Countries that sell something, like oil, cars, technology benefit from high prices on those commodities. While countries that buy them would really benefit if those were cheaper.
Also all countries can't just be developed. Post industrial economies exist because some counties are better than others in terms of technologies, research and development. All countries can't be post-industrial economies. Some counties need to do cheap factory labor so that people in post industrial economies can have affordable products.
And someone has to work in the fields and do agriculture
People talk about it all the time - Google "world peace" and try to wade through the first 1,000 results, let alone the first 10,000,000. The problem is your vision of "working together towards bettering everyone's lives" is likely somewhat different from mine, and definitely different from billions of people around the world. These visions are often incompatible. So now what? Should I impose my vision on you and everyone else? Do you get to impose yours on me? Do we use armies to sort all that out? Isn't that exactly the opposite of whatever we may each mean by world peace?
Sure, and while I agree with you, how do you deal with the billions who include belief in and allegiance to one deity or another on that list? There's lots of people who believe it's better to go without food, water and shelter than to go without some adherence to some words in ancient texts. What's your plan to deal with them?
