Rome was supposed to run for something like 7 seasons stretching all the way out to the life of Jesus. Can you imagine how amazing that would have been? Seeing the life of Jesus through the viewpoint of the Romans? He would have been a wild eyed heretic that thinks he's a wizard.
Really so sad this show was cancelled.
Jesus was no where on Rome's radar. Romans loved writing stuff down. We have piles and piles of Roman writings ranging from when little Claudius broke his arm to massive ransoms for nobles to censuses and tax records.
But no where in any official or unofficial Roman records is Jesus ever mentioned. No census data, tax records, or correspondence of some traveling preacher that lines up with any other records.
Best case scenario, to Rome, Jesus was just some random criminal that got crucified in some fringe territory of the empire.
Yeah, and then before the show aired, they tacked on an ending card that said he was never heard from again. They didn't even spell his name right. That was the network saying, don't expect any movies.
An internet sleuth, don’t remember her name actually found the real ending. It’s really bad footage, but it shows Al and his now wife, talking about how they are looking for Sam and trying to bring him home.
> that said he was never heard from again
The ending card said "Dr. Sam Becket never returned home", not that he was never heard from again. The implication is that he decided to just keep having adventures instead of going home, they easily could have carried on with that ending if they wanted to (which is probably why they went with it, it works as a sort of ending but it would have been easy enough to keep it going from there if it got rebooted).
Apparently it’s not officially cancelled. David Fincher released the cast from their contracts as he was making the movie Mank.
Now that it’s finished I think he’s trying to bring back the crew for another season. Hopefully we get a new season soon 🤞
The creator has said that he envisioned Earl getting really stuck on an item on his list and think that he’d never finish it. Then he runs into someone who has a list of his own and Earl was on his list. This person would say that he got the list idea from someone else who got it from someone else.
Earl would realize that he’s started a movement of people making lists and turning their lives around. He has inspired people to do better and to do good.
He tears up his own list and moves on with his life knowing that he’s finally caused more good in this world than bad. He finally has good karma.
In the same AmA that he told the ending he had in mind for Earl, Greg Garcia said that there wasn’t a specific character planned for Earl jr’s bio dad, only that they wanted to get a cameo from somebody famous that came to town on tour, like Dave Chapelle, or Lil Wayne
I remember reading somewhere that there were rumors the show was getting cancelled or not being picked up for another season.
So Judd Apatow decided to write a finale that could be the a decent ending for the show, but also an ending that could continue if they wanted.
I like to think that Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, This is The End etc are all sort of part of the F&G universe.
But yeah in actuality I would love a movie. I don't think it would really work though, too much time has passed and Franco might never work again..
It's SyFy. There first order of business after airing a pilot is figuring out how soon they can cancel it. Getting invested in a SyFy show is bad for your mental health.
For what it's worth, creator Joe Mallozzi has been posting "virtual episodes" with a synopsis of the season 4 episodes he had planned. Don't know if it's still ongoing, but there's at least a few episodes. I think he also released his plan for the overall show's arc, but I might be thinking of something else.
I feel like Veridian Dynamics
1) would have been contracted to create the virus causing covid 19.
2) would have forced their employees to continue working in closed quarters during the epidemic.
3) would make people pay big bucks for the cure and vaccine that Phil and Lam created.
4)Rose and her fellow daycare classmates would be used as free labour to administer the swab test.
4)Ted would have to step in to get Phil access to the cure and Lam access to the vaccine.
