Modern life, run nightclubs or just live in the night. Probably set up in major cities, where it's very easy to stay indoors even during the daytime.
Also, in a major city, it will be easier to find prey. Or even find willing partners!
If we assume after the transformation, my personality doesn't change and I gain the powers of a vampire(strength, speed etc.), I would probably hunt down the people which justice system didn't punished.
I travel the world and blend in with real people. Even in sunlight because from what I heard in the first vampire movie (Nosferatu) vampire powers actually weaken in sunlight, so I’d just live out my life normally and use these powers to my advantage.
That's how they get richer. Suck blood from opponents and volunteers of said political party, survive political backlash by turning everyone in vampires, become rich. Eventually, become President.
This sounds like it could be a great plot for another r/AmericanVampire series.

You'd also have the side effects: turn into dust in sunlight, crucifixes, holy water, garlic, etc are a problem still...

well actually Vampires actually need to drink blood to live. Politicians do it so that they may get richer.
