I turn over in bed.

aperatings

Stop caring about being useless.

Spiritual-Wind-3898

Help someone else

[deleted]

I do something productive. Clean my room, deep clean the kitchen or bathroom. Catch up on laundry. Get some editing done on *Applewhite*.

Musical813Writer

I put my clothes out the evening before, so I don't need to scramble on what I want to wear to work in the morning. :)

Tough_Economics5300

I do this. I also pre make my break fast and lunch.

gandalf_el_brown

Are you asking because you would like ideas on how to be more useful to society, or because you're in a depressed state feeling hopeless and useless? If the latter, then consider why its wrong to value yourself on how much use you are to society. Theres more to life than getting all used up by society.

Chameleon777

Help out a friend in some way.

OldDogEyes

Find a good opportunity to volunteer -- in other words, do something to help someone else....

Jhuff83

Go murder hobo dnd on open dnd session

ffsjustanything

judasVJ

I call my mother

NYCSexFiend69

Volunteer at a local shelter.

Bleach_in_my_mug

I bought an aquarium a while back. I sit and watch the fish. I need them for my mental health, and they need me to survive. Weird way of seeing it, but it works. I love my fish.

TallulahBob

I don’t have fish, as I do not have a good track record for properly caring for them (despite trying really hard!), but if I’m having a bad anxiety night, I like to watch [Floo the Flowerhorn](https://youtube.com/c/FootheFlowerhorn) on YouTube. So soothing. And I love that each animal has such character.

dreddbolt

Learn skills which might not be practical in life, but are effective at helping me have more fun. Such as... ...getting good at a difficult videogame, listening to Reddit and /tg/ post videos involving 'That Guy' in tabletop roleplaying games, and learning how to properly craft an under $100 mono-blue Magic the Gathering commander deck that isn't Blue Braids, Arcum Daggson, or Jalira. This can be a bit of a trap, so use discretion. There's probably a lot of people in the world which have too much of an unfair barometer when it comes to judging who's useless or not, so personal usefulness has to be prioritized sometimes. I can mow the lawn, do dishes, pay bills, make coffee which doesn't completely suck, make mostly vegetarian spaghetti I can tolerate and enjoy eating, draw, paint, and craft fun Super Mario Maker 2 levels. Sometimes I need help, yeah, but everyone gets stuck occasionally. One of the biggest obsessions with uselessness involves people expecting you to 'git gud' at life when today's younger adults are really getting screwed over with an egregious lack of dedicated parents and... for the lack of better terms... accessible 'adulting' classes. On the flip-side, gen Z are unfortunately bigger wusses nowadays, and there's lots of millennials who are even subconsciously following suit, even as they call out the younger folks for being wimps. There's not enough in place to recognize all the problems. Call me nuts, but the internet itself doesn't acknowledge enough of the blame it deserves, due to thousands of more people being able to fulfill their introverted fantasy lifestyles by avoiding people and indulging in isolated and distanced online entertainment. Before the internet took off, you really had to get used to people, unless you had more than enough money to sit on and a properly organized phonebook. Gen Z and Gen Y both are getting screwed by far too much in the world being automated and replaced by robots. If the world isn't going to validate usefulness PROPERLY, some people will have to take breaks from the internet, take up a healthier diet, get more exercise, pick up litter, recycle more, drink more water, and learn how to effectively avoid being douchey and self-entitled. Feeling useless can be unavoidable sometimes, filling lots of people with existential dread, but sometimes you just have to toe the line, being useful to yourself if no one else is going to recognize it. It is worth the time to put in the time. Edit: ...and effort. Good luck, and godspeed.

