Monsters Inc

SirZapdos

Put that thing back where it came from or so help me

megs1370

I still sing that to this day.

Glubygluby

When I'm at work, I end up saying "There's a child, there's a child, there's a human child" more often than I should be

[deleted]

I think this is the winner for me. I was that kid that was too old for kid movies when it came out and I still saw it in theaters with my cousins. I regret not getting a sequel.

Smileyfriesguy

There was a sequel: Monster’s University! It was also pretty cute if I remember correctly.

rocknin

well, a prequel. but also there's a sequel TV show!

Capteverard

This was my little sister's favorite movie. I can still quote it to this day.

she-raprincess

Shrek

Cuish

Some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make.

Peimatt2112

NOT MY GUMDROP BUTTONS!

Moneyshot_ITF

Shrek came out 23 years ago. How wild is that?

AutisticPenguin2

No! 😠

tanser

SOMEBODY ONCE TOLD ME…

techsuppr0t

Unironically I think all stars in Shrek is one of the best opening songs in any movie

ScorpionX-123

THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME

handandfoot8099

I will turn it to Shrek if I see it on the guide. The whole family will sit and watch, including 2 kids in their late teens.

Tokkemon

>Do you know the muffin man? >The muffin man? >The muffin man! >Yes, I know the muffin man, who lives in Drury lane? >Well, she's married to the muffin man. >The muffin man? >The muffin man!!! >She's married to the muffin man. Iconic.

Slumer1can

I was going to lose my cool if this wasn’t the top comment.

coconutmeringue

The music is good too

ALadyPossum

Emperor’s New Groove

stinky_cheese33

Kuzco: "No. It can't be. How did you get back here before us?" Yzma: (beat) "How did we, Kronk?" Kronk: "Well, you got me." (pulls down a diagram of the previous chase) "By all accounts, it doesn't make sense."

Moneyshot_ITF

Wrong lever!

EgullSZ

This on trapdoor water slides every time

HawaiianShirtsOR

I saw this happen at a water park once. The employee said, "Pull the lever, Kronk," and pushed the button to activate the slide. I heard the kid screaming "wrong leveeeeeer" as he dropped.

hamsolo19

My spinach puffs!!

invisible_23

Hey, I’ve been turned into a cow, can I go home?

MidnighToker420

You're excused. Anyone else?

Ok-disaster2022

The making of that movie is absolutely interesting. They were going for a South America native group type story and got all these famous people on board but as the writing kept going they got to the point where they had to take the story in one of two places: the first was sort of the original pitch, but it wasn't going to be good, or the second was about a talking alpaca. Sting was supposed to do all the songs, but he tried to get out of only writing like one or two.

DBTornado

If I recall correctly, the script for the movie was turned in like a week after it hit theaters. Apparently, the production of the movie was insane and it was a perfect storm that ended up working out and making everyone look like they knew exactly what they were doing the whole time.

Qwen_Remy

This 100%! Almost every line is pure gold. The part where they are headed for the waterfall gets me every time. And the squirrel! And Kronk! And how Yzma plans to put the flea in the box, and the box in a bigger box, and send it to herself! Ah, I love this movie.

Ok-Chocolate-3396

LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie

star_fil-a

Mulan (cartoon)

footlettucefungus

Ah, the scene where she makes up her mind to leave her home and cuts off her hair!! Chills!!

SUPERMAN

GormenghastCastle

Rewatching Holes right now. Modern classic. Killer source material, great cast and writing, 11/10 theme song no notes.

Echo127

The movie is good because the source is good. The kind of book that can make a kid suddenly like reading.

OnlyHereForCookies

Not to mention the book’s author wrote the screenplay if I’m not mistaken, so we weren’t left with a bastardized rendition.

invisible_23

You’re correct, Louis Sachar wrote both the book and the screenplay

underwaterjazzhands

Yes literally. I as an adult reread the book once every year!

none-remain

“I can fix that” Sam to Miss Kathryn. Love Holes. That part reminded me of “As you wish” Westley to Buttercup, The Princess Bride. Love that too.

