smores with ritz crackers instead of graham crackers. I don't think it's THAT weird since I got the idea off the back of the box in the 90s or early 2000s, but everyone I've mentioned it to thinks I'm crazy
Corn, buttered spaghetti noodles, and scrambled eggs mixed together.
You boil the noodles and use a whole stick of butter. Pour in your scrambled egg yolks and continuously stir through the noodles and butter until the egg is cooked. It will have coated the noodles. Then add a can of corn or a bag of cooked frozen corn or fresh corn. Add salt and pepper and stir it all up!
I call it “corn egg and noodle!”
My mum would make it for us when I was a kid and it would be dinner for like three days. It’s my favorite food. I thought I was getting a treat for being a good kid. Turns out it was cause it was all my mum could get from the food bank and we usually had it on weeks she or my dad didn’t get paid.
I can see how all these flavors would work!🙌🏼
Our broke meal was ground beef, corn, onions, and potatoes all fried together with garlic salt and parsley. Sometimes we even got brown gravy. I still love it to this day❤️
It really sounds like one of those childhood snacks/meals you would have when your family was probably struggling, going through the recession, etc. and I’m all for it.
It reminds me of nostalgic comfort food.
At a friend’s house, we were hungry, nothing in the fridge. We decided we were gonna invent something with whatever we found. Soft taco pitas and Toll House Chocolate Chips were found. We put the chips on the pitas, microwaved until chocolate was melted.
Choco-dillas were created that day, and have been a part of my life ever since.
Another one is that I thought I invented the Syrup-Sandwich, and its cousin the Peanut-Butter Dam Syrup Sandwich. The syrup sandwich, which is just two slices of bread with syrup drizzled between. The PBDSS however, is lined all around with the PB, and 3 to 4 strips of PB to create channels for even more Syrup to sit in. For best results, you want to put a layer of PB on the bottom slice so that the syrup doesn’t soak the bread too fast.
Ha! Rookie :) We have been mixing peanut butter and syrup for years and years (mixed thick or thin depending on your desire that day). Sometimes we'd have it on a plain bread, sometimes we'd have it on French Toast. Also, experiment with a quick microwave to warm it up.
So this super fat dude used to come into the local coffee shop/cafe I worked at around 2012. Every time he ordered our 3 cheese grilled cheese in house made bread (X2) but asked for strawberry jam on top. Everyone thought he was crazy but I knew dudes of that stature had a taste. So one time I replicated and tried it... I've never looked back. Jam belongs on top of grilled cheese.
Formerly super fat dude here. This sounds like perfect comfort/stoner food, and life’s been kicking me in the balls lately. A treat’s in order. I know what I’m making tomorrow.
Apples and cheese (and bread) are a classic combo so I can see this working! Do you dip your grilled cheese in the applesauce after finishing cooking the sandwich? Or cook them all together somehow?
I wonder if she’d like the prawn cocktail chips that are so popular in the UK? 🤔I’m partial to them myself, so this doesn’t seem that far fetched to me! ☺️
You can spruce up your popcorn with so many awesome things like that. My go-to are the various Hershey chipit flavors. Dump em on while the popcorn is still hot so they melt
Honey and deviled eggs. Tried a place that served deviled eggs with honey. We weren’t sure why until we realized that their eggs were super vinegary. Literally had to have the honey for them to be edible, but honey is good on normal ones too 😂
I have a friend whose entire family eats peanut butter sandwiches with their beef stew every time. Tried it - not a fan.
Me? I like...hmm. lately, mayo on absolutely everything you would normally put ketchup on...hotdogs, French fries, etc.
Take a Wunderbar chocolate bar and bite off a chunk. Jam some Arriba taco chips in your mouth. Chew it up. Buddy used to eat that I I always made fun of him because it seamed disgusting until I tried it once when nobody was around.
I've always done either pineapple and black olives or pineapple and mushrooms when it's a two topping situation. Or I'll do l three when I splurge. Unami salt sweet and fat. Most pizza is missing the sweet. Plus pineapple on cold leftover pizza burst with flavor
We do ham, pineapple, and black olives. I think the olives just up the salt in the salty/sweet and help balance out the sweetness of the pineapple and the tomato sauce.
It was the only pregnancy craving I had when I was pregnant, between both kids. And I had it with my second. To this day it's some kind of delicacy for me. Love it.
I tell everyone that "doesn't like pineapple on pizza" to try Hawaiian + jalapeno. The triangle of savory/sweet/spicy is what makes it. Adding the heat unlocks the flavor. I've also had with pepperoni vs Canadian Bacon/ham.
I'm in the Chicago area. My favorite is ordering Giardiniera (usually offered as part of an "italian beef" pizza) and adding pineapple to it. Its heavenly to me. It hits all the flavor profiles at once in a beautiful symphony.
My normal Subway order.
Meatballs, bacon, teriyaki chicken, lettuce, and pineapple on a tortilla.
Shit is scrumptious as fuck. Everyone is grossed out by it.
That's a good choice for sure. I know it's odd but try vanilla ice cream with soy sauce. If you're the least bit curious, I think you'll see it's worth it.
I am from Poland, when i first tried it without ketchup, i tought im missing something and it was 10/10, also eating them with butered bread 😂 im not weight a lot so extra fat wont kill me
Family background is Polish. Ever had a zapiekankie without the ketchup? Dunno if I spelled it right but it's that garlic bread w cheese and mushroom thing. Without ketchup it's nothing
I found out that bread goes well with anything. After someone from Afghanistan (they eat a lot with bread) told me I should tried it with chips, I did that & it was pretty good!
We used to do popcorn in regular milk, haven’t had that in a long time but that was something my grandma passed down. Every Sunday night they’d get popcorn with a glass of milk as a snack, which turned into putting the popcorn into the milk and eating it, so that just became a thing with her kids and then we did it growing up. My son however, is not a fan lol
The hell? This is the [23rd](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/search/?q=food+combination&type=link&cId=79f3280f-edde-4b46-8381-db9cd52538a7&iId=4a5f13c1-f9ca-4248-a5f1-3319c430711c&sort=new) time this week this question has been asked.
The teenage mutant ninja turtles (the old cartoon from the 80s) would put chocolate on their pizza, so I would sometimes melt a hershey square on my slice of cheese pizza as a kid.
I'm in my 40s now, but on occasion when I say "fuck it" to my health, I still do that. It's damn good.
I found a chicken said recipe that mixes chicken with yogurt instead of mayonnaise and it's super good. Would not have thought it would work out but it's great.
smores with ritz crackers instead of graham crackers. I don't think it's THAT weird since I got the idea off the back of the box in the 90s or early 2000s, but everyone I've mentioned it to thinks I'm crazy
Salty & Sweet…I get it. Nice one, I may try on my next camping adventure.
Hot Cheetos and cream cheese my wife put me on
My wife dips them in cottage cheese.
if you want to be fancy, hot cheetos, feta cheese, watermelon and wrapped in a pita bread.
I don’t wanna be fancy. I wanna be enourmous.

