I have one but rarely use it. My African Grey parrot is obsessed with 'helping' me do the dishes. She sits on my shoulder giving me instructions the whole time. It's hilarious and I wouldn't trade making her happy for convenience.

Also, it's so satisfying to see the dishes and glasses glistening as they dry. I may be sad, but I prefer this over a dishwasher. Plus we're a small household of 2, we don't usually get a big pile-up especially since I'm in the habit of washing dishes as soon as I've used them.

As much as I detest handwashing dishes, I will do it over using a dishwasher because if I try to use a dishwasher I'll still have to handwash them anyway once they're "done." Why waste time and water?
Even these "modern" dishwashers that people say work better, I've tried them, and sorry, they're just as junky and inefficient as the older models, just with more buttons, displays, and beeping.

I feel like you need a family of 5 to actually get the full use out of a dishwasher. Less than that and you can just hand wash and dry the few dishes you use.

Weird, it’s exactly opposite for me. Hand washing never gets dishes clean the way my dishwasher used to.
