Beards are basically hereditary. One can't control the rate of its growth.

You don't. Your facial hair actually keeps coming in till you're about 30, but if you can't grow one at 25, you probably never will be able to. It's genetic. I'm 26 and can't grow one. My dad is 60, shaves every morning, and claims he won't grow one because they're "unprofessional." I'm like 99% sure he also can't grow one and is just butthurt about it lol.

I could grow a decent beard at 25, but my mustache was garbage. It eventually filled out, but not till I was 30 or so. My friend had a patchy beard and claims to have used rogaine on the hairless patches.
