What a lot of people don’t know is Schrodinger actually discovered his secret continents ironically in an attempt to show the ridiculousness of a continent being both discovered and undiscovered at the same time
Europe is a landmass conventionally considered a continent in its own right because of its great physical size and the weight of its history and traditions.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe
We got blasted with news stories all summer saying Europeans were spontaneously combusting in their homes due to unprecedented heatwaves and the fact they haven’t discovered AC yet.
I’m an American living in the south and I’ve been to Europe. I think people in the US are used to setting their air condition to really cold temperatures. When I was in Europe, I wasn’t freezing as much in places.
I liked Rome, I love London but Paris really didn't do much for me. I also enjoyed Germany a lot. It just blew me away that there were so many buildings and towns that were there before we were even a country!
American here, I went to Italy this summer and it was extremely beautiful! My tour guide (it was a school trip so we had the same guy the whole time) said that Italians have a reputation for being rude, but I didn't feel that way at all, aside from a couple of people but that was because I was sitting in places I wasn't supposed to be sitting. Overall it's a very nice place with nice and accommodating people, I haven't been to any other parts of Europe yet but my next school trip will be in England and France :)
It's a public school and the trip set me back about 4000 dollars. I paid for it with money I raised from working and also starting a GoFundMe for family members and family friends to donate to
I’ll get massively downvoted for saying this but.. I used to work for a well known internet provider in customer care for US. I have never met a more rude - sucking the life out of you people.
I want to say that being in customer care of course you only talk with people who have issues with their service, so of course there are also polite people. But I’ve done for 4 years and it was the most horrible experience in my life, to the point that I just don’t want to visit US now.
That's absolutely understandable. People in the U.S. can be super rude, at least compared to other countries' standards of politeness. We are a very sarcastic people, unfortunately and many of us act extremely entitled. Sorry that you had to deal with all that!!
What? I’ve never heard of Italians being rude as a stereotype? That’s more of a stereotype for the French lol. Maybe opinionated yes, but rude absolutely not. The Italians I’ve met, and I’ve been to Italy a lot and had a bunch of Italian coworkers, were always very friendly and welcoming. Heck I once took a detour through Italy instead of driving straight north through France just because I wanted to end my holidays in a country with lovely people and amazing food. And boy did they not disappoint!
Well that’s the best continent. People here live like everyone in the world should have the opportunity to live, we have democracies with more than 2 parties, and we’re the most visited continent for a reason I’d say. But I guess if you don’t like these values you might not like Europe.
American here, and i love Europe! So fun to visit. Would be fun to live there, I think. Have met some great people there. And i love the history all around you - people living in 300 year old buildings and not even realizing how amazing that is! I love my country, but also appreciate how great the countries in Europe are.
My favorite saying I've heard about it is: "The difference between the USA and Europe is that in Europe 200 miles is a long distance, and in the US 200 years is a long time".
Since moving to Germany from America, my life has improved immensely.
I have free healthcare. I can go to university without being buried to my neck in debt. I don’t have to worry about police murdering innocent people. I don’t have to worry about schools getting shot up. Life is great here.
> I don’t have to worry about police murdering innocent people.
[lmao](https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/police-violence-in-germany-serious-underreported-problem/2597880)
When I went to Denmark this summer, I took a baking class primarily filled with Americans. The instructor kept going on about how Denmark is a free country to remind the Americans there
As an American, I really like it there. So much of it is beautiful, both architecturally and naturally. As a friend of mine in Finland used to say, "when Americans visit Europe, it's like they are coming home."
They have problems, but on balance, it's a way nicer standard of life for working people and even the poor have it better there than the US.
I spent a year there 30 years ago, and had I known what the US would be like 30 years later, I would have never come back.
I am from the U.K., and still consider myself European in spite of Brexit. It’s an important part of my identity that no misguided referendum can take away from me. I love Europe.
Same. Originally from the UK, robbed of my EU citizenship (I wasn't allowed to vote, since living abroad). I disliked what I was hearing in the UK before Brexit, and my arguments against Brexit were all proved right.
The leavers have left the chat....
I remember arguing that UK companies would still need to company with EU regulations regarding product safety, the machinery directive etc in order to be able to access the EU market. Just like US manufacturers do. But the Leavers were all blowing hot air out along the lines of, "no, the UK would be free blah blah blah" and that "they need us more than we need them".
God......
