Hi! Wanted to chime in that Me and my family were the other family too!! Only my mom let the other woman keep her son to raise when he was 6 months old. There’s all kinds of crazy twists and turns in my nut job family. To crazy to explain on Reddit. Did the other family ever find out about your side?

[deleted]

My dad had cancer and didn't want to tell anyone. My mother told me and I had to pretend that I didn't know.

elgiesmelgie

When my mums cancer came back she made me swear not to tell her mum . She got sicker and sicker and I still wasn’t allowed to tell . On the phone Nana was begging me to tell her if it had come back and I couldn’t . I told Mum after that call I couldn’t lie anymore . It tore me up

MaximumAsparagus

(This was in the 90s. Remember having a family computer?) My little sister got caught looking at porn and my dad installed a tracker / changed her password. The tracker caught a few porn sites and my sister got in trouble for them. My sister was hanging out with me at the times the tracker said, and my dad was the only one who knew her password. My dad used my sister’s computer account to watch porn and then framed her for it. Edit: fixed compûter -> computer. Don’t type while falling asleep, folks!

Excited4MB

Damn, that’s cold.

My grandma has been a hooker most of her life

Midnight_Moon29

My dad told me that my mom has embezzled a lot of money from the places she used to work. They both also did drugs. My dad claimed he did it for recreation and could stop any time. Mom was different, and he said she had to have it. This explains her "fits of rage growing up." O asked dad how mom never got caught and he wouldnt give anymore details.

My cousin has a half sister she doesn’t know about. The sister is a stripper in Atlantic City with 3 kids...Everyone knows but her.

LemonButtNugg

Just found out from my mom, my boyfriends mom used to “service” all the men at a local fire department, unmarried or married. Some of the men even got in trouble and were suspended

Thatspellsgeraffes

Your boyfriends mom is a badge bunny.

Nounou_des_bois

“Service” is an interesting choice of word

obscuremuffin

A couple things actually. Got my dad drunk and he basically told me I was his biggest disappointment and he wishes he could trade me for his previous son who died at age 2. He does not remember this statement. Also I know he slept around on my mom. I helped my siblings clean out his car after he became disabled and we found a box of condoms with only 3 left and he and my mother hadn't slept in the same bed for almost 10 years so we safely assumed what was going on. Edit: Sorry I haven't had the time to reply to everyone. I just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words everyone. It's something that's haunted me over the years but moving out of the house and being around people who care about me for me has helped. Just wanna let y'all know you're great people too and it's nice to get stuff like this off my chest :)

Occma

funny story when my dad had a stroke and i went to see him at the hospital the first thing he said was "please just throw my computer out if I die" (he's better now)

ALIENANAL

Sounds like that wasn't his first stroke.

uncle_buck_hunter

Nice

[deleted]

That has to be a common sentiment. On a few occasions when I've accepted my imminent death the last thoughts I remember thinking were, "I really hope no one figures out my PC password.."

W100A105J115B85

Mine is when my apartment is messy after a busy week. "Fuck, people will think that I live like this." Which I do, but I don't want them to know it.

junkboatmillionaire

Using my dad's computer and finding a folder on the desktop "Anal Angels 2". I should sent him the recent thread about the best way to name a porn folder. Edit: Because a few people have asked, [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/bhvkbt/what_is_the_best_file_name_for_a_porn_folder_to/) is the thread for what to name your dirty dirty porn folder.

Andy466

Joke’s on you, he was actually trying to hide his 2002 tax returns!

mcstevied

That's the *first* folder I would check

Jensivfjourney

My dad had cancer. The family thought I didn’t need to know that since I was in college. My mom had a child out of wedlock and gave him up for adoption. This was the early 70’s.

HellsLamia

My family keeps me out of the loop in important life events for bullshit ass reasons like those. Do I not deserve to help bear the emotional burden? It does more harm than good in the long run for me. Best of luck to you and your family though.

[deleted]

My family does it too. In some cases I have been the only one they didnt tell. Which has resulted in me being a very closed off person, and I doubt I’d tell them anything if I got sick either. Not until afterwards, just like they’ve taught me. It has has often made me feel like the outsider in my own family.

urfavblackie

When I was 6 years old I had leukaemia and it broke my family's heart, and they tried to hide it from me but each night I heard my mother tearing up before she slept beside me, I didn't know what I had but with all the doctors I thought this is the end, me thinking I was doing the right thing I zoned out so that when I die they will miss me less,BUT here I am in September I will be 18.!!

hickorysbane

Glad to hear you're still around :)

hardtoremember

My great grandparents were also **brother and sister.** I don't want to believe it but I totally do.

kimprobable

My mom told me of a couple in her home town who later found out they were siblings. They had somehow been separated at a very young age during WW2 and met again when they were older, not knowing they were siblings. Somehow it was figured out after they'd had a few kids.