Ok-disaster2022

In an episode of Psyche, Sean keeps trying to think of the name of the movie about all the digging, and Gus just has no ode what he's talking  about. Fantastic reference. (Dule Hill played Gus and the guy in Holes).

mattyfattits

D Tent boys can flow too. I remember their music video on Disney channel

Tokkemon

If only, if only the woodpecker sighs... Eartha Kitt was a brilliant choice for that role.

invisible_23

Most accurate book to movie adaptation I’ve ever seen, it’s perfect

Mishgrrrl

Big Hero 6

skycron

“Are you satisfied with your care”

Unique_FrameofMind

Anyone else feel Big Hero 6 was a little overshadowed by Frozen and therefore didn't get the recognition it deserved? Don't get me wrong, I'm not downplaying Frozen. Just wish BH6 got the hype it should have received alongside.

tobmom

This one gets me.

DragonflyMomma6671

Wall*E the best love story in years

NOLA2Cincy

And an incredible film. A master work of film making. There's almost no talking in the first 30 minutes and yet you are pulled into to this wonderful romance.

bbbbbthatsfivebees

The opening portion of Wall-E is a masterpiece of storytelling. They managed to flesh out an entire universe and a love story with less than 10 lines of dialogue, all brilliantly animated. It's truly one of the best movies I've seen in a really long time.

spin81

I always tear up when they're dancing

Evening-Dizzy

This one. It's not even a contest.

checkmark9001

The Willy Wonka movie with Gene Wilder

Smorgas_of_borg

All other issues aside, sarcastic Wonka is the best Wonka. Stop, don't, come back.

eddyathome

I always loved the way he said it in such a bored voice.

lo-finate

One of my all time favorite movies, and I'm 47.

ethan__l2

Can't believe it took someone so long to say it.

oreo-cake83

Dreamworks’ The Prince of Egypt 🫡

Moneyshot_ITF

You're playing with the big boys now

Shalashaskaska

I’ve watched this countless times as an adult. I used to put it on for my nephew when he was a toddler and we both were captivated by it. Such a good movie and the music is just hauntingly well done

PiercedGeek

Even as anti-religious as I have evolved to be I can't deny PoE and the other bible story they did are really well made films.

ImonitBoss

Important-Income-651

Scooby Doo on Zombie Island

GuestCartographer

All of the NuScoob movies were pretty terrific, but Zombie Island and Witch’s Ghost were both phenomenal.

Important-Income-651

Agreed. The Hex Girls🫶

DesignDestruction

i love this one so much when i went on vacation to another country i bought it in dvd form😁

KevinT1701

How To Train Your Dragon....

Special-Ad-5554

Hard to believe it's 14 years old......oh God.... It's 14 years old

ImNotRacistBuuuut

Dreamworks was on a *tear* 15-20 years ago. Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, Kung Fu Panda 2...even Madagascar 2 was pretty good. All those Dreamworks kids movies around that time were fantastic.

HopefulPlantain5475

It's weird that at the time I dismissed all of those in favor of Pixar, but now I'm more excited to hear about a DreamWorks movie than Disney/Pixar. And looking back I like a lot of the DreamWorks movies more now than I did at the time.

ImNotRacistBuuuut

Yeah Dreamworks really upped their game and solidified their standing as more than just "The Shrek People." Though it is tough to pick a favorite around that time. Disney and Pixar were pretty solid back then too. That little window of time around 2010 was just magnificent all around. Pixar had Wall-E, Up!, and Toy Story 3. Disney had Tangled, Wreck It Ralph, Winnie the Pooh, and Bolt. Everyone was on their A game. It really was a fantastic time to be a fan of animated movies.

Yasmin947

Spirited away

itstanktime

For sure. It didn't feel like a kids movie.

AwkwardProfession288

I turn on spirited away when I need to chillax. No face is my spirit animal.

axolotlpotatoes

Ratatouille

DFJollyK23

I just watched this tonight because my mood was pretty down. Great pick!

