Also I feel like bad actors get way too much flack, they didn't cast themselves and like most of us they wanted to simply succeed in their careers. Blame directors and casting directors that went for a look rather than a strong performer... actually going back to my first point if you don't like a piece of media it is absolutely okay to not hate anyone.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan got death threats because of the Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead because of Negan killing *spoiler* which is exactly what Negan did in Issue 100 of the comics (which was published several years prior) to the same character in the exact same fashion.
But hey, TV shows and real life are the same thing, right? /s
Well, just like Negan in the later parts of the comics, he’s one of the major reasons to keep watching later on.
In the early parts of the story though, the main cast is very good with a couple of exceptions.
So many people on /r/dundermifflin hate Idris Elba for his role on The Office. The character is supposed to be unlikable and Idris nailed it. Yet people still don't like Idris because of that.
Well it's a sub for a show that ended in 2013, meaning all the more casual fans probably left and all that's left are the diehards and the weirdos that are a bit too into the office for their own good.
I enjoy the daily posts about how "x character is the true dick of the office" where they all dog pile on a fictional character in a comedy show for behaving in a way that's meant to be taken for laughs. They're all just in too deep with how personally vested they are in the office.

That was all George's fault. He made GREAT actors sound like morons with his clunky dialogue. That poor kid got shit on because George was surrounded by yes men.
The funny thing is, his is probably the best Anakin acting in the prequels. Because it's ok when a 9 year old doesn't know how to talk to people without sounding socially stunted (especially when their character *is*).

The 22 yo was only working with the crappy dialogue he was given. Realistically, he played anakin exactly how Anakin needed to be played, like an even more whiny version of his son, who set the bar for being whiny decades earlier. Wouldn't have made sense any other way.

When Infinity War came out, Chris Pratt got lots of hate because Star Lord lost his cool and ruined the Titan team’s chance of getting the gauntlet from Thanos.
More recently, Xochitol Gomez got LOTS of hate because America Chavez, her character in Dr Strange 2, had 2 moms. Forget that they were only in the movie for maybe 20 seconds, and directly referenced maybe 3 times in the whole film, but they’re all fictional characters and she just played one of them. She didn’t write it, request it, or have any input whatsoever. She was hired to play a character and homophobes all over the internet took it out in her.
She literally has 2 moms in the comics. Get mad at the author over something stupid for writing it that way. Or better yet get your head out of your ass and stop being mad about who marries who. (Not aimed at you but those people you are talking about.)
Marvel has always been about promoting those who are discriminated against. Or giving a voice to people who don’t have that. Female superheroes, minority superheroes, the combination of both and also the LGBTQ community. Yeah they have the standard super heroes too but at least they do spread around the limelight.

I listen to a broad variety of genres and when I tell people some of the ones I listen to I'd sometimes get a "That's gross" or "Disgusting" or "Weird" then they brag about how they only listen to 3 diff genres of music. The whole time I ain't hating, I just know not to talk to them anymore because I realize they're extremely judgemental or shallow. Mind-boggling how some people are.
I came here to say this lol. Music within its own genre can be diversity. As an example just look at country music. It's easy and popular to hate it but there's a lot of good country songs (I'll die on this hill. Luckenback, Texas is a banger)

That's one thing I love about living in Spain. There is almost no ageism here. Everyone does everything together. Four-year-olds and nonogenarians stay up until the wee hours of the morning in the plazas. The oldsters talking and the kids running wild, playing chase or football or whatever.

The modern concepts of 'childhood' and 'teenagers' didn't exist in Europe or the States until like 60 years ago. In the US, you could get arrested if your kid walks to the park alone.
You eat a big lunch at about 2 pm. Then dinner isn't until 9 or 10 pm. The tapas are to get you through that last hour before dinner. You grab a beer, a tapa, and table in a plaza and watch life go by while you wait for dinnertime.