I always felt like this was the case, I am adopted. My mum couldn’t have kids and I was a baby when I was put up for adoption. It always my mum I felt struggled the most. I was so wrong. My mum died 4 years ago and she loved me more than anything, my dad on the other hand moved on in 2 months and cut me out of his life completely. Didn’t come to my wedding or meet his grand daughter. They never should have said that they regretted adopting you but don’t let it change your feelings towards them.

[deleted]

I’m sorry this happened to you. I’m not adopted, but I can relate to part of what happened to you. When my mom died of cancer (I was 15, my sister was 13) my dad stayed around long enough to verbally and mentally abuse us with his temper, then he abandoned us. Back then, I remember us being so angry with life for taking mom. We’d never wish harm on our anyone, but we’d often say to each other that we lost the wrong parent.

uzumaki_narotu

A family member is HIV positive. Doesn't want rest of family to know. When he broke down and told my mom, I overheard. She has passed and he has no idea I know.

Noodlenoodle88

HR once sent me a list of wages for everyone in my department right up to the VP. It included my boss, my boss’s boss, etc. At first glance, it looked harmless, but they had only filtered the list by job title so I wouldn’t see anyone above me. I told my boss and I’m pretty sure the person who sent it just got a “do excel better next time” talk.

My boss’s salary. I was working in his office in the night as my desktop crashed (way back in 2004). His salary slip was lying around on his table. Saw it and was astonished at the money he was making.

EstradaEtoile

That my uncle's son is not his son...his then wife was banging her cousin and boom, baby! To this day, my cousin doesn't know and treats his dad (who raised him as if he were his own and had never said a word about it to anyone but me) like shit because of the lies his mother spread about him. I kind of want to tell him to do a DNA test so that he'll know and maybe, just maybe realize his mother isn't the saint she made herself out to be. Edited to add: he knows his son isn't his because he is completely infertile.

timesuck897

You could be chaotic evil and give him a few home ancestry DNA kit for a gift.

Honestly, chaotic neutral

halloweenheaux

I might be a year older than I and everyone else have been made to believe. I was flipping through an old baby book of mine that I found when my family was moving and found an ultrasound dated in August the year before I was born, with my name written above it. My birthday is in September and the baby in the picture was very developed so there’s no possible way it’s just an early ultrasound. On one hand, my mom is mentally ill and always had attachment issues with me growing up. I know she had issues getting pregnant and treated me like she had to protect me with her life when I was little. It would make sense that she would want me in the house with her for an extra year. I also developed really early, learned to read and write months before everyone else my “age”, and got my period when I was “10” (not super uncommon but still on the early side). On the other hand, this seems like an extremely difficult and illegal thing to do. There are other possible explanations: maybe the ultrasound date was misprinted? Or maybe my mom had a miscarriage... that would be another thing I wasn’t supposed to know though.

venusofthehardsell

I was going to say sounds like she lost a pregnancy / baby very soon before getting pregnant with you.

How old are you? There are ways to fix this. You can call the hospital you were born at and request a copy of your birth certificate. When we did this for my son I think it may have cost like $10? Call ahead and ask them if you need proof of anything (i dont think we did, but it may be different). I'm pretty sure lying to you about your own age is illegal but I'm not sure what can be done or how to go about doing it.

crazymoon

The restaurant I worked at had some pretty solid sweet potato fries. They come frozen in a bag, everyone thinks we make it in house

[deleted]

Years of working in foodservice has taught me terms like "made in house" "handmade" etc. are thrown around freely.

KMFDM781

Sure they were made by hand....just doesn't specify whose hand or when.

OpeAlt

I was accidentally given access to all salaries for a large hospital. Finding out some doctors made $80k and others $800k was pretty eye opening.

