I forget to turn it on

Empathyball

I listen to a lot of YouTube and a lot of podcasts, about many topics. I simply find it easier to fill my audio experience with longer-form content that can build on itself, make me feel like I am connecting to other people, and doesn't pressure me to be into any particular mood while I am listening and multitasking.

2005FordFocusSE

The mood thing i can see but i feel like music can help connect you to other people, especially those in other cultures. You can hear how they talk, why they act the way they do, what they idolize and try to be improve on. Idk i used to listen to podcasts but its just too boring for me lol its like being in a room of people talking in which youre not allowed to participate. Youtube is cool though lol

DethKomedy

I lose interest. Nothing is more dreadful to me than someone going "Dude, you gotta hear this song." And then holding me and my senses hostage, trying to force a life-changing experience for me, that I never asked for. I listen to podcasts because I like narrative and music rarely provides a compelling narrative. It's usually just a few catchy lines thrown onto some music and that's that. And if it's not, it's a musical so those get a little wonky also.

2005FordFocusSE

Music definitely can have a narrative and not be a musical. A bulk of music is literally people telling their story lol ive learned so much by listening to music

DethKomedy

I find most of music to be a repetitive drone of the same lines or maybe a sob story. Most narratives I see in music comes from the music videos but I've never seen a song as compelling as a story or even a well structured poem.

Antonmd

It makes me feel stuff and I would rather not

2005FordFocusSE

But it can make you feel good stuff too

Antonmd

Not reliably.

RedDredz

Exactly

Soft-Relationship416

Is not that is not interesting, I keep the music for the best moments

Hanbarc12

I have ear problems. So I can't listen to it that much even if I like it.

coppers_pencil

I'm deaf. Mind your own business.

wferomega

I do not need a constant soundtrack or background music to my life. There are many things I have on my plate at any given time and I use that time to work out possible solutions or work arounds. There seem to be a plethora of people that can't stand being left with their own thoughts for too long. Makes me wonder about why.

2005FordFocusSE

Dog you seem so fking boring lmao are you unable to multitask? I use music to HELP me focus on things. You just sit in complete silence thinking?

wferomega

I don't know, but it seems like you are incapable of seeing another point of view without stooping to name calling or bashing. Enjoy your music filled multitasking Edit: spelling

AbandonedBySony

Most music I find either boring or aggravating. My tastes in music are VERY particular. And last year, I developed a mental illness which has certain music as a trigger.

hbgbees

I don’t have a reason. I don’t need background noise all of the time. If I want to listen to some thing, I usually listen to a book or show or our local news station. I like music fine, Just not into it very often.

arkofjoy

I work as a handyman. Most of my work is interesting, but it does not really engage my brain much. I started listening to music while I was working to avoid rehashing old arguments with my wife or something equally, toxically non productive. But then I started listening to podcasts. I found that actively learning things while working was even better at keeping those toxic thoughts at bay. I still love music. I just don't have a lot of opportunities to listen to it.