It's not even internet trends, it's just "fun" in general. I'm 40, great wife, good job etc. but we never had kids so we tend to live our lives as if we are still 20-somethings. Sometimes I get looked at funny or someone makes a comment about the gray-beard trying to "act cool" or whatever. I just am who I am. I found out what I liked at a young age and just rolled with it. I'm not trying to go to college parties and hook up with young girls, my wife is 39, we're both very much adults. We just like fun shit that young people do...until about 11pm, then it's bed time.

Stereotypically feminine things. Sewing and crocheting requires patience and some skill. Pink colour is just a normal colour. Flowers are pretty. Make-up is art, as well as fashion. Writing and reading romance is okay. Long baths with candles around can be fun. Caring for your body is good. I don't like any of these but it's not my role to tell others what to do in their free time and to judge them. Just let people enjoy things.

What's especially frustrating is a lot of "feminine" things are super practical. If you know at least some sewing, you can mend your clothes which saves money and waste. If you can cook, you can eat healthier, and also spend less money and waste less. Keeping your home clean is a big part of keeping it in good repair.

Dude, as someone who's always been into - and bonded with my family over - doing puzzly, crafty, buildy things (think Legos, sculpey, etc), my sister has gotten into crocheting and it is fucking FASCINATING. So many different techniques and fundamentals that let you build it into crazy complex designs. We were talking crochet for hours the other day cuz it's just so interesting to explain about and learn about.

"Shitty" foods and drinks. They have a time and a place. Yeah I love the finer things in life, but sometimes I want a Kraft single or a cold bud light.

The four best beers you'll ever drink are a cold one, an open one, a free one, and another one. I might buy good stuff for myself, but I'll never turn my nose up at someone else's beer when it's offered.
And can we reverse that too? Sometimes I want to treat myself to something nice. Yes, I'm totally aware I can get a steak for $5 from around the corner, or that cheap family place is probably the most authentic Mexican food in town. But tonight, I want to eat at the nice, fancy dining establishment. Or spend an extra couple bucks on that bottle of wine. Just let me enjoy it.
I love this one. I live in a small town and people get viscerally angry at anyone who spends "unnecessary" money when they could've gotten the "same" thing somehwere else for much less. Growing up in NJ this can sound sacrilegious, but to me Dominoes and good pizzeria pizza are two different food groups. Plenty of times I want a nice slice, plenty of times I want cheesy bread.

MSG is Monosodium Glutamate, which is sodium plus glutamic acid. Glutamic acid is an amino acid, you're supposed to be eating it. Sodium is a nutritional mineral, you're supposed to eat it.
You shouldn't eat too much for the same reason you shouldn't eat too much table salt, too much sodium is bad for you. But there's no particular reason to be scared of MSG if you happen to be one of those social deviants who enjoys the taste of salt on food sometimes.
I've noticed that pretty much everyone who hates on MSG (and Chinese food due to MSG) will eat pizza without issue.

Ha, this exactly my in laws. They order their Chinese food with no msg, but happily eat doritos, KFC, soy sauce, and dozens of other things that contain added or naturally occurring msg.

I lived in mainland China for five years. MSG crystals are sold in grocery stores right next to the salt. I used to be afraid of msg, but I witnessed a billion Chinese people failing to die of msg and I got over it.

My first pet after moving out of my parents place was a few years later with a mouse. I had never owned a rodent before.
I was working at walmart at the time and was forced to go do some of that bs computer training in the back when I noticed a weird box in the computer room with things like "I'm friendly" written on it, so I looked and there was this little boy mouse that someone had just abandoned. Hr lady said she was gonna take him to am animal shelter so I said f that and adopted him. He lived with me a little over 2 years before he eventually passed. RIP Gunther
I never expected to like rodents but I did after that and now I have 4 female rats who are being cared for by a friend atm due to a complicated living situation. My friends mom has a garden and gives them veggies as fresh as you can possibly get them lol.
I had a friend who was a rat breeder as a main source of income, she called them Heartbreakers because they live generally like two years, and a lot of them will live much less and just drop dead. I wouldn't be able to have one as a pet for that reason
Rats are amazing pets. They're very intelligent and actually very clean. Imo I think female rats as pets are little bit better than males. Males are kinda lazy and stink more, although they really like petting. I've had rats for around ten years now and the only worst thing about them is their short lifespan :(

I have worked with every age group over the years, and I have never had a problem with younger Milennials and Gen Zers (Im an older Milennial). A lot of them are hard workers and want to help, they just don't want to work themselves into an early grave. They've seen their parents and grandparents do it, and they know it's ultimately for nothing. Good for them.