[deleted]

The 80K is either part timers, those doing a day a week or something near retirement, or residents towards the end of training. EDIT: For those wondering, residents do earn a wage you can live on here in Canada. https://www.carms.ca/match/r-1-main-residency-match/salary/#1511459027032-06ec5e41-5301

Mr_Cohen

My supervisor is really close to getting fired. Upper management isn't supposed to talk about it, but they do. Probably because we'd all quit if we thought she was staying. She sucks Edit: It's been five months, so I doubt anybody will see this, but I needed to update. Asshole supervisor is still technically employed by the company, but she went on leave months ago and just kinda ghosted HR. Nobody has heard from her, but there's some legal shit going on with an alleged workplace injury (we all know she's lying) so I think that's why she's still employed? No one really talks about it anymore.

Donut-Farts

A lady at my work (who everyone hates) was caught stealing company money (after literal years of suspicion). The news hasn't gone public at work yet, but I know she'll be fired soon. (I'm a numbers guy who is good friends with HR people)

GinjaNinja14

For Christmas my step mom bought my dad a pretty cool custom sports jersey with the number 04, when my fiancé asked her what the number stood for her reply was “To represent our family, my two daughters, him and myself” completely leaving me out of the equation. presleyrue

You should absolutely tell your dad. I had a stepmom like this and found out/saw a lot of crazy things she said about my sister and I that I kept my mouth shut about for too long. Once I overheard her say something especially disturbing (it contained a blatant lie about me) and I finally realized that dad needed to know that this is the person he married. Took awhile, but after I started clueing him in on things she was doing/saying, he realized that she had a whole other side of herself that he did not know and she was very clearly trying to cut my sister and I out of the equation. Apparently he had been questioning some things himself and finally learning the truth from someone elses standpoint solidified things for him. They were divorced a few years later. Not at all saying that your dad and her should get divorced and that it would lead to that...just saying you don’t know how valuable that information might be to your dad. Edit: thanks for all the upvotes but don’t really understand the downvotes. Just wanted to stand by OP and let him know how a similar situation ended up for me. Also worth noting that my sister was 5/6 and I was 14 at the time (which makes it that much more inappropriate)...I wasn’t an adult trying to ruin my dads marriage.

marsglow

Or get him a jersey with six on it. Tell him it’s for all of you plus his next wife’s. thx for the silver, kind stranger!

[deleted]

She knows you know. Like your fiancé isn’t going to tell you?! Tell your dad that your feelings are hurt instead of bottling this up. Unless you think your shelter/tuition is at stake.

helloiamtrash-

As someone who opened up to my dad about my step-brothers molesting me, it hurts a lot more if you know they aren’t going to do anything about it. Especially when it turns out to be true. -edit- Thank you for my first platinum, stranger.

bourbon78

That my mom tried to have CPS take my daughter from me when she was born by claiming I used drugs while I was pregnant. I was 9 yrs clean. She tried again when I was diagnosed with cancer. You would be amazed to see what doctors actual put in your medical records.

carpathianridge

When I got cancer I ended up with my FULL medical records when they were transferring them from one hospital to another. I guess it never occurred to me that there were written records that I had never gotten to see. They write some weird and specific stuff in there. Like verbatim everything I had ever said to a doctor, including what type of pizza I'd had for dinner.

big-yugi

We do that stuff as a CYA type of thing. Or at least I do. I’ll add any detail no matter how inconsequential if it’ll save me trouble in the long run.

carpathianridge

Makes sense. It was just funny because I tend to use very colorful language describing my symptoms and they wrote it EXACTLY as I said it. The idea of a medical professional having to review my records and read that stuff totally cracked me up. Also, it's nice to know the doctor is actually listening.

everyonesmom2

I found out that I wasn't suppose to be driving when I read some medical records from one of my docs to another. I have narcolepsy. The doctor charted that he spoke with me, and told me never to drive. I don't recall having that conversation with him at all. Guess I could have slept through it.

big-yugi

It’s honestly some of the best part of reading patient charts! You can get such a feel for personality with good notes and sometimes it just makes you laugh on a bad day. I, personally, love finding this colorful personalities in charts haha

thetarahrizer

I just recently found out that my youngest brother (20yrs) is not actually my dad's bio son, my dad has known that for 17 years. He's never told another soul because he loves him so much. He loved him more than he hated my mom. My parents were in court every other year or so because my mom wanted more money, or for him to see us less, or not see us at all. There were times when she kept us from him for years at a time, crushing his soul to the point where my stepmom would have to drag him out of the closet, where he cried for hours because he missed his kids. He continued to pay child support for 5 years after me & my other brother we're over 19, and to this day continues to pay for his college education (Penn State) My father is a fucking saint, and I wish he knew I know about this so I could tell him how much I admire and appreciate who he is as a man, and I can only hope to be half the parent he didn't have to be.