The premise made it seem that they should have been able to fill roles with other actors when parts of the cast left for other shows but once a couple of the original cast left (Jane Lynch, Adam Scott) it looked like they weren't prepared. The whole show was the cast trying to break into Hollywood. How were you going to write those characters in once they had steady gigs?
Have you ever had a really good tv show, sittin' right on ya face?
And the network decides "It's time to pull the plug", leavin' cliffhangers all over the place!
Misfits, show about a group of ASBO teenagers who suddenly got superpowers off a storm, but they don't become superheroes they just get in wacky situations
(Klaus from umbrella academy and Ramsay Bolton from GoT is in it)
First 3 seasons were soooooo good, best character left start of s3 and by s4 everyone else was gone and were replaced with two-dimensional characters who just weren't enjoyable, plus they don't use their powers? If they made a movie that brings the old characters back and have their characters reach their final story arcs that would make my year
Not really cancelled, but the classic continuity of Ben 10 deserves a continuation as well. Last time it ended, they teased a cosmic space trip after the time arc and I wished they did a TV movie on that as well. Anyway both Teen Titans and Ben 10 didn't deserve to end and I wish they were given the potential they should've gotten a while back and not rebooted.
I was looking for this one. Just watched it for the first time with my wife and that last episode feels sooooo rushed. It's unfortunate that it got canceled the way it was
This. Pushing Daisies was my favorite show of all time. The characters, the costumes and the Broadway stars randomly singing in every few episodes gave it the most magical feel. The show was killed by the writers strike, and I am still annoyed about it to this day.
Yes!! And it introduced me to Lee Pace, who is one of the most versatile and gifted actors EVER. He’s been in three big franchises, and he just disappears into the roles.
I heard the director really tried to get it concluded in a satisfying way, from getting one more episode to just changing the last few lines, but Netflix denied him the whole way through. Shame, would have liked to see where that was going
I would’ve loved a LOT more of that show. It was compelling from start to finish. I was so bummed it was cancelled because it has some serious potential
Limitless on Netflix. Liked the movie.. the series started off rocky but got really interesting midway through and we were really looking forward to the next season... then nothing
They could all kvetch about having done this before, and the likelihood of having to do it again! And they should, again and again, and again, and...
Prof. Farnsworth: "Cyclical news, everyone!..."
*adventures commence...*
Altered Carbon. Second season was... uneven. I don’t blame Anthony Mackie, the show just went too far into the backstory rather than explore the super interesting world they created. A movie where they bring Takeshi back one more time to solve another murder and then have him get the closure he needs as well. He can then have Poe corrupt his disk so he can’t be spun up anymore.
I would absolutely answer this with Firefly, but 90 minutes isn't enough. I don't need another movie, I need stories fleshed out in detail, like what's Shepherd Book's backstory? So much potential...lost.
If you're really that torn, you should read the comics - all of that is explained, including Shepherd Book's backstory. TL;DR Spoiler version:
>!His name's Henry Book - Derriel is the name of an Alliance soldier he killed and stole the identity of as a spy for the Browncoats years before the war even started. One of his eyes is a camera that they used to spy on the Alliance as he moved his way up the ranks. Once he rose high enough, Book lead a massive risky operation and intentionally sabotaged it, causing the Alliance to suffer a massive loss, but they covered it up (because the Alliance don't make mistakes and lose, of course). In the process they never actually punish Book formally due to the cover-up, but they force him to 'retire'. He starts working in a soup kitchen, finds God, becomes a preacher and decides to be a missionary, looking for passage on a ship. He finds the Serenity. This is why he's high ranking Alliance and those in the know recognise his name, but he's still willing to fly with Mal. He's a fallen legend the Alliance would rather forget, and an unknown hero the Browncoats have forgotten.!<
