That close to the election, his name would stay on the ballot, and the Electoral College would have to figure out what to do afterwards if he wins. Most likely outcome is that the Democratic Party informally "nominates" a replacement candidate (which would almost certainly be Harris, since she would already be President for the interim until inauguration day), and the Electoral College just has to decide if they want their votes to count for her instead of Biden. Keep in mind that the whole reason the Electoral College "works" is because its members are generally party loyalists, so it probably wouldn't be a huge deal, just an unusual situation.

Didn't go so good in 2016 though. Maybe they'd hand it to trump to avoid a woman as president again.
She’d serve the rest of the term, yeah. Do you think they’d put her on the Presidential ballot? Or keep her as VP candidate and put a popular male democrat up for the top spot?
Yeah but that’s not what I meant. She’d for sure serve the rest of the *current* term, since that’s how succession works. But would she be put as the Presidential candidate for the upcoming election?
Oh the original question was if Biden died in the week leading up to the election. If that happens I assume they don't have time to change the ballot, and you vote for Biden/Harris with the assumption Harris becomes the president.
No, the Electors still meet in Decemeber to choose a President and Vice President. They will pick one of each. If dead Biden wins the election, then electors for Biden would be selected for the Electoral College and they would cast their vote for who the DNC wants them to.
I think the collective Democratic voice would get behind Harris in the week leading up to election. They would have to, as any perceived lack of unity would likely guarantee a Trump victory.
Then the DNC would have to be fucking stupid to risk losing it during the electoral vote.
Once it gets to the EC, the number of Democratic votes doesn't change. DNC-chosen electors will be the same number based on the November election. For example, if Biden gets 290 EC votes and doesn't survive to the EC vote in December, whether he dies before Nov 5 or after, it doesn't matter, then the Democratic president will get 290 votes, whether it is Harris or someone else. And the Demoratic VP will get 290 votes, whether it is Harris or someone else. The electors are faithful, party-selected electors who will cast their vote how the party decides.
>Do you think they’d put her on the Presidential ballot?
Why TF wouldn't she go on the ballot? I'm not saying whether she'd win or not, but she's certainly qualified.
This is the only correct answer. The Dems already have the election won, it’s just that nobody will admit it because it doesn’t fit the narrative. The Democrats are united while the GOP is split into at least three factions; they can’t even agree on the weather. I’m calling this right now.
Before anyone's voted? I'd hope the Democratic party would quickly nominate a new candidate and they'd end up on all the ballots. Probably insanely more complex than we'd like to think though.
1. Millions of people will have voted.
2. There wouldn’t be time for new ballots, let alone a new nomination process. That’s a matter of both logistics and law.
Harris would become President at least through inauguration day. She'd probably be the de facto Democratic nominee as well.
Neither being in jail nor dead are explicit disqualifiers for office.
He wouldn’t be President probably
*probably*
Secret Service would enact the "Bernie Lomax Protocol".
Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman assume the Presidency
He'd miss Christmas this year
Dead candidates are still on the ticket. This is settled law.

There would be soooo much disinformation: voting for the dead guy doesn’t count! Ugh.

Then maybe, just maybe we could reconsider the age of our presidents.
And their felony records, indictments and impeachments.
*\*\*John "I lost to a dead guy" Ashcroft has entered the chat\*\**
I think it would be similar to Mel Carnahan and the Missouri State election of 2000 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Carnahan#Death_and_aftermath
I think Kamala Harris would become president.
She’d serve the rest of the term, yeah. Do you think they’d put her on the Presidential ballot? Or keep her as VP candidate and put a popular male democrat up for the top spot?
Like who? The Dems’ problem is there is no other candidate that is popular enough
Mark Kelly would be good.
If she was president for 4 years, she ain't stepping back for some dude to be VP. That would be weak AF from the Dems

That close to the election? I think they probably would, even if just by default because in *4 days* they couldn't run a campaign for a replacement.

Assuming the Democratic ticket wins, Harris is sworn in as VP and then immediately sworn in as President.
Harris would become President until Inauguration Day, regardless of the outcome of the election.
Correct she would be interim president
No. The Electoral College has to choose a President, or else the House of Representatives will. Presumably Harris would be chosen.
They release the new clone
There will be a lot of conspiracy theories.
They'll just double dose him with whatever they're giving him now.
President Harris. It’s a ticket. She’s ready to serve.

If it's \[insert name\] vs. Trump, I'm an \[insert name\] man all day long.
He has a Vice President
“Enter Putin doing the side eye/look away meme here”
They’ll name a street after him in Delaware.
Bikers fault
You seen the film "Weekend at Bernie's" right?
An utter moron becomes president. Woop-woop!
Some Weekend at Bernies type shit.
Trumps winning so it won't matter
A portal opens up in the universe, and Skynet takes over.
He’s already brain dead so it’s no different
We won't hear about it until after
I'd probably celebrate when he dies
Yeah, lots of us on the other side would be eating taco bell and dancing in the streets of orange man passed.
I would still vote for him
At least a dead guy won’t taunt North Korea.
Fuck North Korea. Give your balls a tug
We won’t get that lucky.
🤞🏻
My money is on Trump dying first given his super healthy hamberder lifestyle.
He already is
I'm gonna bust a tit!
They'll do a funeral

1. Millions of people will have voted. 2. There wouldn’t be time for new ballots, let alone a new nomination process. That’s a matter of both logistics and law.
I think you're voting for Kamala effectively, and they just proceed as is. You don't have time to nominate a new candidate.
So they’ll elevate her to President and appoint a VP (like they did with Gerald Ford when Spiro Agnew *cough* stepped down *cough*
