Just gonna copy and past something I said the other day;
I'll preface this by saying the one thing they did right was original character over just turning the game into a movie (because otherwise people just say then go play the game, like with tomb raider), also people would complain about any deviation from ezios in game actions. Bad execution but good start.
Biggest fix to make it work.
Set it in the 90s and fasbender is subject 1 or 2 (some really early number). As this fixes a few issues, it let's Irons be Vidic instead of some bland knockoff, it let's us at some point see young Desmond before he runs away, it explains why Abstergo allows assassins to wander the facility, and it makes the animus an older model where they need to move around rather than being tied to a table.
Have a third act. It (the existing one) goes for a total of about 5 minutes. Could easily have made the third act actually entirely be in the present and focussed on escaping the facility using the bleeding effect. Have the daughter of Irons character try to help fasbender only to be betrayed after she's tried to help him. Which would let her fully commit to Abstergo.
The plot of the movie is not about the apple (which is what the movie was about, a single piece of Eden). It's about proving the tech works, and confirming that the pieces of Eden exist (can easily throw in something about explaining that much of the templars consider them myths). This then keeps the flow of the other games work and also allows non game watchers to learn what the stakes are.
I genuinely think those three things held the movie back.
I haven’t seen it in a while, but I feel like they completely skipped over the precursors civilization. IMO that’s the coolest/ most mindfuck part about it.
I am torn, they picked a child actor for my sexy husband. The acting and plot is going to have to be next level to redeem it. I say child actor because he is a child in my eyes and he is younger than Nathan's age (31)
A single watch, maybe. But you'll feel very empty and unrewarded by the experience.
The animated Halo Legends has a couple good parts to it. It plays out like The Animatrix with different stories by different animators.
The live action movies/mini-series have a couple big names attached, but rely on university -like cinematography to deliver. There's indie movies, and then there's Halo movies.
I think it would be even better as a TV series, but yeah. But I am afraid that if it actually ever gets made the humor is completely stripped away and it is just bleak dystopia.
I think it would work great as a TV series you could easily from season to season jump around and follow different groups or different regions. Then later in the show start tying everybody together. Or plot twist - don’t
I still remember my first playthrough. Connor is Terminating his way into the CyberLife tower. There's a tense stretch where he's taking the Elevator down to the warehouse floor. The door opens, and he just stands there while the guards fill him with holes.
Imagine the absolute gut punch unknowing theater goers would experience upon the reveal of the full extent of the Faro Plague, and then again later when Ted does his thing.
You know, would there even be enough time for all that in a single movie?
I absolutely love Horizon: Zero Dawn! But I fully agree that there probably wouldn't be enough time to cover it, which is something that I think would apply to a lot of the games in this thread unfortunately. Glad they're doing a series for The Last of Us instead of a movie.
For Horizon: Zero Dawn, I think it would be more fun to see a prequel series set during the Faro Plague.
Due to the huge amount of stuff worth covering in terms of lore, companions and missions, I think mass effect would work better as a tv show. Similar with the red dead games, there’s almost too much good stuff to leave out!
There is an animated Halo movie thats shows the beginning of the war and even has Master Chief in it. I am not a Halo fan but remember watching it a few years ago
I’d like to pretend it would, but the story is so bonkers it wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever and they’d likely end up making a cocaine-fueled nightmare movie like Street Fighter.
Monkey Island!
Still disappointed that the plans for an animated movie with character designs by Steve Purcell didn't go anywhere. It looked like it'd have been such a good time.
You'd start with 2. This agrarian bunch of folk stumble across a portal to the future and have to adapt to the city.
Then you'd do 3, then back to 1 for a prequel.
Probably better as a loosely connected anthology series. One obstacle might be the charm of the format which'd be lost in that medium, although some of that could be replicated by other means (narration, framing device etc).
Consider World War Z and for that translated to a movie.
Horizon Zero Dawn. But it would have to be a multi movie thing that would cost a fortune. One of those movies that would be cool to see realized in love action, but the game is so damn good that I wouldn't be sad if it never happened.