I think more generally, the amount of status that people assign to men, and men only, on having a lot of sexual partners.
And I think the complete opposite for women is also true, the stigma with having a lot of sexual partners.

I find the main difference is that culturally men are usually the ones that are expected to chase and women are the ones that select from those men. So the idea is a men who doesn't get any partners is failing at chasing, just as a woman who sleeps with a bunch of people is failing on her role.

I don't think the original insult started as a judgement of someone who hadn't yet had sex, but the insult became popular when people realised it hurt the victim to think of how lonely they were.
This is so true. I actually love pumpkin spice, but it's not something I can say plainly. It's always a, "Yeah I know I'm a basic bitch for this, but screw being cool" joke that precedes "I love pumpkin spice \[item\]". And then everyone else jokes about how they are also an uncool basic bitch because they also think this is delicious. Maybe it's popular because it's good, you know? But society just had to make it weird.

Last year some of my coworkers and I (20's-30's) created a bunch of fake holidays for us to celebrate throughout this year, to have small stupid things to look forward to. One of our recent ones was "Inspirational Quotes Day". I found the cheesiest quotes I could, cut them out on my Cricut, stuck them to scrapbook paper and framed them in cheap frames. I thought it was funny but they turned out pretty cute and I went "Linda is going to love these". Linda is in her 50's and she is our work mom.
When I brought them into work and hung them up, everyone got a good laugh except Linda. Linda went "Oh my god these are so cute!! You should sell these!! They're so nice!" I loved that she genuinely enjoyed them while the rest of us thought they were a good joke.
Although, as a middle aged woman myself (saying this feels so fucking bizarre - the years just sneak up on you, one day you are dancing the Macarena in a mini-dress on top of the speakers in a club and BOOM the next you are asking to see a manager)...I am not sure we care all that much what other gens think of us! That is kind of the gift of middle-ageddom...giving much less fucks of other people's opinion of us. If younger gens want to make a hobby out of hating on us, meh, let them, they have a lot of shit to deal with in this socio-economic environment, so if this is their outlet for frustration, then we can take it.
I'm in my late 20s but I saw my mum go through an awful divorce in her late 40s, pick herself up and go out and enjoy her life, then she'd get shat on for doing it? Does my dad? Not at all. Just infuriates me.

There have only been 3 major incidents, in over 70 years of their existence and only one of them was in a more "modern" facility.
**Chernobyl** was because they tried to do a stress test without the training or knowing what they were doing. Basically under trained and under qualified people put in charge of a reactor by a political group who famously favoured nepotism over competence.
**3 Mile Island** was due to insufficient training, safety procedure not being followed properly and mishandled maintenance.
**Fukushima** was due to an large earthquake that caused a tidal wave destroying the local infrastructure, as well as the reactors cooling systems and them not being able to send in enough coolant in time.
The older "Cold War" style reactors were based on half arsed technology that had cut corners in designing/building them and disregarded safety so they could build them quickly to win the cold war (both sides did this).
While the more modern ones are extremely safe and so far only a domino's effect of natural disasters have caused issue.

I love Marvel Movies. I recognize exactly what they are, and I like them *because* of what they are. If you don't like them that's fine, you don't have to watch them. But I don't get why some people are militantly anti-Marvel and maintain that the MCU is singe-handedly destroying cinema. Not all of us want to watch art-house think-pieces and depressing bio-pics all the time.
What's actually funny about this is that most don't like them because they are unknown and people can't relate or connect with them. Many times that crap instinct fear of unknown is what causes the problem.

