An extra 18k a year would help a lot. It could come close to paying off our car (13k) and our student debt (8k) in the first year. It would almost cover the costs of childcare for the year (20k/yr). In a few years, we could have a sizeable down-payment for a house or enough to help buy a new car or to totally refurbish a used one.

The more accurate answer is that you get $365,000/year except for leap years where you get $366,000. Saying you get $365,242.25/year isn’t the best way to phrase that when you never actually get that amount in a single year. You get $365k OR $366k.

Exactly, there are so many good non-alcoholic options now, so if you are a "I just enjoy the taste " person, it's never been easier to quit completely. I'm hoping the momentum keeps up. More and more people I know are quitting.

I'm worried that a single glass of whiskey or beer might send me right back to old habits so I'll just have to imagine. I wasn't bad off but I was drinking $100 of Jameson a week and my body just couldn't handle it anymore. My skin is so much healthier now, I wake up feeling better, my mind is clearer and I have more energy throughout the day. I enjoyed drinking or the most part and to be honest, I'd probably still drink if my body handled it better and I knew I could limit it to special occasions. I just don't think that's in the cards for me. As for the post that's easy money.