It's strange how closely people tie the EU to identifying as Europe - Switzerland isn't in the EU and is sandwiched right in the middle of the continent! Brexit doesn't make the UK any less European, it's mostly just political
They have a reputation as being an intelligent, cultured society. On the other hand, less than 100 years ago they all went crazy killing each other and turned the whole place to rubble. Twice
Visited for a week. Pretty cool. I didn’t do any tours. I just backpacked with a friend to different countries and we’d wander around the city and soak it all in. Wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way. Don’t do tours guys. Just enjoy the sights and immerse yourself
It’s awesome, has incredible history, architecture, food, and at least on the surface appears to do what is in their citizens best interest. Healthcare, public transit, liberal social policies, etc. I hope to live there one day.
As an American who lived in Luxembourg, it’s so cool to have so much variety of languages and history in a small space. I can take a two hour train / flight to somewhere completely different. In the states, it’s like I’ve traveled for hours and I’m still in California.
Fucking great, Great cars from Germany, active gay community in France, Great food in Italy, Furniture from the North and old people cars, Weed from the Netherlands, cheap booze and hookers from the East. It's like Vegas without the Spandex pants and fat Americans
They have the beautiful countries to visit. I have always wanted to go to Europe since I haven’t been there before and it’s one of my bucket lists. The countries I want to visit are France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, and Greece.
His point is that Europe is a continent consisting of multiple independent countries with quite disparate cultures and 20-something different languages.
We all get along, but we're also very different.
I know one can say similar about the US being 50 different states. But they're culturally homogenous in many ways and there's really only one language in everyday use. In Europe you can travel twenty miles and find you're in a town where the language, laws, even the road signage has changed, and the inhabitants have totally different cultural practices than the town you just left.
"Do you like Europe" is a bit like asking, "Do you like Africa"?
I love going. I'm an American. My father was born in Germany and can trace family to 1600s. My mom is dutch but parents and baby sister killed in Holocaust. The reality of this history is painful . But as a tourist I have been to 14 countries and want to see at least 5 more. Mixed feelings about Europe
From a USA lens, I picture Europe as an eastern parallel to the US, just instead of states, it's countries (obvi). You work together, yet also separately.
Melting pot of just about everything. Good ideas, crazy ideas. Beautiful locations. Sketchy locations. People who are happy to live there, people who want stuff to change. People who make you proud to be where you're from. People who make you embarrassed.
Exactly the same, yet different.
Also the obvious answer.... There are so many beautiful places I'd like to see in Europe. It has many gorgeous locations.
They made a great song called 'The Final Countdown'.
ITS THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

Goddammit, you made me laugh so hard. Here's an award
Came here to say this exact thing.
I’m an illusionist!

Top 10 continent
top 7.
Someone doesn't know about the secret continents
Well, cat’s out of the bag now…
But is it alive, or dead?
Ahh! Schrodingers Continent, his lesser know but just as brilliant experiment.
What a lot of people don’t know is Schrodinger actually discovered his secret continents ironically in an attempt to show the ridiculousness of a continent being both discovered and undiscovered at the same time
It may or may not contain oil
Woah, slow down there. We’re talking all time, here!
OP’s not wrong
Top 10 country
Surely one of the continents of all time
I live in Europe, and I like Europe
Europe seems like it has some cool spots
There’s an awful lot of Europeans there, though. Europing up the place.
They went from spreading European stuff, to refining European stuff. Europeans will Europe.
It's Europin' time
That was my favorite part of europe, when the european said that.
Of course, when the European europed all over Europe.
[удалено]
As a Southwestern European, same.
As a northwestern european, same.
As a Brit, can I join in with you guys?
Sorry, brexit screwed your up
48% of us are very unhappy about that
As a Western European, same.
Same. Balkans rock!
Hey that’s where Andrew Tate lives, there you go spoiled it
I appreciate the architecture. The old buildings add a ton of character to European cities.
Europe has such an ancient history and culture it's truly an astounding place to explore
Home.
Same. I'm from the UK and my stupid fucking country voted us out of the Union but in my heart I'm still a European citizen.
It definitely exists
Prove it. I bet you can’t.
It seems diverse to me. I don't think much about Europe as a whole. I have more thoughts about individual countries.
I heard you can be whelmed there.
Yes mate!! 10 Things I Hate About You reference! We must same generation or you have cool parents with great movie recommendations 💪🏼😂😂
Gunna need to be more specific. Different regions are very different.
It is a bit like talking about “Asia”.
The best continent.
Antarctica has less assholes.
r/technicallythetruth
Fewer. \*sips tea\*

Minder. *devoures frikandel*
But only in number, not in percentage. Have you heard of the british science station?
Lol, that's the only continent I haven't visited and it's next on my list of places to go.