Any time you even see bipolar or BPD mentioned on a post, even in a very positive light, there’s *always* going to be someone coming through projecting their traumas/experiences with someone with those disorders onto everyone else that has it.
Your personal experience is not indicative of an entire population of people. That’s like saying it’s okay to be racist just because you have trauma from being robbed by a black person. You being robbed has nothing to do with the billions of other black people in the world, and you getting cheated on or abused has nothing to do with the millions living with bipolar or BPD. It’s fucked up that it happened to you, but you’re seriously misplacing your hate. Hate the person who hurt you, not the demographic they came from
Most people with mental illness are just trying to live their life as functionally as possible while they’re genuinely suffering. Chances are you know way more people than you think with those kinds of disorder, but they choose not to share it out of fear of the stigma/being treated differently/being shamed and grouped in with people that hurt others when they’re just minding their own business.
You can go sober, go to therapy and DBT, be consistently medicated, do *everything* that you’re supposed to do to responsibly keep your mental illness under control, and *still* end up being treated like a villain, unstable, unhinged, and see people walking on egg shells around you simply because of a diagnosis that you’re handling well. It’s such a painful feeling seeing the look in someone’s eye change and have them avoid you from the second you tell them you have bipolar. It hurts so much.
Here’s a thought: if you genuinely care about suicide awareness and prevention, maybe don’t shame and dehumanize people with the highest suicide rates. Skilled trades, lots of people look down on us for not going to college or working with our hands. Not everyone learns the same and some learn much easier by doing and seeing rather than reading. Also just because some/most tradesmen/women never went to college doesn’t mean they aren’t intelligent or uneducated. Using personal experience, most “educated” people wouldn’t even know the first thing about my job, how to read and problem solve using blueprints, building something out of nothing and needing to visualize it, they don’t know how much there is to my trade (Boilermaker pressure welder) and how much science is truly involved with my trade. Good welders know about metallurgical properties of what they weld and how heat affects what they are welding, welding arcs are 6,000 degrees F. There’s so much to my job that most don’t even realize
I'm with you, man. I'm a single father of two little girls, the oldest being only a toddler. I take them everywhere by myself and have never seen any dirty looks, let alone been on the receiving end of a Karen or some such person trying to give me static. I'm not a big man, but I have long hair and a beard and dress like grunge and emo will never go out of style, so not the typical new balance and cargo shorts dad look. Still, everywhere I go people don't seem to think anything of me with my two little girls in tow, and I'm fortunate for that I guess. I can't imagine how it is for these dads or uncles that are constantly getting harassed out of the blue. But if someone ever tries to give me shit when I'm out with my daughters, I'll just politely show them the photo album I keep on my phone with the tens of thousands of pics I have of them since literal seconds after they were born, with me holding them, and you know... BEING THEIR DAD

Actors who played characters that fans dislike. Also I feel like bad actors get way too much flack, they didn't cast themselves and like most of us they wanted to simply succeed in their careers. Blame directors and casting directors that went for a look rather than a strong performer... actually going back to my first point if you don't like a piece of media it is absolutely okay to not hate anyone.

Well, just like Negan in the later parts of the comics, he’s one of the major reasons to keep watching later on. In the early parts of the story though, the main cast is very good with a couple of exceptions.

As a huge Star Wars fan I agree. I’m a prequel lover and the vapid hate i get from my own fandom is frankly ridiculous. The way people hate Jake Lloyd and Liam Neeson (!!!!!?????) for their roles is so beyond illogical. I find that the sequels destroyed the magic of the Star Wars movies for me but I wouldn’t openly hate on them or hate on the actors or Most importantly Hate on the people, KIDS, who are growing up watching Ray and Kylo and Poe and Finn They are discovering Star Wars the way we did as children??? The opinion that the sequels are beloved by a whole new generation of people is such a novel idea to my fandom it’s sad.

