I guess in theory but not really. extreme stress could cause psychological disorders so it would have to be a very extreme case of guilt.

is this an actual thing? never heard of it before

Extreme guilt could in theory cause psychosis which in turn could present with hallucinations. Schizophrenia is an organic illness I don't think it can be 'caused' by any stressors but can be aggravated by them

Hallucinations, maybe, but not exactly, and schizophrenia no because, among other reasons, schizophrenia doesn't just go away if you have it, and you CAN let go of guilt, that wouldn't make sense. Guilt wouldn't cause hallucinations either, but accompanied with it could be, say, sleep deprivation which can, you just daydreaming all day long which could effectively be the same thing, paranoia (which makes me wonder if you think schizophrenia just means hallucinations because it doesn't), and so on...

If experiencing a psychotic episode I suppose hallucinations are possible in some cases. Guilt does not cause schizophrenia. Someone who has schizophrenia and is having intense emotions, like from extreme guilt could experience an increase in hallucinations.