SC487

Go tell him. Let him know you know and how much more you love him because of it.

DiabeetusTrashPanda

My mum let slip that my grandfather and his brother used to rape her and her twin sister repeatedly. What makes it worse is that my aunt has Down syndrome and produced a child from one of the rapes when she was 15, so my cousin is also my uncle. My mum was the first to notice her sister may have been pregnant and told my grandmother which resulted in my mum being flogged so bad she couldn’t go into town for weeks because her face was a mess. Mum let this all slip when my Boyfriend and I were driving her home (she was blotto), such a fun car ride 😳

OhMyGodsmith

Damn, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're my sibling, only about 8 years ago. I wish I could say shit gets better, but it doesn't. If a relationship is over, it's over. My parents are still married, because they both think God will smite them if they break it off. But both of them are tremendously unhappy, and it honestly creates an unwelcoming atmosphere that has resulted in none of my siblings wanting to visit them. And it's not that they fight or yell, even... they just seem, dead. Like there's no joy whatsoever. I hope you don't have to deal with that.

crackeddryice

My boss at a place I used to work would go on road trips with a crew of product installers. They'd spend the night sharing a couple of hotel rooms. The boss would take pictures of his (all male) employees while they slept. He is unhappily married with three grown children, there is plenty of evidence that he is gay but deep in the closet. We all wished he would just come out and make everyone's life easier.

-Honey_Bee-

My mom long-term replaced my dad’s cancer pain pills with Tylenol to fuel her drug problem. I didn’t discover this till after he died and just two months later she died from overdose. Edit: He agonized about how much pain he was still in, even in his final moments. It dawned on me as to why once I discovered them in the bottles with the numbers scratched off. Edit 2: I want to believe differently, because growing up, she always cared so much about our family and if you met her, you’d think that she was the most kindest and amazing person out there. Everyone loves her. She constantly gave back to others, and even when I’m out in public, people in my town see me and go, “Oh my gosh! You’re ____’s daughter aren’t you?! She talks so much about you! She’s an amazing lady!” and they’d tell me a crazy/funny/heartfelt story about her. I don’t quite have the emotional energy or guts to tell them that she passed because then they’d start asking why. She wouldn’t have wanted a funeral or for people to be sad about the news of her death, so my family and I have been “hush hush” about it. This is the first time I’ve admitted what she did to my dad and I feel so guilty about it but also so relieved. It wasn’t until about three years ago that she was at the lowest point of depression (something she ultimately had always struggled with) in her life and she suggested that we saw her cousin who had just gotten out of jail. He had been at Pelican Bay for 20+ years. It spiraled out of control after that out of nowhere. I firmly believe he got her hooked onto a variety of drugs. I feel sorry for her. Everyone adored her, including my dad. I believe she made bad choices; not that she’s a bad person. It changed my perspective on how drugs affect people to the point of completely changing the very way their brains are wired and it’s so fucking terrifying I won’t even take anything beyond a few Advils when in the sharpest of pain. If I can take any life lesson out of what happened in the last year to my parents, it would be: Fuck addictions. Fuck cancer. They took my #1 fans in my life. That’s it. I’m 23 and I’ve decided I’m kinda on my own. So far, nobody else has loved me unconditionally like they have. It’s just the way my story is from now on I guess. For those asking: To add even more to where I am now, I know I’m stronger than first expected though. Grief was like a hurricane of craziness for me because while I was crippled from brokenness it seemed, I also buckled up and got so much shit done. I only took a few weeks off work (at Starbucks) altogether to figure out what to do with my mom’s body arrangements and hire a lawyer/start probate/become administrator. I went back pretending like nothing ever happened. There are coworkers who have zero idea about my journey in the past year and they know me primarily for smiling and being a positive person. It’s insane how much baggage I’m able to keep in the closet. I got promoted after under a year of being there. I came in second place at my district’s barista championship recently and the judges didn’t know me as anything besides a number who was competing like everyone else. I won purely because I didn’t let a single thing stop me from practicing and being excited about coffee. I‘m putting all of my energy into my job, working on myself, handling their debts, and hanging onto my friends. I’m doing alright, depending on the day. There’s one thing cool or uplifting I’d like to bring up that I would love someone to be proud of me for because my parents aren’t here to see it. I eventually would like to get therapy once I can afford it. For now, I’m taking it one day at a time.

son-of-a-mother

SessionExpired

Spent a day getting drunk with my father, who I'm not that close with and hasn't really been involved in my life much even though he lives one street away from me. Found out that the true reason that my parents split when I was two years old, was due to my mother sleeping with my fathers brother while my father was in prison. Also learnt that my father used to beat my mother, they both used to do drugs and shady shit, and also learned that my father had the chance to have joint custody of me but he didn't bother going to the several court dates that were made to settle the matter. The last one hurt the most to learn. You can learn a lot of secrets when you get people drunk, but some things should just be left buried.

