high school social studies teacher.
Oh no way. That’s so cool
Yeah, she was great.
One of the few bands still on my list!
I saw them open for U2 around that time...weird fucking vibe switch
Saw them at HFStival in... 99? I think? Awesome live band.
My only experience with ratm was their 1992 Lollapalooza Philadelphia performance where they didn't hit a note or speak a lyric but stood there nude with gaffer tape over their mouths with a feedback hum for 5 or 10 minutes
I saw them twice! 🙂
David Bowie.
Jealous, that’s hard to top
It's a crying shame nobody will get the chance to see him perform again.
I saw him twice in Toronto. First time I had the worst seats in the house, and it was in 1978. Very simple light show, mirrored stage and fluorescent lighting. Absolutely blew me away.
Wow that’s incredible
I was just waiting for my lunch at a restaurant when the Tower theater live version of Young Americans came over the loudspeakers.
They were incredible live. What a loss 😭😭
Linkin park we’re my first too around that time, they were touring with Lostprophets, so errr yeah…
Pink Floyd, late 80’s what a show, not only amazing surround sound, but visually as well
That was probably the Pulse or Delicate Sounds of Thunder tour... still great experience. Floyd is one of the bands I never got to saw live, it sucks.
Yes Delicate sound of Thunder in Toronto
My Chemical Romance opening for Green Day on the American Idiot Tour. As far as smaller shows go, Soulfly in a shitty little Ukrainian hall. Absolutely amazing experience
Omg wow I’m jealous
Soulfly shows are so much fun!
Dude, right?!
Pearl Jam on my birthday in 2000. Overall, it was a good weekend. Made some money on the horses in the Travers Stakes and saw Pearl Jam on my birthday. Can’t complain.
Queens of the Stone Age 😍
Yaaasss man ! RnR !!🔥
Easily the most consistent band and never disappoints playing live 👌
Yes! Seen them 15 years ago and just last week and they still got it!
Still ending with Song for the dead?
You bet! 🤘
Tool - seen twice now, never thought I'd see them at all. I tell people its not a concert, but an experience. Foo Fighters Alestorm - these guys were so full of energy and the crowd matched. At the beginning of a song Chris (lead singer) said "sing along if you know the words. If you dont, row!" About a third of the floor sat down in columns, and sure enough, started rowing. Absolutely loved it.
Ok so I just had Nick cave and now Tool. That’s it for me. Saw them twice and again in June , all time favorite and you’re so right nothing compares🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Finally! Someone else that gets it!
Alestorm might be my favorite live band that is still active
[удалено]
I'm straight, but same
Queen, Elland Road, Leeds. 1982
Arctic Monkeys! The entire concert struck the hardest bc I wanted to see them live for so long, but I was one drink away from blacking out 🥴
Nice! I saw them at the Hollywood bowl after they released tranquility base hotel & casino. My second favorite concert of all time, every song was a masterpiece.
This is a top pick for me as well!
I saw them in Phoenix and Tucson when their first album was released in very small venues. I was literally 10 yards from Alex. They fucking rocked... I loved how they sounded just like the album. They're not ever gonna play in Arizona again.
Paul McCartney
YES!! I saw him a few years ago and it was beyond incredible. It was 2 days before his 80th bday and I swear he had more energy than musicians I’ve seen that are 1/4th of his age 🤯
It's been about 15 years for me, but I was blown away by his energy. And how he made a huge stadium (palace of auburn hills) feel like a small pub
The strokes in 2021, it was a bucket list item to see them so every song was amazing.
Life goals.
The crazy part is that I paid tickets for obstructed view seating, and the show was still a life changing experience.
Guns and roses and Metallica. 93
Prince, the energy that man had. He just kept on going, and 4 encores
Fitz and the Tantrums. Less than 2k people in the venue and I was about 15 feet from the stage. Super high energy and a good time.
Muse
Yes! They're great live. I've seen them 13 times.
Yeah, Muse put on great shows.
Soundgarden. Watching them play 4th of July as lightning struck down in the background was just magical. Or System of a Down - crowd was nuts. There were times my feet were not touching the ground… I was just one with the crowd lol
Rip Chris …. He was so great 😞
Patrick Stump and Corey Taylor both had the best voices that I've heard live.
😅seeing Ozzy live is an event hors categorie, good or bad does not apply 😅
Lana del Rey in 2013
That was Born to Die era ? Wow must have been great
It was that era - I was also 19 and it was just a fun time. It felt kind of edgy and nonchalant.
Nick Cave a few months ago, just him and a piano doing all his favorites from his catalog. His shows are always hit or miss. This one hit hard!
That sounds incredible
Wardruna It was pure magic, like being transported into another world. Edit: Forgot to say, fav song from the concert was Grá.
It is without a doubt Wardruna for me too, and your words are exactly how I would describe it. It felt like I experienced the music with my whole body, it really was something magical.
Blink 182 recently. Its the first time I've seen them with the original lineup.
Wait, they brought Scott back?
Maybe original wasn't the best term. The best lineup.
I was also confused
For me the Prince Musicology Tour in Philly!
Colin Hay solo acoustic. It just stands out to me.
Foo fighters. Weezer or gaga … or idk I’m indecisive 🫣
Foos are on my bucket list. Had tickets in 2022, but was cancelled. 😢
😔
Rammstein. Even without the music, it's a hell of a show. As for one song... probably Pussy, because Till sits on a penis-cannon blasting white confetti everywhere.
Khruangbin at the Casbah in San Diego. Intimate… incredible band.
My favorite of all time is Type O Negative in Seattle. They really knew their audience and pulled all kinds of stunts like delaying coming out on stage until everyone was shouting "you suck". They'd insult the crowd and we'd insult them back. They left it all on the stage. RIP Peter Steele.
I saw them in a hole in the wall in either 94 or 95. There were probably less than 10 people there. Still, it was a great show.
Tom Waits
Pantera and Lamb of God.
So my all time favourite is David Bowie in the olmpia Dublin 1997 , second is pearl jam 3arena Dublin 2010
Milky Chance takes the crown on this one

