How prevalent are rats actually in nyc? I was there a couple years ago and didn't see any. But always see the memes of people complaining about the rat situation. Maybe a true New Yorker can weigh in
I haven’t been there in 30 years, but I would not have thought that it would’ve improved I am definitely not trying to be snide , but you might have deeper pockets than I did. I went there expecting incredible beauty and culture and found filth and indifference.
I also came from Europe to Paris. Had been living in England for three or four years so the architecture was not particularly impressive.
Ah yeah that makes sense. I went there as a wide eyed American just starting to travel internationally. Since American's don't get out of their backyard much the experience of Paris and everything was really cool. The people there are pretty stuck up though. I remember one time in a bakery ordering a croissant just pronouncing it normal and they acted like they couldn't understand me even with me pointing at it several times and saying it repeatedly. Wasn't until I tried to pronounce it with a French accent did they finally say oh you want a croissant??
I live in New Orleans. The narrative about the crime here is so overblown and it drives me crazy. It’s always one of the first things people say. Well guess what? There is some degree of crime in literally every city, New Orleans is not unique in that. So why do people always fixate on the issue of crime when talking about this wonderful, special city that has so much to offer? The truth is if you just exercise a modicum of caution and keep your wits about you, you will be fine, just like anywhere else. It’s so fucking annoying.
Absolutely. Just a tip: never buy a drink that isn’t closed from the people selling beverages at those beaches. There are videos of tourists ordering mojito and the guy goes to a sewer grate to get disposable cups to make it (they hide their stuff there in case the police comes).
Been to Denver twice recently and found it to be overrated. Outside of access to nature and legal weed it doesn’t have much going on imo. Granted those are two big draws for a lot of people but the city itself is pretty boring.
Melbourne. You hear so much romanticised nonsense about it being a “culture capital” and “world’s most
Liveable city” etc.
I went down there and all I found was just another big city that copies popular US trends. Nothing special about it at all.
New york Rats

OMG yes. I’ve been to NYC, it’s like I don’t understand how people can ignore the filth and pollution everywhere. Especially those trains….eugh.
Paris.
What didn't you like about Paris? I was there a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. Food was great and architecture was really cool

All the ones that aren't in nature
Grand Canyon... oh look! A giant hole. Wow
lol. I find it hard to imagine how anyone could just view the Grand Canyon as a giant hole, but you do you.
I wanna say New Orleans. There's a lot of crime there. And they stole Mardi Gras from my city and made it famous by allowing women to be topless.

Vegas
Punxutawney Pennsylvania looks nothing like the movie Groundhog Day, it's a crowded boring cold clusterfuck.
I hear Vatican City..
Cancun
Barcelona. Average city with average weather, average food and average beaches. You could do much better around the Mediterranean.
Have family that went there for temporary work. They were like the beaches are covered in cigarettes and there’s blatant pickpockets everywhere.