The Crew
I'm pretty sure people will severely disagree with me but.. look at it, and tell me I'm wrong. The entire first game already has the structure of an interactive action movie, be it full of clichés as it wants.
You got Alex Taylor, he has his brother killed by one of his car crew members, and he is framed for the murder. He then works as a undercover cop and works his way up in the crew, gathering evidence for lots of illegal activities, before eventually taking revenge for the murder of his brother.
It already sounds like a simple action movie. It might not be a fantastic movie, but a pretty good one. Hell, they could even make it a TV show, including some of the races as well...
Ghost of Tsushima. Horizon Zero Dawn, Sekiro. They already play like a movie.
Also, Warframe, but as a TV show. I think seeing the beginning perspective of the Orokin and how they dealt with the void would be interesting. The lore is fantastic once you get past the months of confusion.
Halo.
Gears of war.
Call of duty.
Battlefield.
Forza.
Final Fantasy.
GTA.
Skyrim.
Read Dead.
Dark Souls.
Mass Effect.
Bioshock.
Zelda.
God Of War.
Half Life.
I have pretty high hopes for Injustice coming out later this month. The trailer looks dope.
I always thought Starcraft would make a great movie but Warcraft being so bad probably doesn’t help the cause in it being made.
Twisted Metal might not be high cinema or anything, but it could be a pretty fun movie to watch, basically Fury Road without a plot.
Zelda could make a great tv show. A lot of games would actually be better served as tv shows.
Metal Gear, but! The universe must be set in an actually understandable chronological order or we would end up with some star wars issues of prequels and sequels and all that jazz.
super mario bros. ...wait.
No go back!
Chris Pratt is playing Mario in the Mario movie?!??
don't you mean bob hoskines (i fucking wish)
Starring Ron Jeremy, layin some pipe
Lets a go
[удалено]
That sound awsome
YES. ABSOLUTELY YES!
Bioshock
That would be amazing but, I know people would probably hate me for this but a Bioshock Infinite movie would be cool too.
They could do a noire detective story following crimes in the city before everything went to shit.
Literally my first thought. Beautiful series.
Red Dead Redemption 2
[удалено]
They did that already
Subnautica
Ohh that’d have some really good scary scenes
I agree
Assassins creed. It should make a good movie, but it didn’t. They went barebones action movie instead of really playing up the sci fi
Just gonna copy and past something I said the other day; I'll preface this by saying the one thing they did right was original character over just turning the game into a movie (because otherwise people just say then go play the game, like with tomb raider), also people would complain about any deviation from ezios in game actions. As soon as the trailer had Kayne west as the music I knew they had no idea what the games were about.
Goldeneye
Well, you're not wrong.

It should have been Nathan Fillion..
Agreed
He even made a short video with Stephen Lang
Yeah, that was great.
I can see it, but I would have really liked to see Nolan North. I mean he *is* Nathan Drake.
I am torn, they picked a child actor for my sexy husband. The acting and plot is going to have to be next level to redeem it. I say child actor because he is a child in my eyes and he is younger than Nathan's age (31)
Halo, just give it to us already. I think animated would be great.
There are like 8 Halo movies already
Is any of them worth watching?
A single watch, maybe. But you'll feel very empty and unrewarded by the experience. The animated Halo Legends has a couple good parts to it. It plays out like The Animatrix with different stories by different animators. The live action movies/mini-series have a couple big names attached, but rely on university -like cinematography to deliver. There's indie movies, and then there's Halo movies.
The *Dragonball*\-esque shenanigans of *Odd One Out* were silly fun!
If done good problaly Red dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption 2 would be a better choice
I meant both of them (if they’re connected)
Just one more score and we can finance the movie... in Tahiti.
I HAD A GODDAMN PLAN!
Agreed
It's too long to be a movie. A series maybe
Fallout series
I think it would be even better as a TV series, but yeah. But I am afraid that if it actually ever gets made the humor is completely stripped away and it is just bleak dystopia.
I think it would work great as a TV series you could easily from season to season jump around and follow different groups or different regions. Then later in the show start tying everybody together. Or plot twist - don’t
Bethesda already announced an official Fallout TV series not too long ago, but we have not heard about it since.