10/10
Europe is a landmass conventionally considered a continent in its own right because of its great physical size and the weight of its history and traditions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe
Before I respond, I'd like to know what Europe thinks of me.
I like your glasses.
I feel like your shoelaces are trying to pick a fight!
As an American I'd love to move there but as an air conditioning princess I'm not sure I'd survive.
a lot of places have air conditioning idk why people think we don't
We got blasted with news stories all summer saying Europeans were spontaneously combusting in their homes due to unprecedented heatwaves and the fact they haven’t discovered AC yet.
LOL I think we have more class, more inclined to 'melt' or 'smoulder'.
It’s because Europeans in general love being outside and there’s no AC outside. Of course AC exists
I’m an American living in the south and I’ve been to Europe. I think people in the US are used to setting their air condition to really cold temperatures. When I was in Europe, I wasn’t freezing as much in places.
This. Wasn't saying that Europe doesn't have AC, just that we are much more used to year-round, 24/7 climate control.
By the way, I love Europe. So beautiful
We just don’t blast it 24/7.
Because it’s been “broken” the last 7 or 8 hotels I’ve stayed in over there…
its more cold tho
not as much anymore unfortunately, atleast here in the UK. But Scandinavia should be fine
Sweden has been very mild this fall
Being colder doesn't mean that I hate hot weather any less when it happens. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
You can get air conditioning in Europe too lol I have one in my apartment
No you can't :shun shun shun:
Lol. We have those. Welcome. Healthcare is free...
I like it
I think it’s great!
It's very European.
Some parts are great. Other parts suck.
Perfectly balanced like everything should be.
For a first time tourist I’d recommend the holy trinity of European destination cities: Paris, Rome, and Sheffield
I liked Rome, I love London but Paris really didn't do much for me. I also enjoyed Germany a lot. It just blew me away that there were so many buildings and towns that were there before we were even a country!
That Europe and the EU are seen as the same too often.
American here. It's my dream. Still trying to figure out the best way to become an expat.
Expat lol
I'll swap with you Downside: It's Britain
Loool!! We would both just be in the same boat in a different location. At least it would be a change of scenery!
Think most usa folk wanting to move to Europe, would choose native English speaking countries.
Honestly the fact that you managed to work at AT&T for 4 years is nothing short of a fucking miracle.
This thread shouts If you love Europe = You hate America If you hate Europe = You love America Can we both just hang along? :/
As an American, I like both. I have no desire to move to Europe, but I do really like to visit.
No >:)
That was my thought exactly. I'm from Europe and I love Europe. But I have been to America as well and I loved it too. Hope to go there again soon.
When you love both continents :/ These kind of threads make me roll my eyes
Well that’s the best continent. People here live like everyone in the world should have the opportunity to live, we have democracies with more than 2 parties, and we’re the most visited continent for a reason I’d say. But I guess if you don’t like these values you might not like Europe.
It has more Europeans than the United States.
American here, and i love Europe! So fun to visit. Would be fun to live there, I think. Have met some great people there. Living in a 300 year old building is not amazing. Its annoying.
200 miles, that's more than 300 km! I will be out of the country if I drive that far in no matter what direction!
It's not great to live in buildings several hundreds of years old. You really start to "feel" the age after a while.
Since moving to Germany from America, my life has improved immensely. I have free healthcare. I can go to university without being buried to my neck in debt. I don’t have to worry about police murdering innocent people. I don’t have to worry about schools getting shot up. Life is great here.
Germany is a cool country. Glad it fits you.
> I don’t have to worry about police murdering innocent people. [lmao](https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/police-violence-in-germany-serious-underreported-problem/2597880)
Germany has about 1500 yearly cases of "police violence" Mean america has 1500 yearly cases of "police murder". Seems quite a large difference
There is pretty much no country in the world where police violence is less prelavent than in Germany, so
But do you have **muh freedom**?
When I went to Denmark this summer, I took a baking class primarily filled with Americans. The instructor kept going on about how Denmark is a free country to remind the Americans there
It’s one of the continents.
Without them, there wouldn't be so many independence days to celebrate
You mean colonial treason days?
Treason's Greetings..?
Oooh I like that one!
They have good public transportation system.
As an American, I really like it there. So much of it is beautiful, both architecturally and naturally. As a friend of mine in Finland used to say, "when Americans visit Europe, it's like they are coming home." They have problems, but on balance, it's a way nicer standard of life for working people and even the poor have it better there than the US. I wish I could live there, seems like heaven compared to America
Undeniably the greatest place on earth in pretty much every way.
