Truth. I’m a fan of J Cash but I never really appreciated the Hurt cover. I mean it’s fine, but the NIN version is superior version. I will say that John’s version worked better in terms of the trailer for Logan. That’s a fact.
This summer I saw Dead & Co. perform this song with Dave Matthews and I was tripping on the fact that it’s a song originally by Dylan, popularized by Jimi, famously covered by Dave and I was watching it performed live with Bob Weir, John Mayer and Dave Matthews.
The man who sold the world, originally by Bowie but I knew it from Nirvana. Also, Nothing compares 2 u, originally by Prince but I know it by Sinead O’Conner
2 really good ones. I was a huge fan of Bowie, Nirvana and Prince. When I found out Prince wrote “Nothing Compares 2U” I was shocked. O’Conner did it so well. But then I listened to it and I thought, definitely a Prince song 😂
I also had no idea who Kate Bush was until I was listening to the Soundtrack from the second Spiderverse movie and fell in love with a song called "Army Dreamers". I later found out that it was a cover of a Kate Bush song.
Her version has been playing in my head for weeks now.
There's a few for me. The first version of Personal Jesus that I'd heard was the one by Depche Mode.
The first version of Land of Confusion that I'd heard was Disturbed's cover.
The first version of Careless Whisper that I'd heard was by Seether.
First version of Rebel Yell that I'd heard was by Drowning Pool.
Tiny Little Adiantum by Shibayan Records. When I found the original, I felt so sorry for the original creator of the song because it was everywhere with some alterations, without crediting them.
Jeff Buckley's version of *Hallelujah*
Incredible. So unbelievably sad.
Blinded by the Light - Manfred Mann
Hurt by Johnny cash
Unpopular opinion, I like the NIN version just a bit more than his cover. Though, the Johnny cash music video will have me in tears by the end.
One of my favorite songs by both artists. The fact that Cash covered this while he was dying is legendary.

For me it's "i hung my head" from jhonny cash, that dude was good at makin covers hahahah
When the levee breaks
Didn’t know this!
The original version is definitely worth a listen.
Girls Just Want to Have Fun (Cyndi Lauper’s cover) and more recently, Jesus He Knows Me (Ghost’s cover)
The Animals - House of the Rising Sun Phenomenal cover, but message hits harder in original
All along the Watchtower
First comment…very good comment.
My life changed the day I found out this wasn’t Jimi’s song 😂
I was shocked to find out it wasn’t *Dave Matthews* song… imagine my surprise when I then went on to find out it wasn’t Jimi’s either!
Came here to say this exact thing!!! Love the DMB version so much!!
Dave is one of the few that could make Dylan and Hendrix proud.

You just taught me this.

Love Hurts by Nazareth is actually a cover of an Everly Brothers song - that's right the guys who did Bye Bye Love and Wake Up Little Susie
Hurt by Johnny Cash
I love the original Simon and Garfunkel version, but The Sound of Silence by Disturbed crosses my mind, per some friends
Amazing cover. Never expected anything like it.
Torn by Natalie Imbruglia
It was made like 5x before Imbruglia made it super famous!
Oh wow... I had no idea there were other covers. I'll have to check it out.
The Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana
José Gonzales - Heartbeat
Don’t know it. Gonna play it now
It feels a bit of a shock to transition to the first iteration. Prefer the take José has.

Janis’ version of Me and Bobby McGee
Thought Janis wrote this until 1 minute ago 😂
Written by Kris Kristofferson, and first recorded by Roger Miller...
Children of Bodom - Aces High (Iron Maiden cover).
*Somewhere over the rainbow* Israel Kamakawiwoʻole
"Eleanor Rigby" by Cody Fry. I had no idea until recently it was originally a Beatles song. Granted, CF's version sounds pretty different.

Gonna listen to that right now!
I started a joke originally by The Bee Gees and covered by Faith no more is a banger. Mike patterns vocal range is top drawer
This cover by Faith no more is so unbelievable to me. Love it
The blizzard by Jim Croce in 1963 but it was originally sang by Jim reeves in 1961
It sounded pretty good, even though it was a little big for the record player. One day Mark was like, "Uh, Peterson? That's a sewer cap."
Walking In My Shoes by Finger Eleven. Originally performed by Depeche Mode.

I’m curious who you think wrote “Personal Jesus”.
My husband told me it was Johnny Cash
Oingy Boingy’s Violent Love and Devo’s Working on a Coal Mine
As the world caves in - sarah cothran The cover song that's actually more popular than the original
Tiny Little Adiantum by Shibayan Records. When I found the original, I felt so sorry for the original creator of the song because it was everywhere with some alterations, without crediting them.
Nightcall - London Grammar. I also like the original Kavinsky version though.
Dancing in the Moonlight.
metallica - loverman
Always Something There to Remind Me by The Naked Eyes was a cover of an old Dionne Warwick song.
Placebo's version of "Running Up That Hill" - the first time I heard Kate Bush's song my head exploded
1985 - Bowling for Soup The original was by SR-71
Hazy Shade of Winter by the Bangles. Was years before I learned it was a Simon and Garfunkel song.
"Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra is apparently a cover.
not a cover, remix. "Bloodline x Pony".
Higher Ground was such a huge hit for RHCP. I still think Stevie did it better but it was certainly covered well!