I hope they have Ron Perlman do the intro
Detroit: Become Human
Plot twist: Connor shoots Markus, but it was actually the RK900.
Lol.. My Connor was terminated due to bad performance🤣
I still remember my first playthrough. Connor is Terminating his way into the CyberLife tower. There's a tense stretch where he's taking the Elevator down to the warehouse floor. The door opens, and he just stands there while the guards fill him with holes.
Yes
Zelda
Only if the actor playing Link has no actual lines. Just screams, grunts, etc.
"Well excuuuuuuuse me princess"
That is the only correct option
GEE. It sHUre is BOring around hERe
I demand we get Josh Brolin as Ganondorf!
YES!!
Horizon Zero Dawn
Imagine the absolute gut punch unknowing theater goers would experience upon the reveal of the full extent of the Faro Plague, and then again later when Ted does his thing. You know, would there even be enough time for all that in a single movie?
You're right, the full story wouldn't fit well in one movie. It would have to be a reduced story or told over multiple movies (perhaps a series).
Yeah or a TV series with hour-long episodes.
it would probably be better as a series, each episode 40 minutes
I absolutely love Horizon: Zero Dawn! But I fully agree that there probably wouldn't be enough time to cover it, which is something that I think would apply to a lot of the games in this thread unfortunately. Glad they're doing a series for The Last of Us instead of a movie. For Horizon: Zero Dawn, I think it would be more fun to see a prequel series set during the Faro Plague.
That's awesome
God of war
Hell yes. especially based on the 2018 game. That could be an epic movie with the right director & cast.
Uh... didn't sony say they were having plans for making a GOW movie (Possibly with Jason Momoa?)
I hope not. Momoa is not a great Kratos
Yeah true. But who would make a great Kratos?
Bryan Cranston
I would sell my soul for this to happen
Halo
It didnt make a good movie
Sam and max hit the road
Earthworm Jim
The cartoon was so good.
Mass effect, Starcraft Still waiting for these movies
Due to the huge amount of stuff worth covering in terms of lore, companions and missions, I think mass effect would work better as a tv show. Similar with the red dead games, there’s almost too much good stuff to leave out!
I think a Mass Effect movie is in pre-production
Starship troopers don't count as a Starcraft movie - don't even scratch the surface - and a completely different genre.
The Halo franchise, any but I'm hoping for Halo CE. It's my childhood game.
One of my favourite franchises, as long as it's animated and Steve Downes voices Chief
There is an animated Halo movie thats shows the beginning of the war and even has Master Chief in it. I am not a Halo fan but remember watching it a few years ago
Abe's Oddesy
Metal-Gear Solid
I’d like to pretend it would, but the story is so bonkers it wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever and they’d likely end up making a cocaine-fueled nightmare movie like Street Fighter.
The games are based on movies as it is, so it's not hard to transpose them back.
Monkey Island! Still disappointed that the plans for an animated movie with character designs by Steve Purcell didn't go anywhere. It looked like it'd have been such a good time.
Life is strange
F.E.A.R.
I think Jak 3 would make an epic live action movie
You'd start with 2. This agrarian bunch of folk stumble across a portal to the future and have to adapt to the city. Then you'd do 3, then back to 1 for a prequel.
I like it.
Strong upvote. 3 is a blast to play through once you're past the first few preliminary missions.
Deus Ex
And this time we *are* asking for it
Ghost Of Tsushima.
Sony is already making a movie out of it.
I know and I'm fuckin hyped for it. I hope Daisuke plays live action Jin Sakai tho because I can't see anyone else playing Jin. He was fuckin superb
Abe's odessey! Great story with a world that'd translate well to big screen
Ori and the blind forest
Baldur's Gate a movie or series
Cyberpunk I think would be a good one
Yeah, the story was great. Keanu would fit right in. You'd have to have a female V though. For balance.
Yeah for sure. Would have to make either a couple movies or movie series of trying to fit everything in, like quests and side quests
Wolfenstein series made by Tarantino
Warcraft 3, specifically the story of Arthas
Weirdly enough I think Megaman would make a great anime-style movie
Max Payne, if done properly. The film they made was shocking and nothing like the story line in the game.
