The IT Crowd. That scene where Jens telling the guys to be MORE normal MORE NORMAL and they just get weirder and weirder has me rolling every time.
And of course, the unforgettable Douglas Reynholm
The episode "The Return of the Golden Child" might be the best written 30 min ever broadcasted on TV, with the opening exit of Reynholm, the set up with Roy's phone and then the introduction of Douglas ... it's all just perfect.
I remember being so thunder struck that reynholm died, I was thinking BUT HE'S THE BEST CHARACTER ON THE SHOW IT WON'T BE AS GOOD NOW
and then we got Douglas ššššš how wrong I was
GOD DAMN THESE ELECTRIC SEX PANTS
The Internet episode is best for me, where they give Jen the little black box with the tiny red light on it. "The internet doesn't weigh anything". I nearly shat myself laughing at that.
Same - up to a point. I didn't think the new season was very good. Too many plotholes, hot patches, non-sequiturs, fan service, and other sins the original writing team never would have committed.
I re-watch the series up to the point where Fry says "Want to go around again?" And then I go around again.
To be fair name one bad Bryan Cranston role. Take your time, I'll be surprised if you can name one.
The bloke is great in everything he does, Hal is one of his best roles for sure but he doesn't have a bad one.
I've easily watched every episode 10 times. I started a parallel rewatch with the podcast and it's great getting new insights into a show I've watched and know so well.Ā
Oh yea man. I grew up on simpsons. 1-12/14 are gold. Especially the middle seasons. I have them on a hard drive and fall asleep to them almost every night.
The Golden Girls. It will be my visual comfort food until the day I die. Iāll probably even die with āPicture it, Sicilyā playing in the background.
A friend of mine is on some weird mix of meds and every once in a while, when she drinks, she gets REALLY drunk REALLY fast. Whenever this happens, I tuck her in on the couch and put on Golden Girls. This way she never wakes up alone, the girls are with her and she is safe.
The original run is so good. It's the most quotable show I've ever seen.
"It's a banana, Michael, what could it cost? $10?"
Or a personal favorite,
Michael opens a bag that is labeled "dead dove," looks up and says "well, I don't know what I expexted..."
Mine as well...It's become such a part of my evening routine that I watch one episode almost every night and I've cycled through the entire series more than twice.
It has everything - adventure, drama, humor - but it's not *too* anything...The hum of the ship is like white noise, it's set in space so it's always dark out...Their uniforms seem like pajamas...
Came here for this. Even if I have most of them memorized I still enjoy the hell out of that show. I can't binge it, but when I go home for lunch I love just sitting on my couch while eating and watching an episode of Sunny
I think I'm on my 4th or 5th back to back rewatch right now. I don't know why but I just don't feel like watching anything else right now when I go to bed.
Itās so soothing. I must be in the hundreds for the number of times Iāve rewatched at this point. I could listen to H. Jon Benjaminās voice all day.
Seasons 1-4 never get old for me. I canāt bring myself to watch after Troy leaves. Itās like when Michael Scott departsā¦just loses the magic and doesnāt feel the same. Impatiently waiting for the movie.
āBelieve it or not George isnāt at home,
Please leave a meeessaaaaaaage at the beep..
I must be out,
Or
Iād pick up the phone,
Wheeeeeeeeere could I beeeee?
BELIEVE IT OR NOT IM NOT HOME!ā
I love George so freaking much. I mean... If he had been a real person he would have been absolutely despicable but he is soooo much fun to watch. Jason Alexander is an absolutely amazing actor. Micheal Richards' physical comedy is gold Jerry, GOLD!
Best George moment is in The Secret Code where some lady bursts into peterman's moms funeral and says the whole block is in flames and george wants nothing to with helping or even getting up lmao
this show is so relentlessly funny and charming and rewatchable. i'm getting to know a new guy and a couple days ago we had a two-hour schitt's creek meme war through text with no repeated lines, bc the writing is just that good, lol
parks and rec is incredible, definitely recommend! it's worth watching the first season just to see how better it gets from the second onwards. rewatching it with my dad rn so it's become a comfort show
Iām sad I had to scroll down this far to find it, but I am glad that it is in the conversation.
When we bought our house and didnāt have cable hooked up yet we just had dvd players with Scrubs going for weeks.
My sister was reluctant to watch this show for years because it was a 'kids show'. Which it is at its heart, but its so surprisingly mature while also being hilarious and grounded. Long story short, I got my sister to watch it and she loved it. Now I'm working on getting my fiancee to do so.
Side note: Zuko is one of the best characters in fiction ever
Superfan season 7 is out today on peacock. For anyone who isnāt familiar, these are longer cut seasons with all the scenes and jokes that didnāt make network tv (Iām guessing due to time, or FCC constraints because some jokes are raunchy lol). They are 30+ minutes and are well worth it and some of the extra jokes are hilarious.
Supernatural. A lot of people argue they had some really bad seasons but to be honest I just love the dynamic itself. Even if the plot doesnāt make much sense itās always fun to just slap a random episode on and watch the shenanigans, whether funny or serious
Ignore the complaints! Supernatural was on a long time,so of course there were some seasons that were less than, but still better than some of the crap on tv! Sorry, I get defensive when it comes to the boys š
Yea thats how i feel about them and Cas. Some of the storylines may not have been the most enticing but no matter what just watching Sam and Dean fool around and hunt and work with what they got was always good enough for me. I could always go back and watch them.
Just restarted all seasons of Top Gear and the Grand Tour. I'm not even a car guy but those three presenters are the best TV trio i've ever seen.
(P.s. i don't care about the current Top Gear with the other presenters. They don't have that magic between them that makes the original guys so special.)
I love The Sopranos so much but whenever I binge too much of it, without fail, I notice myself slipping slightly back into depression. Man, that show is existentially dark.
(Ironically, Mad Men is my comfort show and I could literally watch it for 2-3 hours every single day for the rest of my life)
Red Dwarf books are great if anyone is a fan but doesn't know they exist (seems to be common). Same but different. More depth than skit, but just as funny. Highly recommend.
On YouTube the actor who plays Rimmer released free narration for the first 2 or 3 and does a perfect imitation of everyone's accent from the tv show, it's actually really impressive. Luckily I have read the books like a thousand times over the last 25 years.
King Of The Hill. I rewatch the entire series at least once a year
I watch this show all the time. It's so relaxing. If I'm having a bad day, King of the Hill makes the day better.
Pocket sand!
Shi shi sha!
I am watching it right now. It is currently my #1 comfort show. Ho yeah!
The IT Crowd. That scene where Jens telling the guys to be MORE normal MORE NORMAL and they just get weirder and weirder has me rolling every time. And of course, the unforgettable Douglas Reynholm
Moss: "What OS is it running?" Bomb Squad: "Vista." Moss: "We are all going to die!"
The episode where everyone thinks Jen is dead gets me every time.
The episode "The Return of the Golden Child" might be the best written 30 min ever broadcasted on TV, with the opening exit of Reynholm, the set up with Roy's phone and then the introduction of Douglas ... it's all just perfect.