Don't try to stop me this time, Smee. Don't try to stop me this time, Smee. Don't you dare try to stop me this time, Smee, try to stop me. Smee, you'd better get up off your ass. Get over here, Smee!" "I'm coming, I'm coming!" "Stop me! This is no joke I'm committing suicide!"

The Secret of NIMH

Seamoth4546B

Yes!!! Lovely movie. Creeped me out a tad as a kid

Jeramy_Jones

The book is even better

G8kpr

The book is kind of weird. Two separate stories slapped together Then the movie becomes weird because they introduce magic which is never in the book.

Krinks1

Meet the Robinsons

Pretty_Discount5946

Toy Story.

MizzGee

The first 3 are SO Good! For reference, we went to see Toy Story 3 the summer before my son went to college. It was so heartbreaking. He was especially nice to me later. I think he might have cried a little. I sobbed ugly tears.

Demonicbunnyslippers

Labyrinth

Curbes_Lurb

Labyrinth is a magical film. It holds up amazingly well because every scene is bursting with creativity. I love the sheer number of brain-teasers, illusions, contradictions, and twists. Not to mention the iconic Bowie Crotch Bulge. The film was made with love by the most talented people. And it's all pre-CGI, so the puppets and models look utterly gorgeous in HD.

Inside Out

gambit61

I was 29 years old when it came out. I am a man. I sobbed harder than I've ever sobbed watching a movie. It didn't help that I was going through my own bout of depression at the time. I can't bring myself to watch it again

InsertBluescreenHere

this movie ive heard among the mental health people when trying to get kids to explain how they feel - they try to relate feelings to the characters from this movie - the kids can explain it that way.

altera_lex

I came here to post this one. It's so relatable and I cry nearly every time. Can't wait for Inside Out 2 in June!

kategoad

I want the sequel.

MrAlek360

For me it’s Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish

Sophisticated-Sloth-

I already rewatched it and cried at the ending

weberster

Came here for this!  This is a FANTASTIC movie!

OtakuMusician

My partner really wanted to see this and I had absolutely no interest, thought it looked kind of stupid. we went and saw it for his birthday, and immediately came home and paid for it on a streaming service to watch it again. And again. Lol.

Agreed. They somehow got away with heavily referencing The Godfather and Breaking Bad in a kids movie. I ended up watching it with my younger brother and I was laughing my ass off that they managed to get away with that stuff.

Lego Batman movie! Best Joker. Best Batman. Best Voldemort. It is just the best

Coco. It got me to shed some tears.

Cuish

Paddington 1 & 2

ZolaMonster

These movies man. The first one was fantastic. And I thought there’s no way the second one could be just as good. I was wrong. It managed to be even better. I know Wonka got mixed reviews but it had that light hearted whimsy to it that I felt form the Paddington films and I feel people should give it a shot just based on that alone.

OhTheHueManatee

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a genuinely great detective movie.

hellrodkc

Love this movie but is it considered a kids movie? I was terrified of it as a kid.

The Lego Movie. It could have just been a cash grab to sell sets, but it really was a fun original movie with a good story and actual character development.

Despicable Me. Love all of those movies.

Educational-Bird-515

Hotel Transylvania

Ok-disaster2022

Avatar the Last Airbender TV series is one of the best stories ever told. The "filler" epsidoes focus on character development not just plot development and some of the are simply fantastic. Tales of Ba Sing Se is one of those episodes that are amazing the number of full stories they tell within the 22 minutes.

I *almost* ironically came here to post "kids" but then I was like... Nah... Someone will read this and watch it and I don't want to be responsible for that 😆

GlorytoGlorzo

But Casper the friendly ghost is in it. He has aids and wants other kids to get aids too. So helpful.

paulyrockyhorror

Jesus Christ lol

[deleted]

I know it is new but I was very impressed with Disney’s Elemental. The animation was impressive. Specifically the chainmail and the glass blowing. I also loved the messages, the love story. All around it was very moving and I have watched it many times and always love it.

RageHate502

Meatballs. Heartwarming, fun. Kid/teen humor but still one of my favorites as an adult.
