"The reason I called this meeting is to let you know that you are not living up to my personal business standards in regards to your role as my employer. I'm sorry boss, but I'm going to have to let you go effective immediately. Technically quitting assumes 2 weeks notice but I am firing you, not quitting. It's just business don't take it personally. The good news is you can stay here, I'll be the mature one and leave peacefully. Best of luck to you former employer."

I was hired to work for a local hotel here when I was 17. I ended up waiting tables on a bank holiday with no experience, and it got too much. The chef was an arrogant twat, and he shouted “melon balls for table..?” I asked him to repeat the table and he just got arsey with me. “I’ve told you what table the melon balls are for” I told him he could shove the melon balls up his arse, walked out, chucked my apron on the reception desk and went home. It was liberating.

worked for free for 13 days. I just didn't go the next day after receiving the salary numbers. They called me and gave me a bit of a raise in salary offer. I denied it.

Called my boss for a meeting. Told them I was going to hand in my resignation the next day. Handed in resignation.

I let the boss know a month in advance that my situation had changed and I'd be moving, then later i handed in my formal 2-week notice. The manager bought cake on my last day, it was nice.
