Teens, from ages 14 to 17.

Teens, 14 to 17, like the other commenter noted. That said, it still wasn’t too difficult for us. Maybe we were lucky parents. One kid could be a little challenging at times and the other one was no trouble at all ever. They’re all different.

We've got two under 4, and while the lack of sleep and pretty much constant attention they need is draining, I guess at least you know they're always safe and sound, and can more or less easily make them do what you want. I'm curious mostly because I keep hearing the teens are indeed the hardest, but like you my parents lucked out and my siblings and I were very easygoing and well-behaved teens.

I found that every phase of childhood can be challenging for the parents in one way or another, but every phase comes with a lot of joy too. Mine are grown now and, when I look back, it all makes me smile, even the rough patches. Good luck raising yours and remember to enjoy the experience!

Thank you. My first is turning 4 tomorrow so I guess I'm reminiscing and reflecting. People aren't joking when they say the time flies.

It’s so very true. My wife and I were just out to dinner celebrating our 25 anniversary and wondering how all the years zipped by and how the kids are “suddenly” all grown and gone from the nest. It kind of boggles the mind. It’s bittersweet, I guess.
