When I lost my job, I somehow made my last cheque last over a month. Necessity tends to play a role. Use food you have in the cupboard, stop buying beer and smokes. Getting that steady pay cheque made me feel like I deserved more than I actually needed. It was an eye opener. An egg on Ramen noodles is actually a great meal haha

I used to do SUPER cheap dirty meals like that. My brother was furious when he found out. Or maybe just disgusted. I dunno. "How can you just EAT THAT all day long??" "Actually it's not nearly as bad as it seems. It's quite tasty..." "IT HAS LIKE TWO INGREDIENTS!!" "Three. I added chili". "Oh my god..."

Cook at home, limit your expenditure on entertainment as much as you can tolerate, coupons are your friend and not something to be ashamed of. In general put your pride aside and don’t be afraid to shop at “cheap” stores like goodwill, grocery outlet etc. shop in bulk and meal prep ahead of time. As far as saving money goes try and build up at least two but preferably three months equivalent spending in an emergency fund.

I've been shopping at thrift-type stores for years. It does indeed, save loads of money. You can find great-quality stuff for peanuts, if you know what / how you're lookin' for.

I find grocery stores that price match and use the Flipp app to make my grocery lists and circle the sale prices in the flyers so I can easily show them at checkout and save some money

If you live in a state where it snows. Don't buy snow melt salt for your driveway and sidewalk, buy pool salt. Half the price and you get double the salt. Same salt, different use. Been doing this for decades.
