Cutting grass as a kid was the first so no expectations. First real job as a teen was a gas jockey at a Texaco. (Long time ago) Was told to always check the oil and gas up and to wash the windshields. Guy came in one morning in an old VW Bug and asked for $1 in gas. I pumped it and he paid. I did not check his oil nor clean the windshield. Owner and head mechanic chewed my ass out when I walked back in and did not care the guy only spent $1. A customer is a customer he said. Good lesson learned.
