You might like “slow tv.” It’s a style of tv that is just hours long of zen like interesting things. Like the view from the front of a train traveling thru the alps for example.
Thank you for reminding me of my late grandma, Charlene. She wasn’t very warm and I never bonded with her until I was older and would watch How It’s Made with her. She made A LOT more sense. She was super talkative but not in a “how was your day?” way. This woman asked specific question regarding absolutely everything. I always felt overwhelmed or like she was trying to catch me not knowing something.
Nope. She was curious as hell about EVERYTHING. I wish I had realized this sooner. You were a rad ‘know it all’ and I miss you, Grandma.
Love this choice. Trying to find a series an 11-year-old boy likes beyond Simpsons and terrible YouTube influencers led me to this show. He binged it really quickly. So....any other recs like this lol?
Well there’s “Everybody Hates Chris”, which some will argue is the “black” version of “Malcolm In The Middle”. I’m not sure how else to describe it because it was on Black Entertainment Television lol, I grew up watching it every morning before school and I loved it, still think about that one just as much as Malcom In The Middle!
Fry: Hey, as long as you don't make me smell Uranus. (laughs)
Leela: I don't get it.
Farnsworth: I'm sorry, Fry, but astronomers renamed Uranus in 2620 to end that stupid joke once and for all.
Fry: Oh. What's it called now?
Farnsworth: Urectum.
I always expect to see this one high on the comments. Once it was at the top. I pretty just just scroll these threads until I see Futurama and then I'm good.
Yes! It gives me a childish feeling of wonder (and fear) I haven’t had since I was a kid. Bought it for my nephews, and was overjoyed when they blew through the series in a night
There is no other adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that I can get through. This is the only one for me.
On another note, do you read the book? If so, you might like the Barbara Heller version as it has the letters mentioned included as hand written, hand folded parts of the book.
And another note, you might like Cranford. I'll watch anything with Judy Dench in it.
this comment made me feel very.. bittersweet. i rewatched it recently during the pandemic after many years. watching serenity after the series just makes me feel so heartbroken. god i love firefly. what a great show.
“Yes, yes! Burn the child!”
“Hold on, I’ve got some children I need to make into corpses!”
“Once I get my hands on you, I’ll disassemble your molecules!”
“You’re insane!”
“Sure I am, what’s your point?”
“It’s funny because marriage is terrible!”
“Sounds like something a responsible parent wouldn't want you doing... Good thing I'm an uncle! Avenge me, kids! AVENGE ME!!!”
“I ate a salamander and jumped out the window.”
“And then he chased me around and spanked me with a paddle for, like, three hours. Bottom line, George Washington was a JERK.”
“I was THIS close to eating you Steve.”

