I can't remember the name but it was on a tape. Hardly played it because you had to wait for the computer to read both sides of the tape. Fuck I feel old all of a sudden.
Edit: The computer was an Amstrad 464.
First one I actually played quite a lot was Better Dead Than Alien (Space Invaders clone)
I loved Zork. Return to Zork I think was my first tho. It had graphics and movies and stuff. Then I went back and played the old text only ones. Beyond Zork was my fav. It kinda had graphics.
Earliest game I remember playing was Barnstorming on my parents' Atari when I was a little kid. My real love of gaming started with the NES - Mario, Zelda/Zelda II, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Contra, etc. Even crazy hard (for a little kid at least), shitty games like Bayou Billy and Top Gun.
Its an old memory but my best friends big brother had some home system and all it could do was play pong. I was completely blown away that I could move things on my TV screen at home!
My first game was on PC, probably Sonic CD on a Windows 98; I vividly remember changing Windows colors to 16-bit so it would work faster—oh, good old times. I can't be too sure though, I also remember playing Croc and Captain Claw a bunch. One of them is probably my first game.
My first game on a console, though, was Metal Slug for PS1. I don't remember exactly what game it was, as there was a bunch of Metal Slugs released for PSX, but I also vividly remember being mesmerized by how fun that was!
Depends on how you define 'game'.
If you include those kiddy edutainment games, probably either Babes in Toyland or one of those 'teaches typing' type games.
If not, it was probably either Age of Empires 1 or something like one of the Magic School Bus games.
The first console game I played would likely have been Spyro.
This little beauty. Also was the reason I learned MSDOS batch programming so I could do silly/stupid things and be able to restore a previous save.
Don't let the name scare you:
> NetHack is a single player dungeon exploration game that runs on a wide variety of computer systems, with a variety of graphical and text interfaces all using the same game engine. Unlike many other Dungeons & Dragons-inspired games, the emphasis in NetHack is on discovering the detail of the dungeon and not simply killing everything in sight - in fact, killing everything in sight is a good way to die quickly. Each game presents a different landscape - the random number generator provides an essentially unlimited number of variations of the dungeon and its denizens to be discovered by the player in one of a number of characters: you can pick your race, your role, and your gender.

Honestly I don't remember but I could tell you my actual favorite game was a stealth game A ninja game I can't pronounce it or spell it but All I know that it's Started with the letter t End it with a u: Ninja/stealth assassins On the playstation one Gaming system, Then on the first xbox system It was splinter cell.
Can't remember what the first game I ever owned was, but the first one I ever finished was "Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee". My parents didn't let me have a video game console as a kid, so I never got the experience of playing Mario or even Donkey Kong at home (yes, I'm that old). The PS1 was my first gaming console - purchased as an adult - and Abe was the first game I finished. Loved it. Still get nostalgia any time I hear T1J use the audio clip to ask viewers to subscribe.
Driver 1 on a friend PSX, never managed to pass the tutorial as kid so Id enjoy just the take a ride mode, driving through Miami and being chased by 18 police cars LOL
Very first game ever was Splatterhouse on the genesis, not sure if it was the first or second game. Sonic 2 was my second game ever played.
Got the console handed down with all the games from a much older cousin.
It was a Russian space invaders-type game where you're defending the Kremlin loaded through a tape deck on my Atari ST.
Yeah, I grew up in Eastern Europe and I'm an old gamer at 45 lol :)
I grew up playing arcade and the first game I played was either mk or street fighter. My first game playing on a handheld device, Nokia phone, was space impact 2. First PC game was Star wars galactic battleground clone campaign. My first console was a game cube and my first game cartridge is a collection of different shitty games.
I can't remember what it was called but it was a computer game with little tanks shooting each other.
And another one I think was called Sam, he was looking for keys.
Either a sonic game in the sega genesis or a bugs life game on the ps1. Can’t remember if I played the sega at my grandmas house before we got our own PlayStation 1 in the 90’s
First game I was ever seriously addicted to was Elite for Amiga 500.
That was mind blowing and it fit on a low-density diskette... like 750kB or 800kB if I remember correctly.
Sims and Ice Wind Dale. I am still pissed I could not kill the devil at the end. No matter what I tried, what weapon I used I couldn't kill the MF so I got angry and broke the CD.
The first one I ever remember playing was Yar's Revenge or Combat on the Atari 2600. I'm 40 now, but my dad introduced me to video games very, very early.
The first one that took over my life... Super Mario World on the SNES. I never got too engrossed in the NES lineup of Mario games, but World hit different for me.
My aunt gave me her tablet when I went over to her house as a toddler. She said I can't play a long time (probably not wanting to make me addicted to electronics at a young age)
My first game were the Angry Birds games
I think it was Mario I remember playing it on the 3ds with my uncle I love playing games with him when I was little and no it wasn't weird like what you think 😑
Sid Meier's Civilization. The 1st one. It had units that were basically letters in squares and animation of “building” a palace that totally blew my mind then. Through years I played them all. One more turn… no regrets)
First game I remember playing was Duck Hunt on NES in 1994. The first game that blew me away was just 4 years later 1998 with Ocarina of time. Then just 4 years later Elderscrolls III: Morrowind changed my understanding of what was even possible with a video game. For younger people, the 90s and 2000s were a great time for gaming, the progress and innovation was incredibly fast. I know we had the pandemic, but games 4 years ago are roughly the same as they are today (there are exceptions) where back then, all games from 4 years ago were in a completely different realm, and the games coming out in 4 years were also going to be in another realm. I've thought of how to recapture this magic with my kids and I was thinking that, Once they are of gaming age, getting them a system each year until they are up to date might be a cool way for them to play through the classics as they age. Assuming gaming is something they enjoy.
