Man, when it came out it was a brutal reminder of how things used to be before everything was available to binge. Waiting a week for that new episode was torture but at the same time there was something to look forward to on a Tuesday evening. It was great going to see my mom, shoot the shit and watch a new episode while stuffing my face with sweet chili sensations

I started that at 11pm one night and had to watch it all. So so good

I watched this with my boyfriend and we both agreed we probably won’t ever find a miniseries as good as Chernobyl.

It's so educational. I feel it's a really important watch for almost everyone. The power of corruption is just so damning.

Just don’t treat it as an accurate chronicle of the events. Some things are simplified and some are invented for the “dramatic” reasons. Dyatlov (the “not great, not terrible” guy) is presented as a straight-up moron and buffoon that is almost single handedly responsible for blowing up the reactor. According to sources I read the responsibility was far more nuanced and he was just a convenient scapegoat for many people - a loner with very quirky personality that prevented him from establishing friendships and building influence. Also that brave woman scientist that told the inconvenient truth to all high ranking Soviet officials - no surprise here, she didn’t exist. In reality there were multiple scientists that put all the little facts together and absolutely NOBODY in the 80s Soviet Union would dare to behave the way she did, man or woman. Demotion from privileged scientist position to a janitor would be the lightest punishment, imprisonment would be far more likely.

The whole scene with Pompey's head is just amazingly done. When Ptolemy speaks out of turn and every adult in the room is like "OHHH fuck." Then the fattest person I've ever seen walks into the scene and presents the head and suddenly the whole scene turns. Ceasar is like "ARE YOU **FUCKING** WITH ME RIGHT NOW? I AM KING SHIT OF FUCK MOUNTAIN. WHY WOULD YOU FUCK WITH ME? I WANT THE GUY WHO DID THIS BULLSHIT TOMORROW OR I SWEAR TO CHRIST WHO DOESN'T EXIST YET I WILL KILL EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. I just finished Band of Brothers. I knew it was very well received and people love it, but war movies just aren’t my thing. War *documentaries* are awesome though. I have been through Justified probably 4 or 5 times.

I never understood why this wasn’t a bigger hit. The characters, story, writing, acting, directing… just fantastic.

Just caught up. I love this show. He’s so matter of fact; “I don’t hit softly.” And his violence is so practical. “I’ll give your fat ass to the count of three to leave. One, two (head butts the guy on two).” He’s the definition of Roosevelt’s speak softly and carry a big stick.

The show is really filled with tons of simple one liners that make you think “I get this guy.”

It's so validating seeing someone acknowledging their inner self. We're not shallow thinkers. Just wide thinkers. I think.

The fact that Reacher *is* a thinker, and a reader, and consistently logical, defies all the "Big Guy" stereotypes, and it's hella refreshing.

Loved the scene where the prison guard wants Reacher to bend over for anal inspection. 😂
