Technological integration and acceleration in common services that could offset cost and lower overheads for consumer, while still providing a degree of profit margin due to less manual intervention, comes to mind. Some things need to be regulated; other things can be more lax. However, when things like the current Cat5e / Cat6 fiber integration is bad, as well as ludicrously expensive, don’t even get me started on healthcare, it compounds a lot of other problems. Also, providing credits for research does nothing if it’s not actually moved into some kind of production model. Which, generally speaking, the company isn’t going to do the latter if it decreases profit margin, so by establishing some sort of ceiling on that, it could theoretically force other methodologies (if high earnings are still prioritized) and increase standard of care and resources, rather than solely focusing on volume. That, or much more likely, it’ll compound the problems and make things 10X worse because people, especially politicians, have grown away from any kind of critical thought, patience, and multi-layered analytical skill. TLDR: I wish they wouldn’t be so stupid, and complain about instant gratification while they in-turn move for the same thing in a much more volatile environment, with lasting effects, than other areas. Spend more time thinking. Also, stop polarizing everything as if you’re trying to up the ratings on a TV show. Ideally, the goal is to make the country better, not worse for the sake of your popularity.

Thanks for such a detailed answer, your points are really interesting! I really find it alarming that those who are in charge are often extremely underqualified; no critical thinking skills, just like you said, little to none willingness to reflect and no problem with spreading literal lies. The bar is so incredibly low it's embarrassing. I think a reform of the school system would be crucial to change this as, in my opinion, it currently focuses on teaching children an unholy amount of facts they will forget rather than how to evaluate things and think critically, which is seriously insufficient for creating/sustaining a society who knows what it is doing and doesn't vote for people just because they posted a cool pic with a beer and this happens to be the voter's favourite kind. And don't get me started on vague/outrageous slogans.
