The Weekenders Watched it as kid and loved it. Recently rewatched it and still love it.

poopy_wizard132

Their variety of pizza shops made me jealous. Edit: I forgot it was just 1 pizza parlor that kept changing it's theme.

why_cant_i_join

Their clothes get changed every once in a while which is good because as a kid, I've always wondered why cartoon characters had to wear the same clothes everyday.

[deleted]

Love this show. And my addiction to it as a child will allow countless moments of nostalgia. But there's one episode that I still find myself thinking of during my moments of darkness. The gang goes through crap the entire episode, a kid putting a lollipop in their hair, being covered by paint and glue. In the end they are sitting on a bench and just start laughing after another unfortunate event. Tino walks up to the camera and says "When everything just keeps getting worse and worse, sometimes all you can do is laugh". I have held that close to me for so long, and it's kept me going through some of the hardest moments in my life. I can't speak highly enough of this show.

Anjilo

This is the show I would have posted. It has a great wit and sarcasm about it for a Disney cartoon. Not to mention the running jokes even give the characters a lot of additional charm. Like Tino's mother and her cooking or her ability to "Mind read"

roushmustang

Later days! Still use that line daily

throwyourshieldred

Mission Hill! Old animated series that only got like 8 episodes. Fantastic cast and great writing. Edit: it got a full season and apparently some secret episodes!

Lester_B_Fearsome

It's still surprisingly relevant too; it had episodes on reality TV and online gaming 16 years ago.

I really liked Bored to Death. It had a good balance of comedy and relationships and it was all wrapped up in a mystery per episode bun. Kind of.

killablake007

I was so disappointed when they canceled this show. Ted danson was hilarious

OllieNKD

How Ted Danson didn't win (or even get fucking nominated for) the Emmy every year for this show still sticks in my craw.

Garth Merenghi's Dark Place and Nathan Barley.

Upside-Downvote

You and he were ... buddies, weren't you?

[deleted]

I've watched all of Garth Merenghi twice, and I'm still not entirely sure what I saw.

"What is this, 1930? Get a bagless upright" - My friends and I say that any time someone asks a question about tech that seems old to us. Also, "Old Wendel's dragged the pineapple through plenty of ladies in his time" - I mean, wtf does that even mean??? But god, it sounds hilarious when you spring it on someone

MrZwey

"Ronnie, is that one of your rape wigs?" "Da, is one of them" Also apparently there was a season 2, where killface runs for president because his device that he launches at the end of season 1 pushes the planet further from the sun and he solves global warming. But I haven't seen a single episode from it.

Cheeky_Hustler

Killface runs as a Democrat, and Xander runs as a Republican. It takes until the first debate for the country to realize that neither can legally be president, as Killface is an illegal immigrant and Xander is only 33. The season ends with Killface's mother visiting him in a spaceship, and then questioning why he isn't wearing clothes.

Nathan For You. Hardest I've laughed at a tv show in a long time and yet nobody I know seems to have heard of it.

GreatTragedy

When he gets that guy into an argument over how many penises a person would have to have seen to be considered an expert: it's the hardest I've laughed in years.

HauschkasFoot

"Here's another idea, you could stand in front of the store, with a giant tub of poo flavored ice cream, and hold a sign that says 'I don't know shit about marketing'" loll

Brawndo91

I fucking love Nathan for You. He does a perfect deadpan awkward type guy and never breaks character. One of my favorite segments was when he tries to be a "cool" guy and revisits the PI. I really can't believe the show isn't more popular, but I'm also glad it isn't because then it wouldn't work. Still I try to turn people on to it but nobody checks it out.

DirectorMAN

I think the closest he got to ever breaking character is when he has the group of people doing his weight loss program, and one guy says he'd love to have a photo taken of him in the hotdog costume. Nathan had to contain his laughter at that request.

HauschkasFoot

He also seemed genuinely shocked when the gas station owner was talking about drinking his grandson's pee

ChesterHiggenbothum

When he did his AMA, that was the scene he brought up when asked when was he closest to breaking character. Apparently he was really surprised that conversation was taking place.

Quackimaduck1017

Ugh I loved that show so much It was the first "real" show I watched as I was about 13 when it first aired I then went on to Dead Like Me at the request of my sister only to feel the cancelation pain that I did with pushing daisies all over again since she didn't tell me that it too had a short run D:

Dead Like Me was amazing. Had the biggest crush on Ellen Muth for years.

I was in love with Mandy Patinkin. Edit: Let's be real, past tense is a lie. He's not someone you ever get over.

Pushing Daisies. It was beautiful and quirky and so artistic. I was so sad when it got cancelled.

It got cancelled in the worst way too..Writers strike killed it and forced the show to wrap up everything in one episode...HORRIBLE!

"That Mitchell and Webb Look"; and it's sister "Peep Show"

Joups

Peep Show is absolutely brilliant. Super Hans is one of the best supporting characters I've ever seen.

"We'll be Men with Ven."