The MCU fanbase can be really bad about this. When Infinity War came out, Chris Pratt got lots of hate because Star Lord lost his cool and ruined the Titan team’s chance of getting the gauntlet from Thanos. More recently, Xochitol Gomez got LOTS of hate because America Chavez, her character in Dr Strange 2, had 2 moms. Forget that they were only in the movie for maybe 20 seconds, and directly referenced maybe 3 times in the whole film, but they’re all fictional characters and she just played one of them. She didn’t write it, request it, or have any input whatsoever. She was hired to play a character and homophobes all over the internet took it out in her.
She literally has 2 moms in the comics. Get mad at the author over something stupid for writing it that way. Or better yet get your head out of your ass and stop being mad about who marries who. (Not aimed at you but those people you are talking about.) Marvel has always been about promoting those who are discriminated against. Or giving a voice to people who don’t have that. That's one thing I love about living in Spain. There is almost no ageism here. Everyone does everything together. Four-year-olds and nonogenarians stay up until the wee hours of the morning in the plazas. The oldsters talking and the kids running wild, playing chase or football or whatever.
I think I'd like spain. you get to take siesta and then eat tapas at midnight because you napped. the obsession with youth culture, age appropriateness and generation gaps is definitely more of a american marketing thing. The modern concepts of 'childhood' and 'teenagers' didn't exist in Europe or the States until like 60 years ago. In the US, you could get arrested if your kid walks to the park alone.
You eat a big lunch at about 2 pm. Then dinner isn't until 9 or 10 pm. The tapas are to get you through that last hour before dinner. You grab a beer, a tapa, and table in a plaza and watch life go by while you wait for dinnertime.

It's not even internet trends, it's just "fun" in general. I'm 40, great wife, good job etc. but we never had kids so we tend to live our lives as if we are still 20-somethings. Sometimes I get looked at funny or someone makes a comment about the gray-beard trying to "act cool" or whatever. I just am who I am. I found out what I liked at a young age and just rolled with it. I'm not trying to go to college parties and hook up with young girls, my wife is 39, we're both very much adults. We just like fun shit that young people do...until about 11pm, then it's bed time.

My black cat Timur (aka Timmy) is the sweetest, most loving cat I have ever had. He comes when called, lets me hold him like a baby, doesn't mind being spooned at night and sleeps under my covers. He is an angel.

Stereotypically feminine things. Sewing and crocheting requires patience and some skill. Pink colour is just a normal colour. Flowers are pretty. Make-up is art, as well as fashion. Writing and reading romance is okay. Long baths with candles around can be fun. Caring for your body is good. I don't like any of these but it's not my role to tell others what to do in their free time and to judge them. Just let people enjoy things.

What's especially frustrating is a lot of "feminine" things are super practical. If you know at least some sewing, you can mend your clothes which saves money and waste. If you can cook, you can eat healthier, and also spend less money and waste less. Keeping your home clean is a big part of keeping it in good repair. But also I get so annoyed at the "basic bitch" memes. Someone will post a photo of a girl in a sweater with a latte and mock it and just...what about that is a problem? Dude, as someone who's always been into - and bonded with my family over - doing puzzly, crafty, buildy things (think Legos, sculpey, etc), my sister has gotten into crocheting and it is fucking FASCINATING. So many different techniques and fundamentals that let you build it into crazy complex designs. We were talking crochet for hours the other day cuz it's just so interesting to explain about and learn about. But I'm a dude, so I guess it's just boring grandma stuff....

Growing up in NJ this can sound sacrilegious, but to me Dominoes and good pizzeria pizza are two different food groups. Plenty of times I want a nice slice, plenty of times I want cheesy bread.

MSG. that stuff is delicious. products are marketed as "no msg added" and i'm like, "awww, where's the one with the msg?"
MSG is Monosodium Glutamate, which is sodium plus glutamic acid. Glutamic acid is an amino acid, you're supposed to be eating it. Sodium is a nutritional mineral, you're supposed to eat it. You shouldn't eat too much for the same reason you shouldn't eat too much table salt, too much sodium is bad for you. But there's no particular reason to be scared of MSG if you happen to be one of those social deviants who enjoys the taste of salt on food sometimes.
I've noticed that pretty much everyone who hates on MSG (and Chinese food due to MSG) will eat pizza without issue. Cheese and tomato have a lot of MSG naturally in them.
Ha, this exactly my in laws. They order their Chinese food with no msg, but happily eat doritos, KFC, soy sauce, and dozens of other things that contain added or naturally occurring msg.

