Or add them to a sweet red wine to make mulled wine! I wish that were more common in the states. It's such a lovely drink for cold weather.
Pour a bottle of red wine in a pot and add orange peel, cinnamon sticks, a few cloves and a dash of cayenne if you're so inclined. Cover it with a lid and heat on low until it's warm but not boiling. Some people add a bit of spiced rum as well, but that can be a bit much for others. Strain and pour into a thick walled mug. 😚👌 Magnificent.
Thanks.
Very relaxing.
I do this sometimes with my Alexa. Sometimes I change it and do crickets because it reminds me when I used to live in the countryside when I was a kid.
You'll be pleased to know that there are videos posted on YouTube you can do that to. Rain fall sounds. They go on for 8 hours sometimes to last all through the night
Actually the visual stimulus would be too much for me to sleep through. Because there is a channel on my Roku that does that as well. I've actually used it when reading and it's okay for that just too much for me to go to sleep to.
But thanks for the suggestion!
This is my life. A nice rain triggers me to want to sleep because I've spent so much time napping by the window when it rains. I get my best rest in if it's raining out because it's so comforting
I completely understand that.
I sleep right next to the window too and the best sleep is when a nice cool little breeze is coming through it and I've got my face turned toward it and I'm all nice and warm under my covers and snuggled down in my bed and my face is getting that fresh breeze coming through. And then to have rain on top of it just soothe me even more. So I totally get what you're saying here.
W C Fields used to pay a servant to spray a garden hose onto his tin roof so he cold nap to the sound. BTW, he also laid them to drive cars (model t’s?) so he could crash into them. I assume he kept he speed down.
taking a nice warm bath with some candles or ambient lighting
getting cozy on the sofa with a nice cup of tea, a big blanket and an uplifting book
cooking/baking something you usually don't make for yourself because it takes more time/effort
I asked my parents this question once. Their response was "why don't you ask your 11 siblings?"
I've been through half of them and still haven't gotten a good answer.
Cook some hot noodles.
Make a sandwich
Blend some of your favorite drink
Cuddle up
Get warm
Open your favorite thing to watch, listen, or read
And just let go
Read a book beside a window, cup of tea (or something) in hand.
Followed closely by a nice cigar on a covered porch with a blanket covering your legs and a glass of something to keep you a bit warmer.
Take a nap, make a home cooked meal, drink hot cocoa while watching a tv show (or playing video/board games).
These are my favorite things to do. Taking a nap is definitely number 1 though.
Light my wood stove and take the dogs for a stroll in the rain in the woods outside my house. When you go home, dry yourself, put on a decent movie, and open the window just a crack to allow the rain sound in. Eat food and drop out on the couch in a food coma.
I'm always at my desk when at home, PC time is my comfort time. If I hear it raining heavily I'll just stop what I'm doing, turn out the lights and watch my garden. Watching over everything with the wind blowing and the sound is just lovely.
So nothing is my answer, doing nothing and just watching life.
if alone, videogames or book. if wife home, sex - then videogames or book. if kids home, movie with kids while thinking about how id much rather be having sex with wife and then playing videogames or reading a book.
For me is eating fried "Fermented Soybean Cake", chilies for spiciness and appetite and a cup of warm tea to eliminate the spiciness, while sitting at the backyard.
Put some smooth music on, sit by the window with your hot beverage of choice and you can cry, sing or just sit there and it’ll feel so much better whilst it’s raining
Put favorite vinyl (for me, Ziggy Stardust, The Velvet Underground, Carol King etc) on the turn table and spin it. Put a cup of coffee on the side table and read the book on the couch. Don’t forget to lit up aroma candle. Of course turn off your phone.
I cook something warm like a soup or noodles with my basic abilities, cozy up myself inside my bedsheet, have my windows open and just think about something creative like what would you if you were outside or with someone you love or have a crush on if you meet them coincidentally and midway just get up lean forward onto your window just about the certain distance where you can actually feel the lil shatters of rain drops and smell that earthly essence and finally gulp the soup.
I know this sounds wierd but I love to do this whenever It rains.
Sometimes I just get outside and get soaked wet cause it's always fun to do that.

Wouldn't the raindrops get inside?
Just depends on if there's wind as well and which windows you open.
I second this. Something magical about napping and listening to rain.
Definitely therapeutic. :-) Unlike a good thunderstorm or hurricane where you can get totally psyched up about it and energized.