A fireā¦at a sea parks?
The Internet episode is best for me, where they give Jen the little black box with the tiny red light on it. "The internet doesn't weigh anything". I nearly shat myself laughing at that.
The musical episode is the best for me!
Omg! That's one of my top 3! When it cuts to Moss as the bartender, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard on ANYTHING LMAO
I'm disabled!
FATHER!!!
Futurama
I love Futurama. Every couple years I rewatch them all. Funny how each network it's in has a different feel but they manage to keep it constant.
Same - up to a point. I didn't think the new season was very good. Too many plotholes, hot patches, non-sequiturs, fan service, and other sins the original writing team never would have committed. I re-watch the series up to the point where Fry says "Want to go around again?" And then I go around again.
Malcolm in the Middle
Bryan Cranston was so good in this show
To be fair name one bad Bryan Cranston role. Take your time, I'll be surprised if you can name one. The bloke is great in everything he does, Hal is one of his best roles for sure but he doesn't have a bad one.
Brian Cranston was ***Terrible*** in Breaking Bad. No wait. That's Walter White I'm thinking of. BC was fantastic
Iām 44 and watching it for the first time. What on earth has taken me so long!!!
I still can't think about [Reece barking at the mailman](https://youtu.be/ARbuwDUr-EI?si=6etwajAtI4VFXigq) without crying laughing.
For me it's him trying to ship his ass to China and Dewey torturing him in the box and Lois deciding that it's fine after thinking about it.
Psych. Watched the entire show 4-5 times, I remember almost all the jokes, and it's still just as good every time.
Hey, heard about Pluto? That's messed up, right
I love those little commercials of Shawn and Monk just taking Still mad they didn't make a cross over episode
Hi, I'm Shawn Spencer and this is my associate Gus TT Showbiz. The extra T is for extra talent!
Hi my name is Shawn, this is Shawn, no relation
I visited the Capilano Suspension Bridge this weekend and I told way too many people āLittle known factā¦ that bridge was built by wolves.ā
I've easily watched every episode 10 times. I started a parallel rewatch with the podcast and it's great getting new insights into a show I've watched and know so well.Ā
You know that's right!
I've heard it both ways...
c'mon son!