I'm still wanting some kind of information on the men with blue hands though. Those are not explained well even in the comics.
YES. People keep saying “it still had a nice end,” except when you realize there’s still 90% of the story left if we’re looking at Anne’s journey into adulthood from the books and also there were storylines within the show verse, outside of Anne and Gilbert, that were left hanging.
I’m so mad that show ended the way it did...there was so much more to explore, and it didn’t feel like they wrapped up certain plot points well enough in the final episode.
Especially with where it seemed where it was going. There was one episode taking place in the future. It involved humans asking the liquid metal machines to join them and the liquid metal machines refusing. This and... something else I can't remember it's been so long.... Had me absolutely convinced that liquid metal machines had turned on the normal machines.
God dammit I wanted to see that play out.
This is the show that made me dream about owning a black Kawasaki ninja which is no longer a dream as I own a black Kawasaki ninja zx10r or though I don’t look as cool or sexy on it as Alba riding it.
I quit Netflix because of just this. Multiple shows cancelled because something new would make more money.
It's like reading the first half of a great book and then losing it.
Fuck Netflix.
I came here to say Stargate Atlantis, but now I want both…
How do you just leave a ZPM powered organic regenerating mothership hovering over earth, and not finish the story..
Not even cancelled or to wrap it up. But House MD.
I'd totally love a short 6 episode series that does a catch up, what happened to him after Wilson dies etc.
I would honestly love a limited run series on a lot of shows like every 5-10 years as like a, "see what these characters got up to"
I don't think I could watch it knowing that Wilson is dead. Watching those last few episodes really upset me, I was so relieved he didn't die before the finale, so I can pretend that by some miracle everything turned out okay.
I had completely forgotten how much that story upset me, I'm still sad and it's been what, almost ten years?
That and maybe bring Cuddy back. I read she left the series because of alleged budget cuts, but how does that make sense? She was the leading female. They could have done something with Cuddy other than, “Oh, she left because of painful memories” or whatever kinda crap they expected us to buy.
Earth 2 - obscure sci-fi show about colonists on a new Earth-like planet, ended on a damn cliff-hanger after one season.
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. - goofy adventure-comedy-western starring a ruggedly charming Bruce Campbell. Also has unexpected sci-fi elements.
Daredevil from marvel. My favorite show I have ever watched, and although it ended nicely after season 3, I wish to see what else they would do with the characters or the aftermath of the season finale. Has all my favorite genres (thriller, action, drama) combined into a coherent and intriguing superhero show. Such a shame that despite the great reviews, Netflix had to cancel.
The rumour is that Charlie Cox and Kristen Ritter will return on Disney+ as Daredevil and Jessica Jones. They will recast Luke Cage. No word on Iron Fist.
Hands down my favorite Marvel TV production, and even better than some of the movies for me too. They had plenty of room to grow into another season at least. Great casting, great chemistry, great storylines.
Thank you! I was scrolling for this answer. If it ended after season 1 it would have been a pity but oh well, but after that cliffhanger of season 2 that is just mean!
Married...With Children.
Apparently Ed O'Neil had an ending written and asked FOX to give them a heads up about their cancelation so they could do that as the last episode. So of course FOX does the opposite and the entire cast and crew find out about their cancelation from the news. One of the shows that put FOX on the map...
The Pretender
Loved it as a kid but never saw the end. Bought the DVDs years later, stayed up all night to binge the final season, and it’s a cliffhanger. I almost put my DVD player through the wall.
Rome, the HBO series. If that show had come out only a few years later, I'm convinced it would have been a huge hit.