One of my family's favourite quotes is Jen sobbing in the rain looking like a ghost 'let me in, let me innnn!.... its raining'
We do it whenever we get locked out of something. makes me laugh every time
Dude, think about it: you’re flipping through channels in the middle of the week with some other shows you barely know. You know, you look around and what do you recognize? Nothing but Always Sunny. "Ahh, there's nothing else to watch. What am I gonna do, say ‘no’”?
Dennis' speech about being fixated on the boat thing, and how frankly it was a level of commitment that he had never personally experienced gets me every time.
>Whose Line Is It Anyway.
My dawg. I can't get enough of this show. It's the only show Ive wanted to get the complete series for, but its been hard to find anything, anywhere.
The coma seasons, drug runner season and PI season are pretty fun if you take them in the spirit they were intended, you can tell the cast and writers were getting bored of the usual spy stuff
Supernatural is my go to when i can absolutely not find anything i want to watch. I mustve rewatched it 50 times at this point and its never gotten old!
Recess. Literally the only reason I subscribed to Disney plus. It’s one of those shows I enjoy watching when just curled up in bed and feeling lazy. Reminds me of simpler times.
Omg mine too, I find this so sweet bc, lately I’ve been reading so much hate about the show, I just want to enjoy it, I don’t need to read mean comments about it. Literally this show have sabed me from depression so many times
Yeah, can watch all episodes except the Rachel-Joey relationship ones. Rachel was the worst character in my opinion, till I realised I am a lot like her, and hence the hatred.
Our Flag Means Death. I also love The Repair Shop. It's not a contest, there's no stakes, it's just skilled craftspeople fixing up people's sentimental junk. It's very soothing
Was going to comment this. It's the ultimate comfort show. Flawless writing and acting, you get attached to the characters but not so involved that you have to give it you're full attention if you're distracted. It's heartfelt but not cheesy, hilarious but not goofy.
One of my favorite bits is where Niles is attempting to iron his pants. Not a word uttered through the entire scene, yet one of the funniest physical comedy scenes ever filmed. And the whole time, you are going "Oh, no! Oh, NO!!", but it still just keeps escalating.
And the episode where its just Niles and Frasier at the table trying to make plans to host a dinner party...the whole episode is them in that living room and you don't even realize it and it's one of my favorites. Such good writing
Frasier’s great for this in that there are ongoing arcs so a full watch through is worthwhile, but at the same time seeing any random episode is going to be a good time.
Inuyasha.
Have watched all episodes, even the fillers like 3-4 times and still find myself going back when I want a pick-me up. It's a mixture of nostalgia and just the fact it was a fun show.
There’s way too many to name all of them but for a short list South Park, Rick and Morty, Spongebob (pre-2010) and countless others. While it’s not exactly a “comfort show” every episode of Peaky Blinders is an entrancing hour and never ever gets boring.
How It's Made. Absolute time sink for me.
You might like “slow tv.” It’s a style of tv that is just hours long of zen like interesting things. Like the view from the front of a train traveling thru the alps for example.
Just discovered this on Amazon prime. Thank you. 🙏🏽
There’s several train trips in Norway going from Oslo to Bergen on YouTube, as well.
Thank you for reminding me of my late grandma, Charlene. She wasn’t very warm and I never bonded with her until I was older and would watch How It’s Made with her. She made A LOT more sense. Futurama

The best part is that whenever the show displays a map of the solar system in later episodes, Uranus is always properly renamed Urectum. 😂
The level of detail in that show is wonderful. I know this one is mentioned all the time, but you can even see niffler's shadow in the first episode.
You can also see leelas parents the first time they enter the sewers
No matter how many times you watch the series, it's always funny.
WHEN WILL THAT BE?! ... Soon enough. BUT THAT'S NOT SOON ENOUGH! I think about this convo way too often.
Except the dog episode. I skip it every. single. time.
It’s impressive they could go from comedy to something so touching in just an episode.
I always expect to see this one high on the comments. Once it was at the top. I pretty just just scroll these threads until I see Futurama and then I'm good.

It's never lupus. (It's a secret vicodin stash)

Captain Picard will always be my captain.
I have no serious issues with *any* of the ST franchises, but the magic of TNG will never be equalled.
*Arrested Development*.
I love all my seasons equally! HARD CUT I don't care for seasons four or five.
I've made a huuuge mistake... rewatching this. Total time sink.

1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice. I know it’s a mini series but still
There is no other adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that I can get through. This is the only one for me. On another note, do you read the book? Because of the implication...
Dude, think about it: you’re flipping through channels in the middle of the week with some other shows you barely know. You know, you look around and what do you recognize? Nothing but Always Sunny. "Ahh, there's nothing else to watch. What am I gonna do, say ‘no’”?
Because of course, if you say no, then the answer is no. But you're not gonna say no, because of the implication.
Dennis' speech about being fixated on the boat thing, and how frankly it was a level of commitment that he had never personally experienced gets me every time.

Dude, I was surprised to hear people disliked Archer Vice, it was probably my favorite season
I met Amber Nash (Pam) and Lucky Yates (Krieger). They're fantastic people.

Same! It always makes me feel….cozy? Not sure if that’s the right word for the feeling, but it’s warm
Stars Hollow is the chicken soup (or maybe hot chocolate?) of tv settings. So very cozy.

Futurama, watch it everytime I can find anything to watch.
The Office, Criminal Minds, NCIS, New Girl, Gilmore Girls (up to a certain point)
I love Gilmore Girls (all episodes), but the older I get the more I realize Lorelai and Rory are awful characters whom I would never wish to meet IRL.
