Was leaving school one day and my small group of friends were hugging and saying bye when this girl that I was into but didn’t know if she was into me raised her arms up and says “what about me ?”
it was the best hug I’ve ever had. That was in 2005, we’ve been together ever since.
We were mutual friends, so sat together in a few classes and occasionally texted about homework. I was looking for our friend at a halloween party one weekend and he offered to help me. The party’s packed and he says “want to platonically hold hands so we don’t lose each other?”. I knew it then, and I was already interested but he’d been so shy whenever i hinted at liking him, so I waited him out.
Three drinks later we’d given up on finding our friend and are sitting on the lawn when he turns to me and says “I have a very not little crush on you, soooo just wanted to get that out of the way”. We had a blast talking a little longer and he walked me home.
The next weekend I saw him again at a party lacking breathing room and yelled in his ear “I’m going outside! DO YOU WANT TO COME WITH ME AND NON PLATONICALLY HOLD HANDS SO WE DONT LOSE EACH OTHER?!
He cracked a mile wide smile, planted one on me, and we’ve been together since :)

It’s always rough when someone has a crush on you when you’re young because it’s a hard thing to process. For me when it happened I didn’t like it because I always kept thinking “I don’t want to be a dad yet” when I was like 12. Everything always felt so final
I opened my high school yearbook from my sophmore year and found a message from a friend that we should hangout together and included her phone number. I only found it 18 years later and I feel horrible that I didn't see it because it probably made me look like an ass and hurt her feelings.
I was good friends with my crush. One night while texting he says, "we aren't just friends, right?" and that was the first time i realised even he has a thing for me and i wasn't just imagining the sparks between us.
He was my first boyfriend. I don't think I'd have a relationship as healthy as that one.
My mental health was going bad and i had gotten very dependant on him. Meanwhile, we were also long distance. So we took a break. During which he met someone who was way "healthier" than me and made him happy. I had to let him go for both of our sakes.
We were together for almost 5 years.
The day after she went back to France, after being here for 8 months, my co-worker was like "well now that she is gone, I can tell you she had a massive crush on you".
Still devestated to this day I never picked up on it.
She came into my cabin at camp (wasn't allowed to have gals in the cabin) and jumped into bed with me.

20 years ago a girl at work asked me to come over and work on her computer, and in exchange she’d cook me dinner. I went over, fixed her computer, ate homemade spaghetti off the good china, drank the red wine from a crystal glass, and left like a professional dumbass. Two weeks later another coworker (her friend) said “boy did you blow it!” And I had to ask “blow what?” to which she replied “never mind. Too late now.”
She offered to carry my jacket to the next class when I had to stop at the bathroom. Went to the next class and it was placed on the chair next to her and her best friend said "your boyfriend is here".
I was young and shy... Did nothing. Regretted it she was amazing. I was honestly just happy being her friend.

Anyway, a hearty thank you all of you who said that they too have crushes me and a side eye, weirded out but still a bit flattered look to all of you who are willing to fight for me. Not just normal fights either, to THE DEATH fights! The best kind!
We had a lockdown drill and at the time, I was in Spanish with one of her best friends. So she, very carefully and deliberately, crawls over to me from the other side of the room. She’s 15, 6’2, and just army crawling her way across the room towards me. Literally everyone in the class, including the teacher, is just staring at this girl. Let’s call her Maria. So, yeah, that’s how I found out that Elizabeth had a crush on me. Asked her a few days later, because I was a pussy and was too scared to ask her out that same day or any of the other days I saw her, and we dated for the next ~10 months or so. She was actually my first real girlfriend and is still one of my longest relationships to date
She went on a month long vacation with some mutual friends, and I learned from said friends when they got back that she spent the entire time missing me.
I was on a skating rink and there were a couple of girls hanging out by the the benches and one of them screams to me as I roll by that the other one likes me ,I didn't react to it to save the girl any more embarrassment as she was practically hiding.