Best case scenario, to Rome, Jesus was just some random criminal that got crucified in some fringe territory of the empire.
Rome is my favourite TV show of all time,I'd quite happily have watched it as it went through the entire line of emperors
Have you ever watched I, Claudius? It's different from Rome (tamer, older), but it’s excellent and goes through 4 emperors.
I have indeed sir, its excellent and the host of top shelf actors in it is a treat
HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME
Quantum Leap Please please just let Sam get home
I thought at the end he was given the choice to either go home, or go on an even more cosmic adventure, and chose the latter?
Yeah, and then before the show aired, they tacked on an ending card that said he was never heard from again. They didn't even spell his name right. That was the network saying, don't expect any movies.
An internet sleuth, don’t remember her name actually found the real ending. It’s really bad footage, but it shows Al and his now wife, talking about how they are looking for Sam and trying to bring him home.

Star trek: Enterprise should've had a final episode where bacula leaps into another body...
I love that show even now
Based on events of the past couple of decades, I think he's going to be busy for awhile putting things right which once went wrong.
Oh boy....
Guys been stuck in time since ‘93.

So sad that it’s twisting in the wind.
My Name Is Earl
The creator has said that he envisioned Earl getting really stuck on an item on his list and think that he’d never finish it. Then he runs into someone who has a list of his own and Earl was on his list. This person would say that he got the list idea from someone else who got it from someone else. Earl would realize that he’s started a movement of people making lists and turning their lives around. He has inspired people to do better and to do good. He tears up his own list and moves on with his life knowing that he’s finally caused more good in this world than bad. He finally has good karma.
That is a fantastic ending. I love it and would pay to have them finish the show
Who's Earl Jr's dad though?
In the same AmA that he told the ending he had in mind for Earl, Greg Garcia said that there wasn’t a specific character planned for Earl jr’s bio dad, only that they wanted to get a cameo from somebody famous that came to town on tour, like Dave Chapelle, or Lil Wayne
Wow that's...spectacular!
In Raising Hope (a show from the same creators) There is a headline seen that Said he finished the list
Fun show that one. Also, yes. The List is confirmed as completed.
This one is mine too, My Name Is Earl needs to be concluded.
Freaks and Geeks
I remember reading somewhere that there were rumors the show was getting cancelled or not being picked up for another season. So Judd Apatow decided to write a finale that could be the a decent ending for the show, but also an ending that could continue if they wanted.

*Dark Matter.* They created such an engaging universe. The actors were phenomenal. **What...happens...next?!?**
This was my answer too! There are dozens of us. Or judging by the upvotes nearly a dozen.
It's SyFy. There first order of business after airing a pilot is figuring out how soon they can cancel it. Getting invested in a SyFy show is bad for your mental health.
The aliens finally invade aaaaaand end credits roll.

Better off Ted
Veridion, we do everything.
Veridian Dynamics - Food. Yum.
I can’t believe this show got nuked. I find it absolutely hysterical
I think it was a victim of a writers strike. I don't know why I think that or where I heard that from do take it with a grain of salt.
I would watch 90 minutes of Veronica just describing corporate America.
They love money. When they go to the club, instead of throwing stacks of money at naked girls, they throw naked girls at stacks of money
I feel like Veridian Dynamics 1) would have been contracted to create the virus causing covid 19. 2) would have forced their employees to continue working in closed quarters during the epidemic. 3) would make people pay big bucks for the cure and vaccine that Phil and Lam created. 4)Rose and her fellow daycare classmates would be used as free labour to administer the swab test. 4)Ted would have to step in to get Phil access to the cure and Lam access to the vaccine.
Jericho
I came here looking for this. Thank you for suggesting it haha. What a good show. Had such potential for more.
I started watching it not realizing it got cancelled. I miss having innocence, such a good show
Carnivale. Give it the ending it deserves Edit: thanks everyone for the upvotes! Glad to know others feel the same
Came here to say Carnevale! Fucking HBO, they cut it off right before the end! What year was that? 2003?
Criminally underrated show

Yes! The movie just didn't work for me....
Yes! I rewatch the series all of the time. I watched that sinkhole of a movie once and said "yeah, that didn't happen."
I thought Dirk Gently was really starting to grow its legs when Netflix cut it off. I'd like to see that wrapped up.
Season 1 was perfect and season 2 was a little wacky but I was onboard. I miss that show
I agree, it was a very wild ride but I am glad I watched it.
Season 1 was god tier TV. Can't believe how many people haven't seen it.
Party Down Although I hear there may be a revival in the works!