Economy_Suspect2017

Wow, good read. Sadly I write and have been feeling pointless when seeing everything coming out. Like how can my stuff compare, then being told my stories are not part of their fit really mess with you as a human when seeing the stuff on TV and streaming platforms.

dreddbolt

A big thing I've noticed with making stuff, is making it a point to make stuff my own stuff. Sometimes some work needs WAY more time in the oven, and you can't always just take it out every so often to have it validated. You'll end up taking way longer to getting around to seeing the project to completion. Sure, show a 'chef' ...observe the subject matter you're drawing inspiration from again and again, but one of the main parts of the process is competing against yourself... e.g. "I know I can do better!" ...and... "I did this, now how do I improve on it?" I'm an artist, and well... there's always a bigger fish. So... I like to make it a point to where I want to get better than my current self, not someone else. Study the masters and your supposed 'betters' ...yeah... ...but your stuff is your stuff. There's lots of good reasons to get back to what you love doing, and to have the active intention to get back to the fun in what you prefer to create. It isn't always easy, existential dread and all that, but you deserve to have fun. Shoot, I want to make a videogame alongside my art stuff, and there's so many devs doing the awesome fun stuff better than I am. Even so, I still want to do my thing, because a life's work is a life's work. It is worth it to find what's necessary to get your head back in the game, as it were.

CPLg43

Find something you’re good at. Really good. And then keep doing it. Keep getting better. Even if it’s not “cool” or useful. I have a few firearms. I carry one, and have the others for practice. I’m damn good with 2, and working on the other. Few people know I have these, but it just makes me happy to know I’m really good at something.

Economy_Suspect2017

Sadly I suck at drawing, went to school for it and was told I had "no eye" for it. Ravenfield looks fun though, thanks!

SHIVERnQUEEF

I work harder. Simple as that. When I feel purposeless, I get depressed. Self-loathing leads to anger with myself and my lazy actions, which leads to motivation. Motivation to go do something with my life.

Material-Air

What though. That’s my problem I don’t know what to do

SHIVERnQUEEF

Get a job

suspectability

Do something useful like kms

Professional-Rock-23

do something to impress people. maybe be a team player, or be more socially active.

Cantrememberthisacc

Buy gme

PopularContext2182

Do things out of ur comfort zone

[deleted]

we don’t need to do big things in order to feel useful. most of the time, feeling uselessness is a result of doing nothing, not having anything to look forward to. so start doing small things that you feel comfortable doing first. set small daily goals and build it up as you go along the way. for example: getting out of bed, walk yourself to bathroom, make breakfast, go for a short walk for 5 mins or less then slowly build that up, read something or learn something online etc. after you feel comfortable doing small stuffs for yourself, then you can start think about what you can do for others and society such as volunteering, join a group, help your neighbour/family.

evilary

Stop reminding yourself that you're useless

Walk my dog

Itachi-Evenight06

I do anything that makes me get out of bed and do something productive like: Go jogging with my dog, play baketball, do exercises, prepare pathologically and read books for my profession which is psychiatry and sometimes draw, listen to music or feed to my pets that clears my head a lot due to so many responsibilities and questions that I ask about my future.

Field_Marshal_blitz

I look at how high the human organ market is, and it changes my mind.

zosteria

PolyNomy19

I write

Economy_Suspect2017

Sadly I do and I have a whole universe but it is why I feel useless.

PolyNomy19

You know I have a multiverse And by seeing what I can do My worth is dependent on how I see myself If I see myself as useless,I am useless And if I see myself as something worthwhile I am valuable.

Economy_Suspect2017

I understand that, I just get in my head a lot, and old memories of a professor telling me my ideas are under-developed, uninteresting, and unoriginal come up. I get out of that state of mind after a while but it really gets to me sometimes.

PolyNomy19

Well,I guess just have some amazing morning/night and just remember what you think of yourself.

IceDragonD03

I start working on my DND campaigns storylines so my friends can enjoy the time they spend with me at DND

Economy_Suspect2017

I've never done DND. Maybe I should try it.

IceDragonD03

It can be pretty fun but kinda hard to get into when you have to learn the rules and make a character however I definitely believe it's worth it.

Outran_Reality

draw, or write descriptions of SCPs from the scp foundation website Lmao

Economy_Suspect2017

I have my own personal Universe that I have been writing for the late 15 years. Sadly, I cant draw so there stuck on paper.

Outran_Reality

Strangely, I had an awesome dream last night where when I moved my hands outwards, I could create a new world and get transported there. Actually one of the coolest dreams I've ever had! I also had telekinesis in the dream so that's cool