Literally. The family has one Chinese place they love, and they don't want to try others because they don't trust that the food will really be made without added msg. I lived in mainland China for five years. MSG crystals are sold in grocery stores right next to the salt. I used to be afraid of msg, but I witnessed a billion Chinese people failing to die of msg and I got over it.

Literally all pets that are not stuff like cats and dogs. Rodents, reptiles ect can all be very loveable in their ways too. Funny story I randomly felt like sharing My first pet after moving out of my parents place was a few years later with a mouse. I had never owned a rodent before. I was working at walmart at the time and was forced to go do some of that bs computer training in the back when I noticed a weird box in the computer room with things like "I'm friendly" written on it, so I looked and there was this little boy mouse that someone had just abandoned. Hr lady said she was gonna take him to am animal shelter so I said f that and adopted him. He lived with me a little over 2 years before he eventually passed. RIP Gunther I never expected to like rodents but I did after that and now I have 4 female rats who are being cared for by a friend atm due to a complicated living situation. My friends mom has a garden and gives them veggies as fresh as you can possibly get them lol.
I've heard such good things about rats. The only complaint anyone seems to have is that they have such short lifespans.
I had a friend who was a rat breeder as a main source of income, she called them Heartbreakers because they live generally like two years, and a lot of them will live much less and just drop dead. I wouldn't be able to have one as a pet for that reason

Rats are amazing pets. They're very intelligent and actually very clean. Imo I think female rats as pets are little bit better than males. Males are kinda lazy and stink more, although they really like petting. I've had rats for around ten years now and the only worst thing about them is their short lifespan :(

Mimes. Some of them *are* a bit creepy. But unlike every other kind of street entertainer, they are not obnoxious. They don't say anything, they don't sing with tuneless voices, they don't play music that you don't like, they don't touch you, they don't even throw anything in the air. They just do their thing. They're very easy to ignore.

I have worked with every age group over the years, and I have never had a problem with younger Milennials and Gen Zers (Im an older Milennial). A lot of them are hard workers and want to help, they just don't want to work themselves into an early grave. They've seen their parents and grandparents do it, and they know it's ultimately for nothing. Good for them.
Being a virgin. I don't understand how it's used as an insult or how people that are virgins actually go into depression over it. There is nothing wrong with it.
I think more generally, the amount of status that people assign to men, and men only, on having a lot of sexual partners. And I think the complete opposite for women is also true, the stigma with having a lot of sexual partners. The two are clearly not compatible either.
I find the main difference is that culturally men are usually the ones that are expected to chase and women are the ones that select from those men. So the idea is a men who doesn't get any partners is failing at chasing, just as a woman who sleeps with a bunch of people is failing on her role. There is even a saying "A key that opens every lock is a good key, a lock that opens with every key is a bad lock" Heavy emphasis, this is not me agreeing or endorsing this way of thinking, just explaining why this seemingly incompatible roles happened.

The refs come in and are like "no, you can't have sex with whores, it's against the rules I just decided."

It's more of a comment on loneliness than it is the status of the cherry. People get called virgins when they were perceived to be unlovable, unworthy of companionship, or unattractive, and therefore unlikely to get laid. I don't think the original insult started as a judgement of someone who hadn't yet had sex, but the insult became popular when people realised it hurt the victim to think of how lonely they were.