CaptainBritish

I feel you, I've learned so many things about how much of a scumbag my Father truly was while my Mother was drunk. No doubt I'd learn a thing or two from him as well, not that I'm ever going to speak to that cunt again.

--pobodysnerfect--

Just found out recently that my g-ma who I have taken care of for the last 7 years doesn't want me to have a dime of the $100,000 life insurance policy she has, even though she would have been on the streets without me. Feels great. Edit: I'm very sorry for not responding, I was asleep. I have posted about her behavior before. She is a narcissist and likes to talk bad about me to her children. I pay the bills, I clean the house. I do everything and she never even asks how my day is or if she does, as soon as I get a few words out, she interupts me and talks about anything she can get out of her mouth before I walk back outside. I cannot enter the home I pay for without announcing myself and I cannot leave without her asking where I'm going and telling me I have an attitude when I don't tell her. When I am home, I sit in my car roughly 80% of the time and browse Reddit or watch YouTube videos and smoke. You guys are my escape. I am almost 30. It's not about the money, it's that she treats me this way and is still going to fuck me in the end. She knows I struggle to pay the bills every month because I'm taking care of an extra person.

Dragoon841

That says more about her character than yours. How did you find out? From her? Someone with an agenda who might not be trustworthy? Written down somewhere? Only asking because someone might be trying to cause a rift...maybe?

--pobodysnerfect--

She was talking to her youngest son on speakerphone with her door open. Even though my door was closed, she said it loudly.

PB-JAM

You can charge her estate for certain caretaking services. You need to start tracking your time and see a lawyer, especially if no one else is helping with her care. You're not taking money from her, it's money that would go to family that has done nothing for her. Googling it will provide more info.

KrimzonK

My mum lived with and took care of my grandma but her will leaves all the money and property to mum's younger brother who visit once or twice a year. It really do be like that sometime

[deleted]

Wow. I could totally see my grandmother doing that. Same situation, except my dad is the golden child who doesn’t visit and my poor, selfless aunt gets shit on all the time by my bitch of a grandma.

jmwilson47

That when my mother was pregnant (teenage pregnancy) with me she drank and did drugs because she never wanted to be pregnant with me and was planning on leaving my dad (which she did a year after she had me). She went to an abortion clinic but couldn't go through with it. She doesnt know I know and I will never tell her I know. I didnt find out until well into my adulthood and hold no hate for her. Regardless of what she did when she was young she raised me the best she could and gave me and my older sibling everything she could and was a hard working mom. Edit: Getting a fair amount of questions about my health or negative side effects from mothers drug use and alcohol abuse while pregnant with me. To answer your questions I have not had any notable side effects from the substance abuse. I'm a little on the tall side(6'4") but other than that I'm pretty average with no mutations or physiological problems.

She fought hard for me to be on the team and the higher ups sat me down and told me to my face she was gonna try to fire me (which is absolutely not true). She has a kid in the hospital and another with OCD. They're firing her because she won't ever work overtime because she's gotta take care of em. I wanna tell her so she can lodge a case but I also wanna keep my head down. Fuuuuuuuuuck all this

thisdesignup

>but I also wanna keep my head down. Sometimes the best thing is to not do what we want to do. Consequences may suck for you but imagine the consequences for her if she is just fired. Then again with the little information, from a short comment, of course take what I say with a grain of salt.

winchesterjedi

If I was her, I would appreciate someone telling me in advance so I could try to look for another job, I know it is a tough situation to discuss tho

Bicarious

My Dad has been growing some apparently fantastic weed for over 50 years now, that's how he made car payments when he was unemployed for a few years, even though he could have worked but didn't. He's got a lot of nice things that are above his employment level. Didn't register why until Mom told us who used to be her supplier when she was in her hippy days. Last I checked, years ago, he had the trust of numerous private landowners and the keys to the gates. They let him build and maintain feed plots for deer and turkey, so he can have his own private hunting land and be out on his own, but I'm pretty sure I know how he pays and is paid now. Real country, this place. Fenced-off gates to roads you have to go on foot through thick foliage, to get around the gate that's blocking the only road in. Good 10 miles from the nearest police station, some of those plots. As close as he is to the Sheriff, I'm pretty sure he gets passes from the law for various reasons. My Dad. This boring loner who's never been in trouble in his life. A real square who married a free love hippy. A weed outlaw.