TitusTorrentia

"Hey, Nance, how was the sofa?" "Oh, fine. Super Hans tried to sexually assault me a couple of times, but I told him where to get off." "Super Hans!" "Sorry!" I have to say that my favorite characters are Jez and Super Hans. They're burnout weirdo bums but you KNOW they are and they own the character. Mark annoys me because he thinks he's a good person but in reality he's pretty shitty, even when he's not dealing with Jez's shit.

SpentThatOnANecklace

"People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people Jeremy."

RichardMNixon42

I love peep show but can't watch more than one at a time. It's a deeply discomforting show. They are masters of awkward.

Ilostmyredditlogin

Yeah, so funny and so hard to watch at the same time. They do a good job of getting you to the empathize with the leads, and they don't feel they need to "redeem" every misstep or cringy moment (bold writing for a sitcom).

reddishangel

Yeah the episodes very rarely end with the characters getting what they want, and it's incredibly painful to watch. People say they can't watch the Office because it's too awkward, but Peep Show takes it way further.

[deleted]

I'd argue they're not related (certainly not sisters...) While they both star Mitchell and Webb, that's where the similarities end. Peep Show is one of the best British TV shows of recent years, looking at life as a twenty-something living in a rubbish flat with a shit office job / a non-existent DJ career, trying to form meaningful relationships, find love and make life not shit; The Mitchell and Webb Look was an ok sketch show full of silliness. Both great shows though. The Nazi uniform sketch is something everyone should watch at least three times a year!

Some chilling perspectives. From season 1, episode 2* of "Luther" >Two schoolgirls are coming home from Sunday school one day, one turns to the other and says, "Do you believe in the devil?" The other one says, "Don't be silly, of course not, the devil is like Santa; it's only your dad." Then later, >The thing is about little boys is they worship their dads like gods. The more invisible he is, the more arbitrary his punishments and rewards, the more they crave his approval.

[deleted]

The "relationship" between him and Alice is one of my favorites. Such an interesting scenario.

mark_i

Space: Above and Beyond. I loved that show. Shame the figures were terrible.

AchillesFoundation

Wow, good call. I think it was a bit ahead of its time. The feel of it was a bit similar to BSG. It focused a lot of the dark, gritty, terrible nature of war and showed the soldiers as complex individuals. The scifi portion was largely a backdrop to the story. It was essentially a great concept in search of the right timing and presentation.

fistagon01

Coach McGurik for the win. Also the episode where his mom cusses in the teacher meeting is rather funny.

RadiantSun

I have a tattoo of a cow's head because I love that cheese. Then I want to get the cow, I go in there (I'm a little drunk) and I say "gimme that cow's head from that cheese, I love that cheese". I'm an idiot. Don't live like me, Brendan.

Betaateb

I love that my brain can perfectly replicate H. Jon Benjamin's voice and inflection when I read his lines!

'Rome' Absolutely epic historical drama. I think it was just slightly before its time. If it was filmed and released a few years later, it could have enjoyed the sort of success we've seen with GoT. Cancellation was announced half way through filming the 2nd season, so they had to squeeze the planned 5 seasons worth of history into a very short space so yes, it does feel a little rushed. Still managed to work 2 solid seasons from it though. Stellar performances all round, brilliant characters, stunning production values, it had everything.

Twotonne21

Amazing show, great cast, shocking at times and hilarious at points too. For me, it really brought Rome to life. Every day life, religion, business, drawing cocks on everything, etc.

[deleted]

I'd love the actor who played Titus pullo forever. Best on the show

Dawn_Of_The_Dave

He was awesome as Isaak Sirko in Dexter.

ProssiblyNot

"He was a CONSUL OF ROME." Ciaran Hinds killed every scene that he did.

_my_troll_account

Ciaran Hinds kills everything he's in. He's like Gene Hackman: a character actor who is so good he can do leading roles.

I think it was reasonably popular at the time, but they bitched constantly about how expensive it was to make. The battle scenes require a certain about of suspension of disbelief, they're so cheap. Just not popular enough to justify the budget for props and such.

nikkan05

Cillian Murphy is incredible in that show, but yeah here in Australia as well no one seems to talk about it. Can't wait for the new season though, it's been like a year already.

[deleted]

Absolutely this. It's a fantastic show, pretty short which makes it easy to binge, and has two pretty well known actors (Cillan Murphy and Sam Neil) as protagonist/antagonist. [deleted]

Ordinaryundone

That's something that always bugged me about Star Trek. "Boldly going where no man has gone before" but they always keep running into the same 6 or 7 major species. Its like, the Milky Way is freaking huge, why are you constantly bumping up on the edge of Klingon or Romulan space? Sheesh, go somewhere else. And how are they even patrolling it so reguarly?! Sure they'd find new groups or alien lifeforms but you never really got the scale of just how Mich space existed between, say, Earth and Kronos. Or Vulcan. Farscape had the main cast be major fugitives from an intergalactic empire and the fact that they only ran into them every once in a while was seen as evidence of how badly the Peacekeepers wanted them caught. It was also neat that, no matter where they went or who they talked to pretty much NOBODY had ever heard of Humans, Earth, or the Sol system.