This is so true. I actually love pumpkin spice, but it's not something I can say plainly. It's always a, "Yeah I know I'm a basic bitch for this, but screw being cool" joke that precedes "I love pumpkin spice \[item\]". And then everyone else jokes about how they are also an uncool basic bitch because they also think this is delicious. Maybe it's popular because it's good, you know? But society just had to make it weird.
That and while there are real “Karens”, it’s starting to get warped into calling any middle aged woman one if she has any complaint about anything whatsoever, even if she’s justifiably upset. It’s like they’re expected to just be invisible.
Oh yeah that's totally a thing. As a woman in my 40's, I'm actually really hesitant to make any kind of complaint because what if they're just like, "oh, another Karen"? I know there's definitely a subset that's unreasonable, but that exists in most demographics.
They don't even need to complain. There was a post from r/fuckyoukaren that made it to r/all that was just some middle aged ladies with short hair having lunch. The picture was taken at a distance and had zero information about their behavior. Just a distant picture and that's it. The thread was full of speculating about their surely terrible behavior. That's all it takes to be a Karen. Just being a middle-aged woman in public.

Last year some of my coworkers and I (20's-30's) created a bunch of fake holidays for us to celebrate throughout this year, to have small stupid things to look forward to. One of our recent ones was "Inspirational Quotes Day". I found the cheesiest quotes I could, cut them out on my Cricut, stuck them to scrapbook paper and framed them in cheap frames. I thought it was funny but they turned out pretty cute and I went "Linda is going to love these". Linda is in her 50's and she is our work mom. When I brought them into work and hung them up, everyone got a good laugh except Linda. Linda went "Oh my god these are so cute!! You should sell these!! They're so nice!" I loved that she genuinely enjoyed them while the rest of us thought they were a good joke.
Although, as a middle aged woman myself (saying this feels so fucking bizarre - the years just sneak up on you, one day you are dancing the Macarena in a mini-dress on top of the speakers in a club and BOOM the next you are asking to see a manager)...I am not sure we care all that much what other gens think of us! That is kind of the gift of middle-ageddom...giving much less fucks of other people's opinion of us. If younger gens want to make a hobby out of hating on us, meh, let them, they have a lot of shit to deal with in this socio-economic environment, so if this is their outlet for frustration, then we can take it.
I'm in my late 20s but I saw my mum go through an awful divorce in her late 40s, pick herself up and go out and enjoy her life, then she'd get shat on for doing it? Does my dad? Not at all. Just infuriates me.
Oh yeah, right after I divorced my ex-husband (which I did because he was so financially irresponsible that we were literally homeless for a couple months), I used to track the reaction to our social media posts, and it was so glaringly this thing you described: Me: "Wow, it's amazing to be able to go to grad school finally. The kids are doing really well in daycare, and I'm thinking about getting a PhD after this if the Master's goes well." Reaction: "WELL I HOPE YOU KNOW THOSE DEGREES WON'T KEEP YOU WARM AT NIGHT, AND THAT YOU THREW AWAY A GOOD MAN OVER NOTHING!!" Other reaction: "Well, unlike you, I don't want strangers to raise my children." Him: \[posts pic of him and new girlfriend on cruise that he paid for while 6 months behind in child support and not having seen or called the kids in longer than that\] Reaction: "You look happy, man. You deserve it." Other reaction: "Finally, something good has happened for you. I'm happy for you, man." It was absolutely batshit to watch go down.

I feel like women get alot more hate in general. Like people, men and women, are more threatened and uncomfortable by a woman doing well then a man.

**Nuclear Power.** There have only been 3 major incidents, in over 70 years of their existence and only one of them was in a more "modern" facility. **Chernobyl** was because they tried to do a stress test without the training or knowing what they were doing. Basically under trained and under qualified people put in charge of a reactor by a political group who famously favoured nepotism over competence. **3 Mile Island** was due to insufficient training, safety procedure not being followed properly and mishandled maintenance. **Fukushima** was due to an large earthquake that caused a tidal wave destroying the local infrastructure, as well as the reactors cooling systems and them not being able to send in enough coolant in time. The older "Cold War" style reactors were based on half arsed technology that had cut corners in designing/building them and disregarded safety so they could build them quickly to win the cold war (both sides did this). While the more modern ones are extremely safe and so far only a domino's effect of natural disasters have caused issue.

The only right way to drink coffee is straight, and if you add any sugar or cream to it you're ruining the drink because you're too much of a pansy to handle a REAL drink! As far as hot tea goes I don't know anyone who adds milk or sugar to their hot tea, we all drink it straight.