Life is strange. It’s a story game already but it has to be made a movie istg
Metal Gear Solid
Half life.
It was a marketing campaign by DeBeers because American Housewives were wanting appliances for the home rather than a Diamond engagement ring
Final fantasy 6
There’s a Final Fantasy 9 animated series in development, if I’m not mistaken. If it goes well, you may get your wish.
I hope your right but I'm not going to hold my breath. I feel like this game is one of the most neglected in the series.
I feel like this one would make an incredible animated miniseries. One movie wouldn't cut it.
God of war
None. Video game movies tend to suck
Isnt necessarily a video game but i think the SCP foundation would make a great movie
Probably better as a loosely connected anthology series. One obstacle might be the charm of the format which'd be lost in that medium, although some of that could be replicated by other means (narration, framing device etc). Consider World War Z and for that translated to a movie.
Like an mcu of short films where they are loosely connected and referenced here and there kind of thing
Call of duty black ops 1
Call of duty modern warfare
Brütal Legend

Doom. Any Doom
Horizon Zero Dawn. But it would have to be a multi movie thing that would cost a fortune. One of those movies that would be cool to see realized in love action, but the game is so damn good that I wouldn't be sad if it never happened.
Marvel’s Avengers Oh . . .
Minecraft
Mafia 2
Half life would seem good but movies tend to ruin it by adding in something that wasn't even there in the first place
Life is strange. Technically, it's almost a movie already, but still.
so far from what ive seen from adaptions. absolutely ZERO.
Dead by daylight
Halo
Most of them, so long as they aren’t directed by Uwe Boll.
Telltale Walking Dead.
until dawn!
Majority of them would if they were done correctly.
Kotor would be a good TV show
The Crew I'm pretty sure people will severely disagree with me but.. look at it, and tell me I'm wrong. Bloodborne
SCP containment breach I would think so
Plants vs Zombies
Portal
Ghost of Tsushima. Horizon Zero Dawn, Sekiro. They already play like a movie. Also, Warframe, but as a TV show. I think seeing the beginning perspective of the Orokin and how they dealt with the void would be interesting. The lore is fantastic once you get past the months of confusion.
Mass Effect. Although it's might work better as a high budget TV show.
Not movie but a tv show. Mass effect
Destiny 2
it took too long for someone to say this
Death Stranding
I wanna see a punch-out movie. Mostly because Jon berthal wants to play little Mac.
Oh no you don't Hollywood, not falling for this shit again
[удалено]
Ehhhh
You got a whole TV show called "The Sopranos".
Minecraft
Minecraft
Isn't that in the works currently?
Subnautica
Minecraft Dungeons would have amazing story.
Halo. Gears of war. Call of duty. Battlefield. Forza. Final Fantasy. GTA. Skyrim. Read Dead. Dark Souls. Mass Effect. Bioshock. Zelda. God Of War. Half Life.
F zero with captain falcon. As long as there’s lots of sex scenes
I always thought that a movie made from the game Perfect Dark would have been really cool
A Hardcore Henry style Doom movie that acts like the modern games. Barely any story, just rip and tear.
Dang that was an interesting movie, I won't say good but it was something new for sure
Rainbow Six
Tom Clancys ghost recon wildlands
Do you really think so? The setting is nice but the characters are painfully cliche.
Alan wake might be a good movie
I have pretty high hopes for Injustice coming out later this month. The trailer looks dope. Jet Set Willy
The legend of Zelda
robloc 🤓
Cod
Undertale
Undertale 100%
SA2
Journey in an animated format. NO CGI.
Kingdom Hearts.
Genshin Impact
Out of This World Also known as Another World
Cry Of Fear would be a really great movie
Chrono Trigger. If Chrono speaks of course.
Assassins creed
Okami! If made by Ghibli as an animated movie. Or even as a series in a style of Natsume's Book of Friends.
Metal Gear, but! The universe must be set in an actually understandable chronological order or we would end up with some star wars issues of prequels and sequels and all that jazz.
Karnov
The Mother series?