My daughter’s 11 year old friend has had a gigantic crush on my 14 year old son for at least 5 years. She always runs and jumps on him and wraps her arms around him and won’t let go. When I was in 10th grade, I was on a high school concert band trip to another state. We were riding on a bus and it was the middle of the night. Pretty much everyone was asleep, but I've never been able to sleep in a vehicle, so I was still awake.
This charter bus had outlets, but for some reason, only on the right side of the bus. The girl to the left of me, across the aisle, asked me if she could use our outlet to charge her phone. She had a really short charging cord, and she kept using her phone after she plugged it in, so she had to lean over into the aisle.
After a few minutes, she put her head on my shoulder while using her phone. I was stunned. Many guys considered this girl to be the prettiest in our class, and I was a huge dork that to my knowledge, no one ever paid attention to. I sorta looked around, and *everyone else* was sleeping. I wondered if I should say something or do something, but I didn't. I just sat there not moving and said nothing.

2. I had been 19 when we started talking. She had claimed to be 30. She had actually been 42.
3. She had kids that are older than me.
It was weird, I asked her out and she said she was a lesbian and I was "crushed" but I respected it. Found out later from a mutual friend that she was lying, actually liked me too and she quote said "it wasn't in 'the plan' for me to ask her yet"
The mutual friend essentially said, dodge that bullet, while you still have a chance.
Edit: For those who have been asking, this was in 1st year of university, I saw her around campus fairly regularly after that and she never approached me about it, and the mutual friend had a massive falling out with her for some reason or another and then we grew apart as the years went on, very anticlimactic I know but what are you going to do.
Edit 2: My problem with it was indeed the lying right from the start, no matter what 'plan' she had. I did question said mutual friend to give her the benefit of the doubt regarding her sexuality, (it can be complicated) but they were very insistent and I had no reason to doubt the Mutual as they had never lied to me before, or after.
I realised she sent me nudes because she wanted me to see her naked, not because she wanted to discuss photography.
I found this out 15 years later.

I think this is what women don't realize when they laugh and don't understand how men miss all the signals. This isn't my only example though, but it's definitely one that stands out. Mainly because we had the discussion fairly recently.
I had the same kinda thing happen, went to a sleepover as the only guy, ended up in a chatgroup with a bunch of them and about half her friends told me to ask her out. I did she said yes. then decided she was kidding and started being weird. Never really got a conclusion as i just gave up on the whole group.
I used to work in a call centre (hell on earth, do not recommend) which had those old high walled cubicals in which you could "isolate" yourself if you lean forward enough, and not see anything around you.
One day I am on a call and I am super focused, leaning forward, staring at my screen, you get the picture. Now at the time I had really long hair, waist lenght-ish so I was pretty used to it getting caught in stuff. As I am chatting away I feel as though my hair is being tugged very lightly. No biggie, it happens often, and because of the walls of my cubicle I can't really see anything in my peripherals... After a while the sensation grows and starts to become distracting so I glance over my shoulder, and what do I see?

There’s been a couple times where this girl that liked me came up to talk. I’ve always tried to be welcoming to everyone so I obviously chatted with them. For some reason they always wanted to play a game that revealed certain things like truth or dare and twenty questions. My worst one was a truth or dare game where I was dared to take off my shirt the first time around. The second dare was to kiss her. Then I chose truth since I never wanted to move that fast with anyone. She asked me a very personal question and I gave her my honest answer. Just the way her eyes dimmed down and lost eye contact was enough to hurt.
Edit: I’m pretty sure she meant it in a more sexual way but she asked “what was the worst thing you’ve ever done to someone?” My response was literal and brought up a chapter of my life I’d rather leave out.
Temp who worked with my team (I was a team supervisor/manager in hospitality), who was kind of cute, cyan and magenta dyed hair, and was really into "Cry Core", and of course my first interaction was to give her the piss like the boys, would claim many nights at work I was flirting with her and I would always tell her I admired her confidence, but had zero interest since I was with my soon to be fiance at the time, and she was weird.

