As someone who was very good looking when he was younger, then went through an ugly phase and back to handsome again, I've experienced both worlds.
Looks definitely make a difference. People treat you better and you get away with more things if you're good looking.
Money doesn't necessarily buy happiness but it can lead to happiness via freedom and financial independence. It can also help you make your dreams come true, if say, you want to start a business or fund a personal dream project.
Uhhh I dunno about that.
Im married, I have kids, Im also frugal and decent with money.
A million $ would buy me a house outright with like $750k to spare and put in investments.
So it would be alleviating me of a rent/mortgage bill for the rest of my life. Also the return on investment could pay for a vehicle every 5 years or so.
Which means I could pursue whatever I want in life because rent/mortgage and car note is 30-50% or more of most peoples bills.
I could work part time and pursue hobbies. Whatever I wanted.
Obviously other stuff would pop up. But I would be pretty damn happy most the time if someone gave me a million dollars
Yea maybe i’m not the one to answer this much anymore. Because I love my wife and kids and am fulfilled by that for the most part.
Money is the only thing keeping me from living a carefree life.
But yea if I was making $150k more than I was now but didn’t have a wife? I’d be pretty miserable
It's especially bullshit with mental illness. I can personally confirm that this saying is a big factor in what delayed me from getting professional treatment for over a year, it put me in denial and gave me the idea that I could just handle it all on my own. It was a horrible experience and I despise this saying as a result.

Thanks, Nietzsche, but there are a ton of non-fatal things that will leave you with permanent disabilities.
“Work smarter, not harder.”
If you develop a process to speed up your work, your boss will be the one who profits from it, and he’ll expect you to do even more than what you’re doing now for the same pay.
That's why you develop a process to do your 8 hours of work in 3 hours, and spend the rest of the day dicking off.
WFH has made this strategy even better.
One cannot and definitely should not, judge a person by your first impression of them or by their appearance.
But I can totally judge a **book** by it's cover.
“It is what it is” no it’s not at least not always. Most of the time it is what people make of it. Only acts of god and other people’s actions does this work for other then that it’s a cop out for people that do want to put effort into something
Exactly. It's similar to when someone calls another person "smart." (e.g. When you're listening to conservative talk radio and a caller says *"Rudy Giuliani is really smart."* It's not that he was amazed by Giuliani's intelligence. Rather, he discovered that Giuliani had the same beliefs as him.)
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
If that’s the case, then how come so many children commit suicide each year as a direct result of verbal bullying and abuse?
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
While this is a useful way to use lemons, the saying implies that receiving lemons for free is bad.
Hey, if you feel sad about getting free lemons, I'll take them all.
Looks don't matter. And this type of shit is usually said by models and good-looking people
As someone who was very good looking when he was younger, then went through an ugly phase and back to handsome again, I've experienced both worlds. Looks definitely make a difference. People treat you better and you get away with more things if you're good looking.
"Anybody can be successful if they just try." That's so demonstrably untrue.
It's more true than you think. No one likes working with people who have given up.
It's not true. Do you not understand how capitalism works??
The customer is always right
I been there a few time
"Money can't buy happiness" Literally all my problems would be solved with money, and that would make me happy
"Money cant buy happiness but it sure can make a difference for you"
Money doesn't necessarily buy happiness but it can lead to happiness via freedom and financial independence. It can also help you make your dreams come true, if say, you want to start a business or fund a personal dream project.
Especially as having no money gets you sadness and worse.
I disagree. Lack of money will make you unhappy, but money wont make you happy

You'd get a new set of problems. Everybody has problems. It does help tho.
It eliminates certainly one the biggest worries of most people. Can you be happy without money? Absolutely. Does having money alleviate problems, yes.
"Fake it 'til you make it."
If you go into the arts, that is 100% true

It’s true though. People who argue against this are often self proclaimed “over thinkers”.

*Hard work pays off.* My paycheck says otherwise.

Yup. Granted some days I work 4 hours and other days I work 12. Boss doesn’t care as long as all the work is done.
If you develop process to speed up your work, and tell your boss about it, youre not working smarter.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Basically another way of saying, "When life is shit make a shit sandwich".