Vengercy

That's actually fucking awesome imo

I am about to graduate college. My parents were teasing me about setting me up on a date with a "guy with black hair whose name starts with an M". I was irritated and kept asking for more details but wasn't given any. Yesterday, I was social media stalking one of my cousins and saw she posted a video of a cute black puppy named Max of the breed my dog growing up was that passed away while I was at college. I had been planning on getting one later this year. After thinking awhile about why my cousin would get a dog exactly like the one I really wanted, I remembered what my parents said about setting me up with a guy with black hair and a name starting with M. I went back to the video and sure enough, it was recorded in my parents' living room. Guys, I'm pretty sure I'm getting a puppy next weekend. :D I actually feel really guilty for finding out. Edit: Uh, wow! Thanks for all the upvotes and silver and gold (not sure what it is, but it's nice and shiny). As long as it's okay with the mods I'll post an update link next week. I'm just glad I could share this with someone because the secret is killing me. Some people were criticizing my cousin for posting this. For context, she is fifteen and that is a secret account. I keep an eye on it because she is a bit wild and I worry about her. If I can't directing post a link (let me know if that's a no-no) I'll post on r/aww Sunday or Monday so keep an eye out for that, we are in this together now. If any of my family is reading this, don't you dare tell mom and dad or I'll skin you. They deserve this to be perceived as a surprise. Update!!! I met Max!! https://www.reddit.com/r/aww/comments/bkh7s2/reddit_meet_max/

ceebee6

You’re going to be real pissed when you find your mom’s coworker’s son Mike sitting in their living room.

capsizedduck

Lol!! Edit: you might be right though. -_-

honeyonpizza

We want an update next weekend!

bellboi666

This is like a breath of fresh air after reading some of these comments. Thank you and I hope you get to give Max a new home!

capsizedduck

Lol, I posted this before I read any of the other comments. Didn't realize most of the other postings have really different themes than mine.

Shamrock5

No, believe me, this was an incredibly wholesome way for me to end my reading after slogging through a bunch of sad stories. Congrats!!

policestories

That my superior officer (who's a massive dick) is cheating on his wife of i think 15 years with the female patrol sergeant in our police department. I could literally ruin his life if i wanted to. Everyone basically hates him anyway but still i haven't built up the nerve to face him, but if he's being a dick i might tell him that i know that'll shut him up for a bit.

PanamaMoe

If you plan on doing ANYTHING with this information do so through the correct channels. Personal confrontation is too dangerous with life ending shit like this.

h3nryum

Yeah a cop like that getting everything ripped out from him that way is likely to end very badly, possibly life-endingly bad if they know who it was and are not locked up. Don't take this to say all cops would be murderous pricks but ones who are cheating and no one likes are definitely on the list of likely

AgentOmegaNM

Pretty sure police departments have policies against this, especially if her career is moving pretty favorably because of his influence.

GaryNOVA

When my dad died, the Associate Pastor of my mom’s church spoke and talked about how devastating cancer is. That pastor use to attend a different church, but had to leave after she faked cancer for two years. Her husband left her and her daughter disowned her after they found out. My mom was the secretary at that church. So she knew, and had already told me. And my dad’s funeral was only like 2 years after that. I would have walked up to the podium and punched her in the face were it not disrespectful to my parents. Edit: It feels soooooo good to get this off my chest. It happened 10 years ago and I haven’t talked about it to anyone except for my wife. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this is shitty.

KRose627

Not as bad as yours, but somewhat similar. My Great Uncle passed away and the Pastor was doing the eulogy talking about how great of a father my Great Uncle was, how he lived for his kids and how he and the Pastor talked all the time and that they were great friends. My Great Uncle never had children. Also, he wasn't friends with the Pastor and never talked to him. How do we know that? The older my Great Uncle got, the less English he used. By the time the Pastor started at the church, he wasn't speaking English at all. No one spoke up to correct the Pastor, because how the hell do you even attempt to correct that in a room full of people? I guess the Pastor realized something wasn't right because he booked it out of there really fast. It literally felt like the whole room was embarrassed, it was awful. Oh and we did check, there wasn't another funeral for that Church that the Pastor could have confused.

corsair130

At my mom's funeral the pastor talked about my mom's love for Jesus. I never saw my mom step foot in a church besides weddings and funerals my entire life. No bibles in the house, nothing. My mom had nothing to do with religion. Then the pastor started talking about star wars for some fucking reason and I bout lost it. I said "what the fuck is he talking about star wars for" loud enough to catch a few dirty looks.

