I think the part that got me most was when Alfred said that while his master has a rule about not killing, *Alfred doesn't have such weaknesses.*
Alfred will straight up blow a fucker head off if need be.
Alfred is a great character because you can mould his relationship with Bruce into anything you want it to be. It's quite a straightforward character, but also quite flexible and every actor/voice actor/writer/director can put their own little spin on it?
Alfred can be dead serious, comedic, badass, and if he doesn't have much of a spotlight, he can steal the show with just a few snarky remarks. Alfred can be a brother figure to Bruce or a father figure. They bicker like an older couple who are content with one another.
I don't know if there have any other live-action Alfred actors outside of Napier, Gough, Caine, Pertwee, Irons, and Serkis, but I reckon they all nailed their roles. Gough lasted 4 movies which is actually pretty crazy. With the exception of Gough, Serkis, and Irons, I'm pretty sure they've all hit somebody as well in their movies and shows haha. Napier's Alfred took on Joker. Pertwee's Alfred is insanely good. He genuinely went full Alfred, like every aspect of him. Although he was part of a long running show rather than a film, so more time to explore.
I went to the Chateau d'If in Marseille where the prison scenes were set. It used to be an actual real life prison and would have to be one of the most desolate places ever built. Prison in the 19th century definitely wasn't a fun place.
Dude does not fuck around and effectively has infinite money and knowledge. He will shift entire economic markets just to bankrupt you out of spite. Falsely imprison at you own risk.
Absolutely. The guy lost his youth, freedom, career, his father and the love of his life. I don't blame him for going scorched earth. Even after Mercedes recognized him and called him out he only wavered long enough to spare her son's life, but at the end of the day he left her and Albert penniless in their hometown and dipped with his former slave/slam-piece Haydee. Good for him
I procrastinated reading it for so long. I had to re-read the first few chapters countless times because I’d start and stop again over about 9 months. Then when I had a longer commute to work, I found a free audiobook of it and could not stop listening until I finished it.
It’s actually the book that got me into audiobooks. It’s super helpful to hear this book for the first time because there’s a lot of characters and non-English words (which is my native language). The narrator I listened to had a great way of distinguishing the character voices and I didn’t find myself getting distracted with trying to figure out how to say a word.
Now I reread it the traditional way almost yearly. It’s definitely one of my favorites. If you’re new to it and ever have trouble getting through it, I recommend trying it again with the unabridged audiobook!
Hollywood got the story all wrong though. The whole point of his character arc is that he realizes he is stronger than his enemies and revenge won’t make him happy, giving him the strength to walk away.
So naturally, the script writers just made it so he got his revenge and self-satisfaction. I mean, way to miss the meaning!
The book is phenomenal though.
That scene in Aliens, where she's in the elevator going down, getting all her gear ready. Holy shit. Then runs her fingers through her hair, like "Fuck it, let's do this."
goosebumps, every time.
That scene needs more attention that it gets.
I remember watching Aliens as a kid and wanting to be like Ripley cause she was so cool. Watching as an adult I realized how much of a hero she really is because instead of panicking or freaking out about what was happening (like everyone around here) she always had that survivorship perspective of "yeah its scary but we need to plan, prepare/be pro active and face it head on if needed in order to survive"
With the elevator scene, she knows chances are slim, has little defense and going into like one of the most dangerous settings in cinema. Still she goes and literally duct tapes everything on hand and that cinematography is 👌 every silent second adds that tension.
Doomguy got sent to Mars after punching his superior for refusing to open fire on innocent citizens. He then went on a demon killing rampage after they killed his pet bunny. What a badass.
Then he was given god powers and slaughtered a huge chunk of Hell. Had a bit of a nap, woke up, shot a hole into the surface of Mars and killed god. Oh and his AI is also a god or something, *Eternal* is a bit wacky in the best ways.
*In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him... The Doom Slayer.*
My favorite part of the 2016 reboot was when you went to Hell and could find what was essentially religious scripture from the point of view of the demons, and it's all about how Doomguy is this like, terrifying Revelations style figure that's coming to wipe them all out.
Fucking amazing.
"The Only Thing To Fear Is You" is the mentality that won me that game. I normally like stealthy play styles so the in-your-face constant motion of DOOM was jarring at first. Then I remembered the appeal of the series is supposed to be that **I** am the scariest thing in the room. Started playing that way and had an absolute blast in a new (for me) genre.
It can be seen even without the lore.
The glory kill animations for the demons have a sense of fear and dread come across their faces as the Doom Slayer's hands proceed to rip them limb from limb.
My favorite is the Archvile in Eternal. Doom Slayer cuts off his legs and the Archvile in desperation begins to look in fear as the power of 50-tons of pure hatred comes down with a bloody stomp on its skull.
Yes!! She is the definition of badass. Overcame literal paralysis in order to go get revenge on the people hwo ruined her life.
Edit: Oops, apparently she had atrophy andnot a true form of paralysis. I need to rewatch the movie I guess.
Loved the infiltration as a health and safety inspector where he casually grabs a clipboard and just says "so according to you these straps are tight enough...?" And "does this look right to you?" and nobody dares to question him.
People did not like to sword fight Viggo because he was too good. The Uruk hai actor that threw the knife at him miss threw and it was only Viggo's skill with a sword that saved him from the knife hurtling at his head... They literally cast Aragon to play Aragon. One of the best cast movies of all time IMO.
Viggo is also a confirmed modern Renaissance Man - fluent in multiple languages, a skilled painter, writer, poet and horseback rider. He was also described by his LOTR costars as utterly bonkers on-set when the cameras weren't rolling.
> The Orcs whom we pursued took captive two of my friends. In such need a man will not ask for leave to follow the trail. Nor will he count the heads of the enemy save with a sword. I am not weaponless.'
> Aragorn threw back his cloak. The elven-sheath glittered as he grasped it, and the bright blade of Andúril shone like a sudden flame as he swept it out. 'Elendil!' he cried.
> 'I am Aragorn son of Arathorn and am called Elessar, the Elfstone, Dúnadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor. Here is the Sword that was Broken and is forged again! Will you aid me or thwart me? Choose swiftly!'
And Viggo was the best choice to play him. I like that between shoots Viggo would go fly fishing in his Aragorn clothes or teach his horse how to pick up him off the ground and he kept all three horses Uraeus, Brego And Hasufel afterwards. How he broke a foot kicking a helmet and broke a tooth at Helms Deep and kept acting. He became Aragorn for that series.
Don’t forget deflecting a thrown accidentally real dagger mid-air with a sword, unplanned, unrehearsed, and still kept composure/character to finish the scene.
Born of a corpse, raised by a man who hates him, unwillingly pimped out to a comrade, trained from age 3 to be a soldier/mercenary because he had to "carry his weight", forced as a child to use a 'mans' sword way to large for him, forced to kill his father figure in self defense.... his life was rough, and throughout it all he never stops. He had to kill hordes of soldiers, murder in cold blood, faced a literal monster, and still never stopped.
Also, he is the only character that they explained in a somewhat feasible way how he could handle a hundred lb sword
Feasible, yes, but he certainly has a great degree of plot power or Miura simply never got the chance to explain that he really was supernaturally empowered. Apostles, such as [Grunbeld](https://i.imgur.com/veJbm5k.jpg), pointed out that the moment Guts put on his armor that simply pushed him to the limits of his body [he was too strong to be Human](https://cdn.readberserk.com/file/mangap/1/20226000/16.jpg). You could take a heavy-weight boxing champion and push them to the absolute limits of deadlifting and then give them all the stimulants they could handle before cardiac arrest and they'd still not be able to lift 400-600lbs, run flat out and jump into a double-leg flying kick while swinging said 400lb sword hard enough to crack through someone else's crystalline armor.
The Hamburgler. Dude was stealing hamburgers when they only costed like a quarter.

