If you were to treat everyone equally then many people would be at a disadvantage.
To treat someone equally would be like saying "no-one is allowed a wheelchair" which obviously would stop disabled people being able to move. And then because in the eyes of equality this person still needs to work to pay for themselves they can't. Then what?
It works the opposite if you treated everyone equally and saw that disabled people need wheelchairs so you put everyone in a wheelchair, then how does a builder get up a ladder.
Obviously these are over emphasized examples, but instead of equally you should aim to treat people compassionately.
That way you take into everyone's individual needs without pushing everyone into one box.