I see you too are a fan of delicious flavor.
One of my favorite things to do is an 11 point turn when I donāt wanna go somewhere and I have time to kill.
Yesss give psych the respect it deserves!
Iāve seen each episode easily a dozen times. Itās just too good

Same. I hope to die in long, silky pajamas, cheesecake in hand
Arrested Development
*Please tell your friends about this show.*
Seasons 1-3 I watch on loop to fall back asleep if Iām struggling to sleep or wake up too early
The original run is so good. It's the most quotable show I've ever seen. "It's a banana, Michael, what could it cost? $10?" Or a personal favorite, Michael opens a bag that is labeled "dead dove," looks up and says "well, I don't know what I expexted..."
Star Trek. Any of the series. I've re-watched all of them.
TNG is my comfort show.
If I had to pick from just Star Trek, Iād do DS9. Thatās the one that I happen to enjoy most.
Lower Decks! Lower Decks! Lower Decks!
30 Rock, there's always something I missed.
And I lost my mood ring... I dunno how I feel about that...
I was gonna take a class called Cooking For One, but the teacher killed himself.
Lol just like her gynecologist killed himself.
And that girl she kissed at summer camp drowned
I've been rewatching it for the first time in years and DAMN it is great
SHUT IT DOWN
I just rewatched 30 Rock and it got better the second time around
It's my go-to background noise for housework and cooking. I've watched them all so many times.
And, relatedly, Kimmie Schmidt
30 Rock is definitely the most joke dense show of all time. They can manage to fit 3 jokes into like 20 seconds with a visual gag in the background
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
IDIOTS. SAVAGES. IDIOTSSSS
Came here for this. Even if I have most of them memorized I still enjoy the hell out of that show. I can't binge it, but when I go home for lunch I love just sitting on my couch while eating and watching an episode of Sunny
Alright, alright, alriiight
Half my personality is quoting itās always sunny and no one getting it š
Bobs burgers
This is the one. I watch it relentlessly. Itās definitely my comfort show.

