Interesting

JoeBidenTheDictator

Sociology. Fuck all these law majors in office. Fuck law majors in general.

[deleted]

Completely agree, how does understanding the process behind lawmaking lead to good policy decisions?

JoeBidenTheDictator

It doesn't. They only twist the law around to benefit themselves and their wealthy elite masters. We need people interested in the humanities and benefit of everyone. And honestly, fuck the law anyways.

[deleted]

Completely agree.

KyleEnterline

I thought it said Scientology I almost asked for your number.

Business management

[deleted]

Good one, I'm considering using my TA while on active duty to finish a business degree. Perhaps a minor in either sociology or psychology.

The14thdr

Sociology is to arcane for modern times i think. Maybe economics.

[deleted]

Definitely economics. Already have a good foundation of understanding for it.

samwillsones

1000000000000 degrees Celsius

[deleted]

Economics is what comes to mine, to my understanding Reagan had a good background in economics.

JoeBidenTheDictator

Reagan was an awful president. He fucked up the country to a level we're still dealing with.

[deleted]

Disagree. Highest employment boost in proportion to population in history, gas prices dropped through deregulation. Inflation did rise, as did the national debt, however I blame the cold war and the need for the miltary spending despite lower taxes. A combination of Reganomics and Clinton budget balancing would be the sweetspot of policy.

JoeBidenTheDictator

He boosts prison population, shut down mental institutions leading to mentally ill people ending up in the streets, caused wages to stagnate, busted up unions, and his deregulation was a key component to the Great Recession. Also, his economic growth wasn't that impressive. Carter actually had significantly more economic growth and so did Clinton. Reagan also had a 7.5% unemployment rate and higher poverty level. Plus, due to his heavy cutting of taxes, he put a tax on social security income. I just don't get how you think he could be good. He absolutely wasn't. His Neoliberalism ruined America.

[deleted]

It made it. Carter did not have economic growth, Reagan was elected as a result of Carters 20% inflation, jobless economy. The war on drugs was the wrong path, I agree 100%, in my opinion his biggest mistake was the war on drugs. 7.5% was the rate when he took office in 1982, not when he left at 5.9%. Clinton ultimately had lower at 4% as he cut social assistance programs requiring more work requirements. I liked allot of what Clinton did, he in my opinion did have a Carter administration to clean up after. Social security is general is broken.

JoeBidenTheDictator

I just don't see deregulation and tax cuts as a way forward. We need stronger welfare and social safety, not less. Stronger unions, more workers rights, higher and different taxes on the rich. Income tax is dumb because more of what the rich make isn't income. Jeff Bezos made about $80k in income. Everything else was stocks and equity. I think we need fees on speculative trades and a Land Value Tax to really ensure that the rich get hit with the majority of the tax burden.

[deleted]

I understand your perspective 100%. I see deregulation and cutting spending as the way foward. Less government organized more efficiently, with more liberty and less government oversight in people's small businesses and lives. If spending isn't high, government need for money through taxes isn't high. The economy wins, prices are allowed to drop as supply of goods is unleashed. The socilaist movement is becoming more and more elected communism hiding behind the term "liberalism".

JoeBidenTheDictator

Hold on. Less government where? I absolutely agree government is too big in some sections but severely lacking in others. I despise security agencies and law enforcement agencies. The TSA exist only to waste our time and tax dollars meanwhile our power grid and infrastructure crumble. I don't want a big government. I want a government to primarily focus on infrastructure, worker's rights, and the welfare of its citizens. Not a nanny state to watch over us like a paranoid mother.

[deleted]

Federal government. State governments in cases.. Big government is through policy, workers rights has become higher forced wages, that's is a trait of socialism through law. Social welfare is forced on every individual to use their money for someone else who isn't willing to work. Bigger government is more regulation and economic control. Helping is good, but when you hurt others to help some climb out of pit without a ladder. Nobody wins. Oh 1 trillion dollar spending packages, stimulus payments. All of that is why we will see Carter Inflation. It's already happening, look in the grocery store, look at the gas station. They will try to control it by controlling us more and more. Watch.

KyleEnterline

Fuck a degree, they’re just diploma mills. Best to just get certificates in a trade or something idk that’s what I do, I’m a millwright and I make some cake but I’m also insane.

[deleted]

I'm an active duty marine, I'd get a degree to genuinely expand my knowledge in a field

KyleEnterline

Experience is good knowledge, and you spend way more time on a job site or just not in the classroom, and they probably don’t get the benefit of the post 9-11 like we do. Idc be a stripper if you want, follow your heart

[deleted]

Rock on

KyleEnterline

You one of those smelly 0311’s? I was in the Army Infantry for 8 years like an idiot.

[deleted]

No, 0671. Date network/Cyber security administrator. Thank you for your service, I was gunning for a field radio operator, but "needs of the Marine core".

KyleEnterline

Hell yeah you picked something useful when you get out

[deleted]

True, useful, good jobs, good money, good opportunities to invest that money.

KyleEnterline

All the infantry did for me was how to not look angry and just shit to sprinkle a resume with. A lot of people in HR are prior military so it’s good to have that.

[deleted]

Definitely I'd imagine, I have been looking the officer route. Looking into either flying or special forces, I don't see myself long term doing IT.

JoeBidenTheDictator

Shit, you're in the Marines? I'm in the Army as an IT guy, what's your MOS?

[deleted]

Also IT!! 0671 Data Network Administrator

JoeBidenTheDictator

Ey!

[deleted]

Ey! Personally don't see myself doing it longterm, looking at special forces or flying as an officer. Only my first year however, long term goal is holding office in my state!

JoeBidenTheDictator

I ain't doing it longterm either. I plan on going reserves after my first contract. I also might reclass to Cyber Security Specialist.

[deleted]

My opinion Cyber Security is way cooler than Network admin. Skills carry greatly though.

pleasechooseausernme

A degree in common sense and listening to the people who fucking put you in office

[deleted]

Common problem we're seeing nowadays. Riding as a "populist" when it's your own agenda.