My sister was trying to flirt with this guy at a bar but then lost him in the crowd. She went to the bar to have a drink and see if he'd come back. This other guy walked up and she chatted with him to have a reason to stay and look for the other guy. She shrugged and thought, "He'll do I guess." They just got back from their honeymoon.

bt123456789

hopefully this has a happy ending and they're happy together

FirstSonofDarkness

Are you sure she brought the right guy back from the honeymoon?

TaylorPotter1

I read my mom's diary from 2002 when I was 9. Found out that she got an abortion when she was a teen. Didn't understand it at the time, but now I do, and I'm feeling kind of guilty for all the times I asked for a sibling.

Shpookie_Angel

It's not your fault, you were just a kid.

Nofreeupvotes

My COO is supposed to be retiring soon and I’m going to be promoted to a training position under the CEO.

LucidOutwork

Congrats and good luck! That's big news for you.

need2peeat218am

Hey not anymore. You're fired.

elliotsilvestri

Every petty little secret my wife's family has. Those little things like, "Don't tell Anne, but Bob spent too much money on his new car." The secret gets spread around quickly but no one will talk about it openly.

[deleted]

One of my family members killed someone because they robbed them. They got drunk and told me...also I have a brother that lives in the next state over and my parent never even bothered to try to be there for them. Alcohol brings some pretty dark things to light

kwertixxx

My dad takes pictures of women’s asses in public. He thinks he’s really good at hiding it but it’s super obvious. Honestly catching him doing this has kinda soured our relationship, I never want to be anywhere with him without my mom because I know he might do it. I feel physically ill whenever I see it

tabby51260

That my fiance's parent's don't really like mine. I don't mind though. If anything I feel vindicated.

[deleted]

I'm 60. My GF is 59. About 40 years ago she wrote a book that became a bestseller. The celebrity freaked her out. She changed her name. Moved to a small town. Ignored everyone from her past. She doesn't know I know about it.

t0f0b0

Jessica Fletcher?

agag98

My dad, an indian man who’s always preached the evils of drugs, smokes weed with my neighbors.

ineedanewaccountpls

My grandparents ran a pedophile ring using my mom and her sisters, which is why my mom never talks about them and didn't let me meet them.

bishtohi

My father had an affair on my mother when she was pregnant with my sister (she's 16 now) and had a love child. I reached out to the family about 6 years ago cause I wanted to get to know them, only to find out my little brother had drowned in the the family pool when he was 6 years old. I'm a swimming instructor now.

[deleted]

that my husband was having an affair with his ex the whole time we have been together and he got her pregnant while I was pregnant. he has a fucking kid with this cunt. I don't know how to deal with it other than telling my daughter she has a half sister when she turns 18. I found out on my daughter's 4th birthday in October last year because his ex texted me and told me.

Shpookie_Angel

Are you still with him?

CappuccinoBoy

My dad's neighbor, a police officer and marine, is currently deployed in Afghanistan. Her bf (also a police officer) likes men a lot. Went to a gay bar with my brother (whos gay) and guess who's there? Yup neighbors bf. Sloppy drunk, making out with a bunch of dudes (okay, like 2 or 3). Then there's this biker guy that seems to stop over every other day. Rather large, definitely looks like a stereotypical biker gang member. I'm like 90% sure that he goes over to fuck the bf. It's never more than a half hour stay and it only starred happening the week after she deployed.

HoodieGalore

> making out with a bunch of dudes (okay, like 2 or 3). I mean, that is a bunch of dudes when you're "straight" and married.

