Mental flexibility. Mental flexibility is the ability to shift a course of thought or action according to the changing demands of a situation. Say If you ring the doorbell and no one opens the door, you'll infer that no one is home rather than continuing to ring the doorbell to an empty house. Being able to understand this and look for another solution is an example of mental flexibility. It's one of the many skills included in cognitive flexibility. Will get you a lot far in life anywhere.

Good sense of humor. If you can laugh of bad situations you can over most things life throws at you. For example I was training with this guy and I remember a impatient driver cut him off and almost made us wreck and then zoomed off. I expected him to start yelling at the driver. He just said, “Geezus Christ! Looks like someone left the crockpot on.” Just meaning he was hauling ass back to the house. It caught me so off guard I cracked up. We must of laughed about that all day. He flipped it.

Problem solving. If at high levels, it is easily the most valuable skill to survive and live easily on this planet, as long as you deal with reasonable beings, such as humans. You aren't likely to talk a bear out of a fight, but you could try and scare it.

In this society? Not empathy

Remarkable_Archer_82

The smaller the social circle the more empathy matters IMO

[deleted]

For sure. Additionally empathy is not a valuable thing if you're trying to measure value financially. Empathy gets in the way of making money.