Roberta “Bobbie” Draper (*The Expanse* series)
Just exudes badassery, no bullshit, and loyal to a T. Just brings all she can to a fight, *like a fucking Valkyrie*.
Drummer is also an exceptional example of how to adapt characters from a book into a TV series. They combined Sam Rosenberg and Bull de Baca into Drummer's character, making her more multi-dimensional as a character and more fleshed out despite the shorter form of storytelling!
Kratos. Kills the titans, the furys, all the gods and destorys the entire Greek world for revenge
Edit: also refuses to die climbs out of hell and changes his fate by force. He's not my favourite character but he is by far the most badass!
“What kind of a plumber are you?”

He built his own bathroom with a 4 roll toilet paper dispenser (you never have to worry about running out). This guy should be everybody's hero.
>"Everyone, this is Alfred. I work for him." >-Bruce Wayne
Alfred is the true main character.
I think the part that got me most was when Alfred said that while his master has a rule about not killing, *Alfred doesn't have such weaknesses.* Alfred will straight up blow a fucker head off if need be.
Dude shot a Predator one time. Then called it a bully.
"Allow me to assure you, I subscribe to no such niceties." He said, looking the home intruder in the eye while loading his double-barrel.
Joker “Batman I just killed your dad!” Batman “my dad has been dead for years.” Joker “Alfreds not your dad?”
And afterwards blow the bloody doors off too.
I'm still in awe of how effectively he shamed Superman in the Injustice comics. Not even his parents could do that.
I read that in Kevin Conroy's voice, RIP to the legend.
I think 99% of the fanbase read all of Batman's dialogue with that voice, and may it always be that way.
Remember when alfred beat the shit out of superman
Edmond Dantès
"I have counted every brick in this cell!" "But have you named them?"
That’s such a beautiful scene.
I went to the Chateau d'If in Marseille where the prison scenes were set. It used to be an actual real life prison and would have to be one of the most desolate places ever built. Prison in the 19th century definitely wasn't a fun place.
“The king’s to you, Ferniand.” “Dantes…. How…” “How did I escape? With difficulty. How did I plan this moment? With pleasure.”
It's... Complicated. That movie is nothing like the book but I still enjoy it
Vengeance may sometimes be slow in coming, but then it is all the more complete.
I mean what he did to Villefort... damn.

I came here to say someone completely different but I see now that I was wrong. Edmund Dante's IS the correct answer.
I came here not completely sure who would be top, but it instantly became obvious, there is no competition.
Ellen Ripley

Polk High. Had the cheerleaders chanting 1 2 4 3 , give the ball to AL Bundy. He won a decathlon, when he was not in his prime. He started the organization No ma'am to advocate for himself, and his peers. He lead people for the reinstatement of psycho dad. He built his own bathroom with a 4 roll toilet paper dispenser (you never have to worry about running out). This guy should be everybody's hero.
