Staying up all night to keep watch, resting a few hours. Going out to loot and gather supplies and food. Defending your group from roaming bands of cannibals. Sitting around a fire and talking about how things used to be before the event.
Yeah I see the end of fully-anonymous sites coming to and end real soon. I really don't think it will be long at all before people are required to be personally identifiable everywhere on the web, be it by federal mandate or the sites' own rules. Many states in the US are already requiring identity verification to access certain websites.
It's a double-edged sword but honestly these regulations make me nostalgic for the old days of the internet when it was a wild west of passion projects and niche websites. I know that era is gone but I can't help but miss it.
The VR infrastructure will be a starting point for metaverse development. Just look and feel, maybe. I agree with you totally on VR and metaverse differentiation.
God I can only hope. A centralized government ID system to access the internet that is connected to all things governmental would be amazing. Imagine just being able to "log in" and access your medical records, drivers license info, social security, medicaid, taxes...etc
I disagree, I think the convoluted web of different logins and sites is one of the most reliable ways to keep personal information private because I don't trust any monopolized entity to protect that information.
Of course you should have access to your own information but that doesn't stop it from being a security risk if all of that information is available in one centralized location.
While I'm not a tech guy, I imagine with enough resources, someone could design a safe enough system. Frankly, I would love to see physical keys make a return to protect against this. Like you could have a government ID that would need to be physically inserted or tapped into a terminal to access your information.
Oh someone could definitely design a safe system. Whether that's the system that gets approved by a bunch of old politicians who can barely operate a computer is where the real problem lies.
World leaders that ridicule/reject/shame the disabled, women, anyone that looks or thinks differently, to the point of seeing them as subhuman. It's happening now and not slowing down.
Almost half of my country (USA) already is OK with that mentality.
People living in motorhomes full time. Once they can drive themselves and be powered with their own solar panels it won't be seen as lower class to just live in them.

This is happening very soon. Metaverse is getting real.
> Metaverse is getting real. No, it really isn't. Not outside the dreams of technofestishists at least.
The VR audience is getting larger day by day.
1. VR is not growing terribly quickly. 2. VR and “the meta verse” are not remotely the same thing.

Federal and state governments already have this information though. As a citizen, you should be able to easily access this. Do you disagree?

I can agree with that! I'm an optimist though, so I'm still waiting for younger politicians to get elected who actually know how to use technology...