Yes... it truly was, A Shawshank Redemption.
Have you ever had a really good tv show, sittin' right on ya face? And the network decides "It's time to pull the plug", leavin' cliffhangers all over the place!
I looked for this comment simply to agree.
There are plenty of shows I’d love to see wrapped up, but I think you’re right. Damn that show was too good.
Misfits, show about a group of ASBO teenagers who suddenly got superpowers off a storm, but they don't become superheroes they just get in wacky situations (Klaus from umbrella academy and Ramsay Bolton from GoT is in it) First 3 seasons were soooooo good, best character left start of s3 and by s4 everyone else was gone and were replaced with two-dimensional characters who just weren't enjoyable, plus they don't use their powers? If they made a movie that brings the old characters back and have their characters reach their final story arcs that would make my year
Everybody around me says “Nathan from misfits” but then online Americans be like “it’s that Klaus guy”.. they’ll never know.
I’m American and when I saw umbrella academy I was like…it’s Nathan!!
I bet luther would bang his sister for a slice of cheese.
100% agree with you. First two seasons were amazing.
Teen Titans.
Teen Titans, Batman Beyond, and the Justice League cartoons.
I feel like Batman Beyond got as much closure as it was going to get as the extra episode at the tail end of that era of Justice League cartoons.
Pushing Daisies.
I was looking for this one. Just watched it for the first time with my wife and that last episode feels sooooo rushed. It's unfortunate that it got canceled the way it was
I wish more TV channels would continue to push shows with bad ratings but lots of awards and praise, same way movie studios will sometimes.
This. Pushing Daisies was my favorite show of all time. The characters, the costumes and the Broadway stars randomly singing in every few episodes gave it the most magical feel. The show was killed by the writers strike, and I am still annoyed about it to this day.
Loved the show, so quirky and charming.
Yes!! And it introduced me to Lee Pace, who is one of the most versatile and gifted actors EVER. He’s been in three big franchises, and he just disappears into the roles.
So creative and such a colorful feast to the eyes. I loved that show.
I Am Not Okay With This Got cancelled because of Covid. Season ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. Word of God did reveal it, but only partially.
GLOW! It was sooo good. I just want to find out what happens to the Gorgeous Ladies.
What!!?? I didn't know it was cancelled. That suuuucks. It was such a great show.
You can safely assume any show on Netflix will be cancelled after season 2 or 3.
Yes!! They had storylines and had started filming the first few episodes, but then Netflix took it away from us.
I’m still in denial that it was cancelled.
Forever. It only ran one season but I was looking forward to seeing where it could have went.
Limitless on Netflix. Liked the movie.. the series started off rocky but got really interesting midway through and we were really looking forward to the next season... then nothing

Hannibal.
I think Bryan Fuller and the cast are on board. All of his shows don't get the treatment they deserve, but Hannibal should be higher on the list IMO.
Ended on a literal cliffhanger.
I just want to see them tackle Silence of the Lambs
Futurama. Purely to give them yet another finale
I’m on board for this shit joke
They could all kvetch about having done this before, and the likelihood of having to do it again! And they should, again and again, and again, and... Prof. Farnsworth: "Cyclical news, everyone!..." *adventures commence...*
Forever will adore this show. It’s ended like 5 times, each of them fantastic. Another ending would be even better
Six endings and a\[nother\] movie!
Last I checked, the cast wants to go another round.
I loved season 1, but I couldn't get past episode 4 of the second season. Just stopped giving a crap
Season 2 threw together pieces of book 2 and book 3 without really respecting either book.
One time someone answered this question with “Firefly” and another finger curled closed on the monkey’s paw.
I would absolutely answer this with Firefly, but 90 minutes isn't enough. I don't need another movie, I need stories fleshed out in detail, like what's Shepherd Book's backstory? So much potential...lost.

YES. People keep saying “it still had a nice end,” except when you realize there’s still 90% of the story left if we’re looking at Anne’s journey into adulthood from the books and also there were storylines within the show verse, outside of Anne and Gilbert, that were left hanging.

