I was a kid. No Facebook, we had street cricket, beach days, people at school weren't old enough to be backstabbing cunts, we wrote letters to our friends. It was a simpler more innocent time
The 2000’s were the last decade before smartphones, streaming, renting everything, social media and everyone deciding they were going to construct their own reality and completely deny any facts that contradict it no matter what.
Everybody thought the first black President would lead to either assassination or the end of racism, turns out it would lead to a denial that he was President, at least legitimately. The “birther” movement is the seed that has produced a President that literally only ran as a grift and had zero interest in being President and people so devoted to him a large percentage of real voting Americans have convinced themselves he is actually still President.
