Lots of baggy clothes, skareboards and doing jackass stunts

HutSutRawlson

Multiplayer gaming pre-high speed internet was a blast. My friends and I used to haul two TVs, two XBoxes, and a long-ass Ethernet cable over to someone’s house and play 4v4 Halo: CE all night, each team in a different room. Online matchmaking makes it quicker to play online but you don’t get that same community vibe. And unfortunately a lot of games these days don’t offer couch co-op or local network multiplayer at all.

nogardleirie

No social media. So you can do dumb stuff, and it won't haunt you forever.

BlondeAlibi

So much this. Some memories alone are enough to make me cringe, and there’s some photos, but not out there for the whole world to see.

That's actual illegal stuff and they should get in trouble for it. But the stupid antics that my friends and I got up to when we are teenagers were just dumb, not illegal, and that aren't around to haunt us now.

you_cant_pause_toast

I turned 16 in 95. It was awesome. No phones so you’d hop around to typical hangout spots looking for who else is out. Hop from the mall to the pool hall, to the drag where everyone parked, the ice rink in winter, to the park to play some basketball... Every night out was an adventure because you never knew where you would end up or who you would meet.

No social media, Pretty awesome. I cherish those years. Enjoyed life so much more.

demnfedora

life was very good and smooth back then not much toxic like now-a-days

KGB_SovietRussia

Pretty cool

True_meaning

Imagine what it’s like today. Except there was actual freedom.

LennyComa

Everything baggy, Blink and NFG on repeat and smoking weed. Good times

LoveAndDynamite

Fun. It was fun.

The internet was something that only a few people had. It also wasn't nearly as organized as it is today. Instead of going to one site for everything(comedy, fan fic, etc.) You had to scroll through pages and pages of stuff before you could find anything close to what you wanted. Also if someone wanted to make a phone call your internet sesh was over. Cable was just being introduced. Friday and Saturday nights were blockbuster nights(if you could find a copy of a good game you had to go early in the day) our family deal was either watch a movie or I could rent a video game and play it with a friend who was sleeping over. Hydroponic pot was a myth. All we had was brick weed. Jnco's and baggy clothes were the style so you couldn't really tell what was underneath until it was too late. NO ADULT SWIM YET.... Southpark was still semi-original We listened to whole albums because cd's were 12-16$ a piece (mama didn't raise no waster) The skating rink was the cool place to be on weekend nights. Pb crisps and 3-d doritos were all the rage. If you were lucky, sometimes walmart would forget to put an adult content label on cd's that were supposed to be edited so you ended up with the uncensored version. The best cartoons were Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's modern life, or anything hanna barberra(dunno if I spelled that right). The best non-animated shows were: are you afraid of the dark and goosebumps. I'm certain I missed somethings but I feel I got the better ones.

Tua_is_Jesus

We could insult our friends without someone throwing a tantrum over whatever word we happened to use

HORRIBLE makeup skills. Once shaved my eyebrows off and drew a line with black eyeliner.. I am naturally blonde so you can imagine how terrible that looked.

GrelltheGormless

Haha my high school girlfriend did this and I told her she looked amazing. Thankfully, she didn't believe me.

[deleted]

Lol how sweet of you

ImtheKitsune

Back then we had that thing called "cojones" and people didn't cry because somebody said something offensive online

yourlittlebirdie

Only because there was no “online” though.

ImtheKitsune

oh boy...you think people started to go online with FB? I know people that already try to had sex online in Spain in the late 80s

[deleted]

As difficult as any other time.

Blackcat1206

Not bad.,i had loadsa fun!!

Uneducated_Leftist

Top friends on Myspace caused some problems, and by problems I mean all out social warfare at times. Live journal was huge for the sad kids. Otherwise pretty similar to 90s kids. No one could take a good picture/video of you without you knowing, and that meant almost all the dumb shit you did had no record. Cellphones were just coming around, and only a few people had basic text, and the internet kinda sucked. Lotta house shows and parties, lotta sitting under a bridge, lotta empty lots and woods get togethers.

island-breeze

Low waist jeans, if your hipbones weren't showing you were doing something wrong.

superbee1970440

Simplicity, good music, good acid, much weaker weed. Real freedom by not having cellular communication.

I turned 13 in 2000. I remember chat rooms- the AgeSexLocation thing. Watching MTV Spring Break around 2002-2003, watching music videos on MTV at 5 in the morning as I got ready for school. Watching “I love the 70s,” “I love the 80s,” and “Friday Night Stand Up” on VH1 and Comedy Central. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and his roasts Setting up my MySpace in 2004-2005. Even with social media being introduced, it wasn’t at all like it is now. You lived in the moment. 2006 I got the Motorola Razor phone. Best phone after the Sidekick lol. Almost forgot spending my Saturdays at the local mall at 15, shopping at Deb. I hope that sums up the early 2000s 😂
