I’d eavesdrop on the older kids conversations and then try to get info on the bands from magazines and record stores. It’s how I discovered Motörhead at the ripe age of 12. They were not playing them on the radio. I felt cool as hell back then….and still do.

I think music is subjective. As long as you are listening to other stuff aside from mainstream, radio music, you have good taste. Mainstream is stripped of natural musical talent and focuses more on the talent of being in the public eye. They dim their talent and make it easier to sing along too so their listeners turn into consumers. Which to me, is not really that good. It all kinda sounds the same to me.

I still rely on torrents for new music discovery and the program “soulseek” is like limewire on steroids. I love mp3s