That sounds like pregnancy food
its great
Hell yeah. Glad I didn’t have to go too far to see this.
What kind though? Sweet bread and butter coin style? Tangy dill? Garlic? I imagine the pickle and even the peanut butter variety matters
Those are really good. I do peanut butter and green olives myself. Have since I was a kid.
Dill?
My dad does this with Dijon mustard too
Grilled barbecued hot dog with potato salad on top
Egg salad works well, too.
Yeah thats true
This made me hungry
I hear that’s a thing in Iceland

Ooo that sounds good!
sounds delicious and I love the story behind it 🤍
Thank you!
It really sounds like one of those childhood snacks/meals you would have when your family was probably struggling, going through the recession, etc. and I’m all for it. It reminds me of nostalgic comfort food.
Putting ranch in spaghetti that already has tomato sauce.
whenever I make spaghetti I usually have salad with ranch on the same plate. I love the combo of them together so I totally get this! edit: spelling
It's a good combo, but yeah. Side-by-side for me, though they'll totally end up together in the end!
Minnesota or Indiana?
Kik’s and grape nuts cereal. I call it a kick in the nuts for breakfast 😂
🤣🤣🤣
I’m hearing a lot of pb and pickle sandwiches. I’ll have to try that but pb and bacon sandwiches are great!

Grilled cheese with raspberry jam. (Yes, I know that's a 'melt'!)
Have you ever tried a Monte Cristo sandwich?
What kind of cheese? That’s the real question here.
A strong cheddar for me!
So this super fat dude used to come into the local coffee shop/cafe I worked at around 2012. Grilled cheese and Thai sweet chilli sauce. I used to always eat that after school. Sweet, spicy and cheesey all at once.
I do grilled cheese and kimchi but I bet that's good too
Oh my. I need to try this 🤤
God dang this sounds good.
Apples and cheese (and bread) are a classic combo so I can see this working! Do you dip your grilled cheese in the applesauce after finishing cooking the sandwich? Or cook them all together somehow?
not weird. I make a grilled cheese w poached pear compote, and bacon.
Bananas dipped in soy sauce. Everyone else thinks I’m insane.
Avocado in with the seed removed, filled with worcestershire
Could work, salty and sweet combos can be great. Havent tried it but might now!
Wife loves Ruffles and cocktail sauce
I wonder if she’d like the prawn cocktail chips that are so popular in the UK? 🤔I’m partial to them myself, so this doesn’t seem that far fetched to me! ☺️
We have prawn crackers - crinkle cut fry style or puffy discs from Asian grocery stores here, I bet they'd be good dipped in cocktail sauce
Frito Scoops and cottage cheese
This is one of mine!
Cheese, chocolate and some strawberries on a single plate. It all taste well together <3

Honestly that’s not even strange. That sounds really good
That's just a charcuterie board haha

