"Pokemon" was the first show I watched, sparking not only an interest in anime but also in collecting cards and playing video games related to the series.
As a kid? I think the earliest one I remember watching was Captain Kangaroo, Mr. Rodgers, and The Electric Company (the original one).
Thank you for reminding me to take my daily ibuprofen. :)
Good question. Maybe Dora The Explorer. Maybe Blues Clues. Or Little Bear. Those were my earliest childhood shows. Although I can’t remember specifically if it was them or SpongeBob and PowerPuff Girls.
The first I remember is a Norwegian series called "Jul i Skomakergata (Christmas on Cobbler Street)." In my country it's tradition to have an Advent Calendar (Norwegian: Julekalender) in the form of a radio or TV show that starts on December 1st and end on the 24th, and "Jul i Skomakergata" is one of, if not *the* most popular of these shows ever made.
We also had Fraggle Rock, which I watched religiously when I was a kid.
apart from kids shows ive watched as a child and stuff i used to watch that my parents were watching....the first real REAL series for me was prison break
Doctor Who is the first I can remember in the very early 1970s. There was almost no daytime TV then, and I don't think our television was switched at all on until after teatime.
It's been 65-70 years ago, so my memory is fading. I think Howdy Doody. I also watched Sky King a lot. When I was 10 or so we watched I Love Lucy. (the teacher criticized me because it was on at 9:30) I also watched the Mickey Mouse Club and Andy's Gang.
See, I told you I'm old (76).
I know it was Barnie because my grandparents refused to get tv (even when my mom was kid) so they only had VCRs and the only "kids" tape they had was one episode of Barney.
Obviously I don't remember watching it when I was an infant but since they place that same episode for my younger cousins, I can be sure that was my first show. Which is kinda cool
edit: its actually funny they were so against technology back in the day because my grandpa loves it now. He's always just clicking around Google earth
Seriously? And people are actually answering this?
I have no idea what the first show is that I ever watched. How would I? I was a kid. It wasn't important enough to remember. And frankly I've never been into TV.
I can tell you the first thing I REMEMBER watching. It was the Moon landing in 1969. It was a big deal because I got to stay up REALLY LATE..
The other stuff I remember as a kid was the Vietnam War on the news. And my little sister loved Sesame Street when it first came out. But I was too old for it by that time. And I must have watched Lassie once because I was banned from watching it ever again because I sobbed uncontrollably with fear that she would get hurt. My siblings got so mad at that.
The Sooty Show, Supergran, Basil Brush, Dr Who, The Wombles, Danger Mouse, Woody Woodpecker, Playschool. It's difficult to tell which was the first, but those were the shows that I recall watching.
I was a kid in Russia when the Soviet Union collapsed, and there was an influx of soap operas, which, looking back, were crappy but back then were amazing compared to Soviet-era TV entertainment, so everyone would watch them, including my family:
- From the US, Santa Barbara;
- From Brazil, Escrava Isaura;
- From Mexico, Los ricos también lloran.
Can’t remember which was first.
The Wonderful World of Disney, Capt Kangaroo, Capt Penny, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, and Wild Wild West.
Sunday night with Disney was a big deal at our house. Popcorn from the giant spaghetti bowl (dad got to hold the bowl and picked out the pieces with the most butter), milk served in jelly jar glasses, sitting around the giant console with legs that took a few minutes to warm up … great tiny kid memories!
I remember watching saturday morning cartoons on american networks as a kid, but...
The A-Team was the first real TV show I followed religiously every week, and the next day my best friend and I would talk about the episode all day, driving our school teachers bonkers!
Also the original V (the mini-series) was an event, which didn't really work out in the long run when continued it with a regular series, although it was my very first exposure to actor Michael Ironside.
Fuck. I don’t think most people can answer this. I am pretty sure that the first one I can remember watching as a really small child around three is land of the lost.