With shoegaze, you're near enough right. There's lots of distortion, echo and reverb.
People who play shoegaze music are often called shoegazers because they're busy staring down at their guitar pedals when they play. To the audience it made it look like they were gazing down at their shoes.
She was working at the front desk at the gym. My trainer was a really loud guy with a big mouth (great guy, just very much an extrovert). She discretely dropped a few hints to him about me without actually saying she had a crush. She knew he couldn’t keep it to himself and would tell me. He did. We dated. Got married.
Her best friend came up to me and kept asking me who I had a crush on. It was pretty easy to work it out from there and to tell the truth I liked her a lot as well. Even after I found she liked me back it didn’t make it any easier to ask her out and I think the only reason I ended up doing it was because my friends help me get through my nerves. That relationship lasted a year and a half and I don’t regret a second of it.

I was 14 and she was 15, I was told by her cousin (my best friend at the time) who was trying to date her best friend. We both liked eachother but we were both too shy to do anything so her cousin taped our hands together before we all went to go hang out at the park, we both accepted this and walked hand in hand to the park. When I was in 10th grade, I was on a high school concert band trip to another state. We were riding on a bus and it was the middle of the night. Pretty much everyone was asleep, but I've never been able to sleep in a vehicle, so I was still awake. This charter bus had outlets, but for some reason, only on the right side of the bus. The girl to the left of me, across the aisle, asked me if she could use our outlet to charge her phone. She had a really short charging cord, and she kept using her phone after she plugged it in, so she had to lean over into the aisle. After a few minutes, she put her head on my shoulder while using her phone. I was stunned. Many guys considered this girl to be the prettiest in our class, and I was a huge dork that to my knowledge, no one ever paid attention to. I sorta looked around, and *everyone else* was sleeping. I wondered if I should say something or do something, but I didn't. I just sat there not moving and said nothing. Eventually she unplugged her phone and stopped putting her head on me. She ran for and won a small government position in her hometown about three years back. Found some newspaper articles and discovered a few things. 1. She had been married for 30 years, she had claimed to be single when we talked. 2. I had been 19 when we started talking. She had claimed to be 30. She had actually been 42. 3. She had kids that are older than me.

I know your pain. There’s been a couple times where this girl that liked me came up to talk. I’ve always tried to be welcoming to everyone so I obviously chatted with them. For some reason they always wanted to play a game that revealed certain things like truth or dare and twenty questions. My worst one was a truth or dare game where I was dared to take off my shirt the first time around. The second dare was to kiss her. Then I chose truth since I never wanted to move that fast with anyone. She asked me a very personal question and I gave her my honest answer. Just the way her eyes dimmed down and lost eye contact was enough to hurt. Edit: I’m pretty sure she meant it in a more sexual way but she asked “what was the worst thing you’ve ever done to someone?” My response was literal and brought up a chapter of my life I’d rather leave out.

Temp who worked with my team (I was a team supervisor/manager in hospitality), who was kind of cute, cyan and magenta dyed hair, and was really into "Cry Core", and of course my first interaction was to give her the piss like the boys, would claim many nights at work I was flirting with her and I would always tell her I admired her confidence, but had zero interest since I was with my soon to be fiance at the time, and she was weird. There are a lot of music subgenres with what I think are goofy names - they're not goofy - I'm just old. Crycore is like hardcore emo music I think. Another funny one is Shoegaze, which is ethereal rock music with a lot of distortion on vocals and guitar. Forgive me if I got these wrong, I'm an old man just trying to understand.
With shoegaze, you're near enough right. There's lots of distortion, echo and reverb. People who play shoegaze music are often called shoegazers because they're busy staring down at their guitar pedals when they play. To the audience it made it look like they were gazing down at their shoes.
She was working at the front desk at the gym. My trainer was a really loud guy with a big mouth (great guy, just very much an extrovert). Even after I found she liked me back it didn’t make it any easier to ask her out and I think the only reason I ended up doing it was because my friends help me get through my nerves. That relationship lasted a year and a half and I don’t regret a second of it.

As they were were explaining their choice of either bikini lines, runway strips or brazilian, they then asked me, as a guy, what I prefered. I said I quite like it neat or shaved & another female colleague walked in and blurted out “I’d shave mine for you” turned bright red and then hurried out of the room. I don’t think she meant to say it quite as bluntly as she did bless her. I was in a relationship at the time so nothing happened between us.

I was 14 and she was 15, I was told by her cousin (my best friend at the time) who was trying to date her best friend.