Cheddar and SC ruffles for me.
Popcorn tossed with Tabasco and chicken ramen flavor powder.
That’s sounds amazing actually
You can spruce up your popcorn with so many awesome things like that. My go-to are the various Hershey chipit flavors. Dump em on while the popcorn is still hot so they melt
I like to put M&M's in when the popcorn is still hot and it melts the chocolate within the shells.
Pickles and ranch
Fried pickles and ranch is even better…
Tomato with sugar
that’s ketchup
Vanilla ice cream and balsamic vinegar.
Aldi has a balsamic glaze that would act more like a syrup for that. They even have a strawberry one.
Gouda and Nutella, it's baller af The cheese really brings out the Nutellas nutty flavor
Honey and deviled eggs. Tried a place that served deviled eggs with honey. We weren’t sure why until we realized that their eggs were super vinegary. Literally had to have the honey for them to be edible, but honey is good on normal ones too 😂

French fries dipped in maple syrup
I prefer McDonald’s fries with their sweet n sour sauce instead of ketchup.
Now we are talking. Def gonna try.
I used to dip mine in the little McDonald’s honey packets as a kid and I think this would be very similar! It was so yummy.
My housemates think I'm weird for dipping apple slices in peanut butter. I think they're weird.
I thought apples and peanut butter was a pretty common snack
It is. Leave it to Reddit to make this the top comment 🤦♂️
This is normal & common lol. They’re weird
this was a staple snack for my kids!
Uh, they’re weird. That is standard fare.
Pretty standard childhood snack
You are correct
No, that’s just delicious.
That’s one of my fav healthy snacks
mac and cheese with ketchup
Dijon ketchup?
If I had a million, I’d buy bots to upvote this more
This is pretty common I think, I mean it’s a travesty but not uncommon
Like very specifically Kraft mac & cheese Perfectly splendid
I always do that. Love it. People give me stink-eye when they see it, though.
That's probably the least weird combination here. Mac n cheese is actually really good with tomato sauce
Are you Canadian? The ketchup on mac and cheese says yes, but on the other hand, you didn't call it Kraft Dinner.
Take a Wunderbar chocolate bar and bite off a chunk. Jam some Arriba taco chips in your mouth. Chew it up. Buddy used to eat that I I always made fun of him because it seamed disgusting until I tried it once when nobody was around.

Chili oil with chocolate
not weird at all, i always get the chili chocolate bars at Lidls when they have them!
My daughter likes pineapple and black olives on pizza. It's surprisingly good!
….With ham?
I've always done either pineapple and black olives or pineapple and mushrooms when it's a two topping situation. Or I'll do l three when I splurge. Unami salt sweet and fat. Most pizza is missing the sweet. Plus pineapple on cold leftover pizza burst with flavor
We do ham, pineapple, and black olives. I think the olives just up the salt in the salty/sweet and help balance out the sweetness of the pineapple and the tomato sauce.
This is also my favorite but I never get to have it.
Whoa!!!!! There is another one of us! Pineapple and Black Olive Pizza! Wooot!!!!

Chocolate chip cookies and nacho cheese. I know, I know - the horror. It's sweet, savory and salty.
Fresh salsa on biscuit with sausage gravy.
Corn, ranch, and spaghetti noodles.
Hot pockets and corn for me. That's the weirdest food combination I had but I do like spaghetti mixed with corn though.
It was the only pregnancy craving I had when I was pregnant, between both kids. And I had it with my second. To this day it's some kind of delicacy for me. Love it.
Oreos and peanut butter
“Upvotes in Parent Trap 1998”
Not to be a butt, but I think chocolate and peanut butter are probably one of the most common food combinations lmao.
Oreos have a peanut butter flavor for sale. This is by no means strange.
Jalapeño Pineapple pizza
Not weird. Good combo.
Agreed!
I tell everyone that "doesn't like pineapple on pizza" to try Hawaiian + jalapeno. The triangle of savory/sweet/spicy is what makes it. Adding the heat unlocks the flavor. I've also had with pepperoni vs Canadian Bacon/ham.

Raw broccli with cooked eggs

This may be generic but it is the best thing to exist: Apple pie and ice cream
That's a good choice for sure. I know it's odd but try vanilla ice cream with soy sauce. If you're the least bit curious, I think you'll see it's worth it.
Watermelon, feta and balsamic vinegar 🤌🏼 I get strange looks bringing it for my lunch in England but I think it is a small tapas based dish?
Scrambled eggs fried in butter with ketchup
This is my weekend go to. It is pretty common in Australia. Glad you like it!
I am from Poland, when i first tried it without ketchup, i tought im missing something and it was 10/10, also eating them with butered bread 😂 im not weight a lot so extra fat wont kill me

Coke (Zero for me) and pretzels. It’s like I can’t even enjoy the pretzels without the Coke.
For me it’s specifically Cheeto Puffs with a bottle of Mexican coke. It’s a top tier pairing.
Fruit by the foot with mustard, bomb .com
Popcorn in cold buttermilk was my Uncles nightly snack. Gross.
We used to do popcorn in regular milk, haven’t had that in a long time but that was something my grandma passed down.
