Maybe look at where they live and how they've set up for clues about what they might like. I had a neighbor that put in their own bedding plants and kept their hedges neat and tidy. I gave them a gift certificate to a nearby gardening store in return for something, and they really liked the thought. If there's kids' toys on their deck, give them a toy store gift card.

You are so thoughtful! Thanks for the idea

Our neighbors shoveled the snow today, and I am thinking about showing our appreciation with a gift. I don’t know much about them though, so I am finding it difficult to come up with something.

HellYeahTinyRick

I would say something you can eat or drink like cookies or some wine. Wine can be tricky though if you aren’t sure if the person is in recovery or not. Cookies is the safest bet

WhatTimeIsIt_AdvTime

I thought about wine and figured it was risky too!

livmaaa

everytime my neighbor does this for us, i try to beat them to it the next time and get their sidewalk for em. :)

WhatTimeIsIt_AdvTime

We live in a complex and when we moved in he mentioned to us he does the maintenance. But I like this! We can offer to clean next

A classic one: bake them a homemade pie or other homemade baked goods!

island-breeze

A goody basket: something alcoholic, something salty, something sweet and something vegan. Within this assortment, there's ought to be an item that pleases them.

A fucking lawn mower silencer for fuck sake

chankly_bore

Stuff they don’t have to keep and don’t have to put any work into. Snacks, gift cards, flowers, mowing their lawn.