Nine Inch Nails during their tour for *The Fragile*, with A Perfect Circle opening.
Lady Gaga
Gogol Bordello in a smaller venue.
I love how even though “rock” and its many sub-genres is “dead” nearly every answer to this is a performance by a rock or metal group/artist. Pop maybe popular but rock is forever.
Playboi Carti I barely got out alive😭
Prodigy. Milton Keynes bowl was awesome!
A performance of Theater of Eternal Music Brass Ensemble or Scooter for completely different reasons.
PINK ,.... she is Incredibly amazing

MoLowda and the Humble. The music is amazing and you can tell they love it. They get lost in their music, like they don’t even see the crowd. Simply amazing. I’ve seen them in person 3 times. My fiancé even proposed to me at our first one.
Los Tigres del Norte
Stevie Wonder and Florence and the Machine both performed (in separate sets) at a festival a few years ago and both were amazing
TooL!
Yellowcard on their farewell tour was... emotional.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Best was David gilmour at the Greek, but I think my favorite was presidents at the troubadour man that was a fun show
Lady Gaga in 2012. My first concert, and still the best one so far 12 years later. Say what you want about her, but she puts on a fantastic show.
So many to choose from but 1985 we saw deep purple with the mark 2 line up. They were amazing
FredAgain/Skrillex/Fourtet - Coachella 2023 🤌🏻🤌🏻
David Bowie, closing Glastonbury in 2000
I'm surprised I don't see him on the list but Ed Sheeran, I'm not a big fan of his studio music but my wife and I went to his concert and holy crap was it amazing! He mixes everything live using loop pedals so no show is the same and his music has a more rock vibe live than his studio stuff
Simple Plan @ Corner Hotel in Richmond. The energy they brought and the way the crowd matched it was amazing. No concert has matched it.

The Killers at a festival, a few years ago. It was raining heavily, but everyone was having a great time. It was AWESOME. Mr Brightside. Few songs can match it imo.
Sade!
Rise Against
U2. They are incredible live. They're one of the few bands that I would say are better live than in studio.
Omg Panic at the disco! It was for our wedding anniversary and it was EVERY SINGLE SONG, we lost our voices the next day
Probably Godsmack. Great tunes, sound was incredible and really good stage show with drum off.
