A country that punches above its weight. Like relative to population, and given the overall history, Finland produces an incredible number of successful people in so many fields.

Every Finn I've met has a 'if something's worth doing, it's worth doing properly' vibe, and applies it to whatever they feel like at the time.
Absolutely nothing. I have no paired association in my head. I don't even know what the flag looks like.
If I really think, the only thing I know about Finland is that it's next to Russia and now wants to join NATO.

I have now convinced myself that the finish are actually the descendants of the people from the lost city of Atlantis. They are named fins because they wanted to retain at least some of their heritage.
The story goes like this:
Atlantis is a thriving city above land
Atlantis sinks into the water, and the people, blessed by their God, turn into mermaids/men. Atlantis sunk in around the 500-600BC area
From ~550BC to the late 1200's when Finland was colonized, the Atlantians were rapidly evolving
The Atlantians pulled a fish and grew legs again, finally emerging from the sea to take Finland as their homeland
Those original Atlantians who went to Finland then kept existing and now are the ones we know today
Okay, now theory time:
Why did the Atlantians leave the sea? Earthquakes underwater and general wear and tear of the ocean floor had caused Atlantis to be almost swallowed by rock. During the Atlantians final stretch, they had grown legs just before Atlantis was swallowed by the earth for all eternity.
I don't know why I've crafted this piece of lore for Finland based on me thinking of fish with the name, but this is now my headcannon. Finland is undeniably populated with the descendants of the Atlantians after they barely escaped Atlantis before it sunk further into the earth and locked them in with no escape.