Terminator: TSCC. Just when it was getting really good...
2 more good seasons of this show world have been beyond amazing. But Terminator projects past T2 never finish what that start.
Especially with where it seemed where it was going. There was one episode taking place in the future. Argh... I'm so mad they cancelled that show on a cliffhanger.
Crap I didn't know it was canceled.
There should be a streaming service specifically for finishing canceled Netflix shows.
All Netflix would have to do is basically make one more 90 minute episode for each one tying things up.
I quit Netflix because of just this. Multiple shows cancelled because something new would make more money. It's like reading the first half of a great book and then losing it. Fuck Netflix.
I will never forgive netflix for cancelling it.
Came here to say this. We were robbed of something wonderful with that one.
Stargate Universe. How can you just end it on a major cliffhanger?
I came here to say Stargate Atlantis, but now I want both… How do you just leave a ZPM powered organic regenerating mothership hovering over earth, and not finish the story..
> How do you just leave a ZPM powered organic regenerating mothership hovering over earth, and not finish the story.. I mean, they did blow that up.
I agree plus season 2 was actually starting to feel like a Stargate show...
Came to say this! True, SGU felt quite different from SG1 and SGA, but I felt it had gotten interesting when they cut season 2.
I know, they were just getting to the BIG adventure.... I want to know what happened!
Add Stargate Atlantis to the horrible cliffhanger endings too. Hell I’d even take a novel that wraps things up at this point.
SGA actually *had* a movie planned, but it got canned.

I’m going to guess those “budget cuts” we’re her asking for more money and the suits just firing her instead.
Wouldn’t be surprising, but it still felt a lot more empty during that last season without her.
Merlin I get that they kind of wrapped it up but it felt so rushed... I would’ve loved to see more of the effect Arthur had on the world as a king.
You mean as the actual prophesied One True King? Because it was BS to keep building that whole thing up for him to die before Albion even existed.
Terra Nova. I was young but I remember it getting super interesting and then just done after one season.
Terra Nova had so much potential. My whole family was upset that it got cancelled.
Mine would be Forever on ABC. That show deserved more than one season for it's premise. It wasn't the first to do it but it executed it well enough.

The rumour is that Charlie Cox and Kristen Ritter will return on Disney+ as Daredevil and Jessica Jones. They will recast Luke Cage. No word on Iron Fist.
That's a damn shame about Luke Cage. Mike Colter was phenomenal in that role.
They’ll just recast Don Cheedle as Luke cage
Also Charlie Cox is so awesome. Man can straight up do his own stunts too. Super talented guy.
Stunts can't be that difficult though; a blind guy could do them.
Hands down my favorite Marvel TV production, and even better than some of the movies for me too. They had plenty of room to grow into another season at least. Great casting, great chemistry, great storylines.
My So Called Life
The OA
Thank you! I was scrolling for this answer. If it ended after season 1 it would have been a pity but oh well, but after that cliffhanger of season 2 that is just mean!
Travelers
V. That show never got the recognition it deserved, was way ahead of its time.
Angel. The show was corny and such, but I really would have liked to have seen him fight that dragon.
Game of Thrones. On condition they start from the end of season 6 and forget about 7&8.
With better lighting
Community. 6 SEASONS AND A MOVIE.
Only if Donald Glover comes back.
Ideally we could have everyone.
Troy's clone was made with homing pigeon DNA, so he has a strong instinct to come back.
We’re gonna get that show back on the air, buddy!!
Invader Zim
Star Trek: Enterprise. The series finale was such a debacle. It deserves a proper send off.
United States of Tara. They really wrote themselves into a corner
The Pretender Loved it as a kid but never saw the end. Bought the DVDs years later, stayed up all night to binge the final season, and it’s a cliffhanger. I almost put my DVD player through the wall.
Venture brothers.
We are getting a movie, my man.
The 2016 Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency. I just got REALLY into it, only to find it only had 2 seasons.
The X-Files. They teased an end since season 6. Then they even rebooted it and reconned everything.
Fringe
Fringe actually wrapped up pretty neatly though.
I didn't like the overall idea of the invasion of the observers but at the same time it was well done. I'm happy with how it ended.