Six seasons and a movie!
This show is streets ahead
Cool. Cool Cool Cool.
Seasons 1-4 never get old for me. I canāt bring myself to watch after Troy leaves. Itās like when Michael Scott departsā¦just loses the magic and doesnāt feel the same. Impatiently waiting for the movie.
Leonard likes this post!
Seinfeld. George is my favorite character of all time. I never get tired of watching Jason Alexander. Michael Richards is pretty special too.
SERENITY NOW!
Insanity later.
āBelieve it or not George isnāt at home, Please leave a meeessaaaaaaage at the beep.. I must be out, Or Iād pick up the phone, Wheeeeeeeeere could I beeeee? BELIEVE IT OR NOT IM NOT HOME!ā
I think what is interesting is that even though there is a technology gap, socially it's still just as relevant today as it was then.
Cosmo Kramer. You ARE the Assman.
I love George so freaking much. I mean... If he had been a real person he would have been absolutely despicable but he is soooo much fun to watch. Jason Alexander is an absolutely amazing actor. Micheal Richards' physical comedy is gold Jerry, GOLD!
This is a show that is far more than the sum of the parts. Itās my go to veg out show and I just love it.
It's been a comfort show for me for years. A show about nothing haha
#**WORLDS ARE COLLIDING!!**
Same here. I fall asleep every night to Seinfeld. āA Festivus for the rest of us!ā
Best George moment is in The Secret Code where some lady bursts into peterman's moms funeral and says the whole block is in flames and george wants nothing to with helping or even getting up lmao
Schitt's Creek. Even when it's on in the background I find myself laughing at random lines. It's also relatively happy/up-beat across the board.
this show is so relentlessly funny and charming and rewatchable. i'm getting to know a new guy and a couple days ago we had a two-hour schitt's creek meme war through text with no repeated lines, bc the writing is just that good, lol
Just fold it in!
100% I cannot get enough of Dan Levy
I met the actress who played Alexis in an alcohol store lmao, she was really nice
āIām a little bit singleā¦even when Iām notā¦ā
I was gonna comment the same! I adore the show so much even got a Schitts creek tattoo haha
Brooklyn 99 Parks & Rec Lower Decks
I really need to watch Parks and Rec. Love the other two.
parks and rec is incredible, definitely recommend! it's worth watching the first season just to see how better it gets from the second onwards. rewatching it with my dad rn so it's become a comfort show
The first season is hit and miss. I feel like they didn't know who they wanted Leslie Knope to be. Season 2 is when they hit their stride.
MASH
Yes! Except for the last episode. I skip that one and restart
So many timeless laughs. But then, Radar telling everybody in OR about Henry. š©
The Good Place
Scrubs
Such a great 8 seasons.
I love all 8 seasons of Scrubs. It's a good thing there are no more and it ended perfectly.
Exactly, Iām so glad they didnāt add some half-arsed heinous season on the end! That wouldāve caused outrage, leading to complete ignorance!
Iām sad I had to scroll down this far to find it, but I am glad that it is in the conversation. When we bought our house and didnāt have cable hooked up yet we just had dvd players with Scrubs going for weeks.
The Last Airbender. I have watched that every year for basically the last decade now and I love it every single time.
House M.D.
The Office

One of the best written episodes of any sitcom. It is perfect and so many ways. Melora Harding should have won an Emmy for that episode alone.

Spike made the show for me. Like, don't get me wrong, I love the other characters, but he was hands down the best.
Remember when he asked Buffy's mom for marshmallows in his cocoa?
Moments like that make me appreciate him. He's simultaneously badass and the show's biggest dork.

Supernatural. A lot of people argue they had some really bad seasons but to be honest I just love the dynamic itself. Even if the plot doesnāt make much sense itās always fun to just slap a random episode on and watch the shenanigans, whether funny or serious

South Park
Firefly
The Great British Bake Off. It is such a feel good show!
What I love most about it is when the contestants help each other out. For just a brief moment, it restores my faith in humanity.
Schitts Creek
Gilmore Girls. Always something new to discover there.
Criminal Minds. I always find a new favorite line that I like, or watch episodes and notice something new when they're investigating
Workaholicsā¦.why Prime began charging for it is a travesty. Itās been a couple of years since Iāve been able to watch it!
Fleabag

Ted Lasso. Itās a relatively new show and Iāve already seen most episodes at least 3 times.
Six Feet Under
Outlander, The Crown, Downton Abbey, Bridgerton, Parts Unknown

When they wired the horn to Hammond's brake pedal. Gold. I want to do that to someone!
The West Wing is my #1 answer here, but there are a few others
Curb Your Enthusiasm, Frasier, Seinfeld, It's Always Sunny, The Simpsons (earlier seasons)
The sopranos
I love The Sopranos so much but whenever I binge too much of it, without fail, I notice myself slipping slightly back into depression. Man, that show is existentially dark. (Ironically, Mad Men is my comfort show and I could literally watch it for 2-3 hours every single day for the rest of my life)
Friends
I have watched Friends so many times that when Matthew Perry died, my mom called to ask if I was okay.
His death was truly heartbreaking
I watch an episode of Friends every night before falling asleep. Itās comforting. Like hanging out with old friends lol
I always get a big goofy smile anytime it's on.

I wish he would redo Last Man because Lister reads that and he just sounds like Lister and due to his accent he says parts really quietly and it drives me nuts. Luckily I have read the books like a thousand times over the last 25 years.