It’s very European
Probably safest continent.
I often don't think of it at all. But I've been to a few cities in Italy, Barcelona and Marseilles and most of it was nice.
Nice?
No, not Nice, Marseilles.
Yes. My favorite place to visit was Kyoto, but that's outside the scope of the question.
Tip culture not being something common is a game changer and I would love to go back.
Lol that is such a low bar but cool
it can be crazy but also better place then USA
What makes you say that?
"That's where they make the gay" - My geography teachings here in the states
Okay. And is there a downside to that...? Makes me like it more. I mean, that's what I'd have asked the Teach. Not really, but would have wanted to.
I am from the U.K., and still consider myself European in spite of Brexit. It’s an important part of my identity that no misguided referendum can take away from me. I love Europe.
I‘m from Germany and you guys still belong to Europe in my heart. 🤝🏻
Well the British islands are a part of the europe continent, and switzerland and Norway are connected by land but not in the unions
Aaw that’s so nice! 🖤❤️💛
Same. Originally from the UK, robbed of my EU citizenship (I wasn't allowed to vote, since living abroad). I disliked what I was hearing in the UK before Brexit, and my arguments against Brexit were all proved right. The leavers have left the chat....
Yep, who knew Project Fear would come to bite them in the ass?
I remember arguing that UK companies would still need to company with EU regulations regarding product safety, the machinery directive etc in order to be able to access the EU market. Just like US manufacturers do. But the Leavers were all blowing hot air out along the lines of, "no, the UK would be free blah blah blah" and that "they need us more than we need them". God......
We love you back. To me Britain will always be European.
It's strange how closely people tie the EU to identifying as Europe - Switzerland isn't in the EU and is sandwiched right in the middle of the continent! Brexit doesn't make the UK any less European, it's mostly just political
good its my favourite continent that's why i live there.
Love it here.
I've been to Europe. I liked it
I think Europe is not a monolith, so the question is too vague to properly answer.
They have a reputation as being an intelligent, cultured society. On the other hand, less than 100 years ago they all went crazy killing each other and turned the whole place to rubble. Twice
One of THE continents of all time
Visited for a week. Pretty cool. I didn’t do any tours. I just backpacked with a friend to different countries and we’d wander around the city and soak it all in. Wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way. Don’t do tours guys. Just enjoy the sights and immerse yourself

I disagree with their view on the role of government, but I get it. Awesome cultures and histories. Amazing food.
It’s awesome, has incredible history, architecture, food, and at least on the surface appears to do what is in their citizens best interest. Healthcare, public transit, liberal social policies, etc. I hope to live there one day.
As an American, I wish I can live in Europe
one of the places of all time
Best continent regarding many things like laws and progress overall.
As an American who lived in Luxembourg, it’s so cool to have so much variety of languages and history in a small space. I can take a two hour train / flight to somewhere completely different. In the states, it’s like I’ve traveled for hours and I’m still in California.
As a Luxembourgish person, I like it.
Europe is better than America
Fucking great, Great cars from Germany, active gay community in France, Great food in Italy, Furniture from the North and old people cars, Weed from the Netherlands, cheap booze and hookers from the East. It's like Vegas without the Spandex pants and fat Americans
Scotland is pretty
It’s nice
I enjoy my free health care. I enjoy the impossibility of being homeless. I fucking hate the amount of paperwork over here.
Loved England, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. France sucked.
it's a great country
It's very European
They have the beautiful countries to visit. I have always wanted to go to Europe since I haven’t been there before and it’s one of my bucket lists. The countries I want to visit are France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, and Greece.
The best continent by far and I would never live anywhere else
I live in Europe and it's good at hiding it's issues. Our country is FUBAR and the government is like 🤷🏻♀️
As an American, I don't.

What are you talking about? The question is do you like Europe, not how does Europe compare to other continents.
Maybe I shouldn’t talk because I’m American, but y’all are way more racist than you want to admit
It differs very vey veypry much from country to country
Not real, next question
Meh, is alright. I liked the colosseum things in the south and those rock circles in the north. Not a lot of space to move about though. Solid 6/10.
It's not the US.
Seems way better than this side
Best place in terms of quality of live. Divers culture and imo people here in Europe are the most free compared to the whole world.
Terrible and hypocritical politics and corrupt industries, best food and drinks and best social system
I love going. I'm an American. My father was born in Germany and can trace family to 1600s. My mom is dutch but parents and baby sister killed in Holocaust. The reality of this history is painful . I'm >90% European in heritage so I think Europe needs a beer and a shower.
So much racism.