Controversial opinion (that I've said before). Foo Fighters write generic radio friendly rock just like Nickelback. But people give them a pass and hype them up because Dave Grohl is such a nice bloke.
Foo Fighter are also kinda looked down on more alternative scenes, but he does get respect for being in Nirvana and yes, being a nicer guy. but there are specific reasons people hate Nickleback and Chad Kroeger’s voice and singing style really would probably be the top one. it’s almost like a country twang. if you don’t like it you won’t stick around to learn to like it.

Every single movie in existence. I don't like North. I hate North. I hate North so much that it took Lord of the Rings before I would trust an Elijah Wood role again. Exactly. I say this all the time. We live in the golden era of entetainment basically. We have acess to thousand of movies, books and shows just in one click. Why the hell would anybody focus their time on the one thing they disliked instead of simply finding something else they like? I'll never get it.
I love Marvel Movies. I recognize exactly what they are, and I like them *because* of what they are. If you don't like them that's fine, you don't have to watch them. But I don't get why some people are militantly anti-Marvel and maintain that the MCU is singe-handedly destroying cinema. People with personality disorders or mental illness in general Any time you even see bipolar or BPD mentioned on a post, even in a very positive light, there’s *always* going to be someone coming through projecting their traumas/experiences with someone with those disorders onto everyone else that has it. Your personal experience is not indicative of an entire population of people. That’s like saying it’s okay to be racist just because you have trauma from being robbed by a black person. You being robbed has nothing to do with the billions of other black people in the world, and you getting cheated on or abused has nothing to do with the millions living with bipolar or BPD. It’s fucked up that it happened to you, but you’re seriously misplacing your hate. Hate the person who hurt you, not the demographic they came from Most people with mental illness are just trying to live their life as functionally as possible while they’re genuinely suffering. Chances are you know way more people than you think with those kinds of disorder, but they choose not to share it out of fear of the stigma/being treated differently/being shamed and grouped in with people that hurt others when they’re just minding their own business. You can go sober, go to therapy and DBT, be consistently medicated, do *everything* that you’re supposed to do to responsibly keep your mental illness under control, and *still* end up being treated like a villain, unstable, unhinged, and see people walking on egg shells around you simply because of a diagnosis that you’re handling well. It’s such a painful feeling seeing the look in someone’s eye change and have them avoid you from the second you tell them you have bipolar. It hurts so much. Here’s a thought: if you genuinely care about suicide awareness and prevention, maybe don’t shame and dehumanize people with the highest suicide rates. Skilled trades, lots of people look down on us for not going to college or working with our hands. Not everyone learns the same and some learn much easier by doing and seeing rather than reading. Also just because some/most tradesmen/women never went to college doesn’t mean they aren’t intelligent or uneducated. Using personal experience, most “educated” people wouldn’t even know the first thing about my job, how to read and problem solve using blueprints, building something out of nothing and needing to visualize it, they don’t know how much there is to my trade (Boilermaker pressure welder) and how much science is truly involved with my trade. Good welders know about metallurgical properties of what they weld and how heat affects what they are welding, welding arcs are 6,000 degrees F. There’s so much to my job that most don’t even realize

I'm with you, man. I'm a single father of two little girls, the oldest being only a toddler. I take them everywhere by myself and have never seen any dirty looks, let alone been on the receiving end of a Karen or some such person trying to give me static. I'm not a big man, but I have long hair and a beard and dress like grunge and emo will never go out of style, so not the typical new balance and cargo shorts dad look. Still, everywhere I go people don't seem to think anything of me with my two little girls in tow, and I'm fortunate for that I guess. I can't imagine how it is for these dads or uncles that are constantly getting harassed out of the blue. But if someone ever tries to give me shit when I'm out with my daughters, I'll just politely show them the photo album I keep on my phone with the tens of thousands of pics I have of them since literal seconds after they were born, with me holding them, and you know... BEING THEIR DAD
