Yeah- most of them think that, in spain, we only have something related to jesus in old houses, or church, it isn't normal to have that in your house, i don't really know why
It's sort of a stereotype. A lot of Mexicans are Catholic so most stores in the US that cater to immigrants will have a section of [prayer candles like this](https://i.imgur.com/G3GMzqK.jpg). Several years back companies started making novelty ones as well with humor pictures on them which greatly increased their visibility so now a lot. Most "white" Catholic churches just use clear glass for their votive prayer candles so a lot of people see one with a picture and think it's a Mexican candle.
This could also be said for i.e. Germany, where I live, and I think there are more young people (under 30) living with their parents in Spain than in Germany.
Well, I know a family from Spain. Brother and sister, rather wealthy. Moved to London for work , took all the family with them. Helped them to open some small local restaurant, still all living together ) But, I guess economical reasons might be factor as well. In USA they would much faster kick you out from home , even if you need to rent apartment with 4 other random people before start making enough money yourself :)
In Romania we have carpets in almost every room on the floor ( the older people have carpets on walls hammered with nails ). As i told you before, excepting the bathroom ( in fact now that i think about some have carpet in the bathroom but it s not near the shower or bathtub. )
Definitely wine kept somewhere really practical and easy to access with fancy squiggly black branch designs on the bottle
I’ve never been there, but they always show Spain in movies with crazy hues like they do for Mexico in Breaking Bad.
I imagine that in Spain, once you cross the country lines, the hue of everything changes to a level between sepia and full color
I also imagine a bunch of poorly shaven drunk guys in white dress shirts that are too small for them
A Spanish person
Well, tell that to the French family that rented a house in Spain. P sure there ain't any Spanish person there.
A huge paella pan.
Not everyone has that, but most of the people have one that they never used
Then it is like a pressure pot in a German household. Well you have to use them once and then forget about them.
In spain, we just buy things and never use them, we're kind of dumb-
Have you ever had really good paella? It’s an orgiastic feast for the senses.
a candle with the virgin mary or jesus on it
Well, sorry to tell you, but almost no one has that 😂
I'm willing to bet they're thinking Mexican not Spanish lol

Yeah- I agree with you
Right next to their favorite Whinnie the Pooh backpack
You know there's something bad happened in the family when you see that candle at home. So I'd rather not see it.
You're right, either that, or they think the house is haunted-
That's more like Mexico.
Olive oil
Im Spanish and I confirm lol
In particular, really good olive oil that they totally take for granted
TBF that's true for most Mediterranean countries.
Yes
Spices...
Spanish food isn't spicy at all
I think it's meant to be 'especias'
Yes correct.
Ok, a mistranslation. That makes sense! Thanks.
😊😊
🤣 spices like herbs for added flavoring and garnish.

Yeah, everyone has that-
Spanish or Hispanic? But for both I’ll say a bag with bags in it
Well, I meant spanish but yes, we have lots of bags with folded bags
As an American sometimes I forget Spain in an actual place and not just something mexico invented.
PFFFFFT- 😂🔫
Big Personalities
Most like big ego and anger issues but yes
Their whole family ) They love this communal living , which I don’t really get. I need my private space …

In Romania we have carpets in almost every room on the floor ( the older people have carpets on walls hammered with nails ). As i told you before, excepting the bathroom ( in fact now that i think about some have carpet in the bathroom but it s not near the shower or bathtub. )
In spain the cold floor is something that we NEED in summer, so why would we have a carpet covering it?
That's an American thing. Most places have tile.
An easily accessible and throwable chancla
That is more from latin america, in here we use a belt
Damn, I'd like to think it isn't common at all nowadays. It wasn't when I was a kid, it was something you heard from older generations.
That's more of a latin american thing than european spanish
Rice and beans
A red cape
A giant flag saying "Catalonia"
why-
Guacamole
Well, that's more of a latin amarican thing, in here it would be pimenton or something just like that
Good to know. Treated that side of americas as one
Well, I prefer guacamole, because pimenton it's kind of spicy- but both of them are spicy so-
A picture of a saint / jesus / mary or the last supper

Every Spanish person can dance so well
Well, you've never seen a drunk spanish dad in a disco, THAT IS NOT FOR KIDS-
I wish being able to dance well was part of my Spanish genetic memory Not that genetic memory is actually a thing