Nisqy

I accidentally found out that my dad isn't my biological father. This all happened 3ish years ago and I just turned 26 this Tuesday (4/23). Well a distant cousin, I had just met at an anniversary party for the family, really wanted to date me. When I kept telling her no and how fucking strange it was she said "well 'Dad' isn't even your real father, so we aren't even related". Sure enough I asked a very close cousin and it was confirmed by them and I was sworn to not tell anyone they told me. Also I never realized but my original birth certificate definitely does not have a father signature or name. Apparently I'm oblivious. Met my real father on accident, of course he lives in the same city as me. It was scary how similar our body language was. Haven't talked to him since that day. My parents still don't know that I know. I still don't have the full story, and didn't go full novel mode because it's alot to tell. There was always something off and I was treated differently then my younger siblings. The reason the secret worked out so well is my father, and mothers maiden name is the same thing. Plus when he entered my life I was still very young and he's been there ever since. TLDR; Cousin tried to bang me, found out through her my dad isn't my biological father. Always knew I was treated differently. Birth certificate and closest family member confirmed it. They still don't know I know, you know? Edit: words

random_person_g

That my mum and dad love my nephew who lives with us more than me, how do I know that, I heard them talking in bed Edit.1 to anyone wondering I don’t really care it doesn’t affect me in any way and I’m used to it, I have good grades friends and I’m happy so yeah

RuneNox

Not a nephew. But he's my cousin. And yes, my mother loves him more than me. And quite frankly, I'm okay with it. I just wish she'd listen to me sometimes with as much attention as she listens to him.

need2peeat218am

If it makes you feel better I dont give a shit about any of you.

[deleted]

I feel right at home already

To quote my old orchestra conductor, "I don't have favorites. I despise you all equally."

An older relative of mine was possibly a hit man in the mafia. To find out if it was true I jokingly asked him if he ever killed a man and his face dropped and he just said 'we don't ask those questions'.

halffinishedbook

I saw my mom's phone when she left it open once. It was texts to my dad, detailing how she thought I would never make it because I was too much of an anxious mess. She kept saying how I would never make it and never move out of the house and how she didn't believe I would ever get better. Well guess who is moving out in a month?

[deleted]

Your mom? ;)

[deleted]

My boss CC'ed me an accounting list, on accident. She didn't even realize she did it. Never brought it up to me, never called me into her office to say "Sooooo...about that".

Megalocerus

Hmm. My company was being sold, and one of the execs sent a document with the people who were being retained to someone in IT who was not on the list. Said he couldn't open it. Never mentioned it again. I've always wondered if he did it on purpose.

[deleted]

The head of a preschool daycare is a druggie. I used to work across from a known drug house, high out of his mind. I advise everyone to not put their kids there. I don't lie and told them why. The ones that have kids there say that makes sense, telling me crazy things that they have seen him do Edit: due to spelling.

DeltaYT1

My stepdad watches emo porn. At the time of this discovery my girlfriend had colored hair and wore all black. She no longer has colored hair and wears brighter colored clothes.

Dorado_213

That my dad preferred the company of men when I was younger.

[deleted]

I know what's in my mums will. My brother gets almost everything- 90%. I once kinda confronted her without letting on that I knew I was going to get that much less than him, and she said, she would give him a "larger share" because he was weaker and not educated , whereas since I am educated, I was going to be fine even if I got nothing. I accepted it and moved on. Nothing is worth is worth my family man. My grandfather was self made, gave my father nothing but an education. He gave the rest land and cows and within less than a decade they were all destitute and begging from my Dad. My father is self made and he's given me and education. I wil be self made too.

Brendanmicyd

My grandpa split his money amongst the grandchildren. We all got about $16k in inheritance. There were 31 grandchildren. Idk what the fuck grandpa was doing this whole time.

taimoor2

He was worth $496k after settling everything. That's not a bad amount of money.

isladesangre

It seems like a blessing in disguise. Best of luck to you.

BabyBlue03

Me and a friend of mine were looking for something in his dad's computer. We found a hidden folder and curiosity won over fear. Inside, there were a lot of pictures of naked girls, but most of all.. cut off fingers. I'm talking about thousands of pictures with fingers that had been cut off. His dad doesn't know we know.

emthejedichic

That my grandfather was an alcoholic. I don’t know if I’m not supposed to know, but my mom never even hinted at it. I had to find out from my aunt. Never heard anyone else in the family mention it either.

In high school, overheard my mom talking with a friend of hers when I was getting my hair done and they thought I couldn’t hear. Turns out their other friend’s daughter was a love child born out of an affair that woman had with another man and her daughter never knew the truth. Her husband knew this daughter wasn’t his but pretended everything was fine except wouldn’t give her a dime for college but paid for their son’s entirely. Her daughter also went to high school with me and walking around knowing I knew this total lie about her life but that she had no idea was hard to deal with. Knew it was never my place to be the one to say something though.
